>This car is brand newWhy dont we do that with more cars?
>>28943974Because people dont want a 200k toyota designed in the 80s?
>>28943999>Because people dont want a 200k toyota designed in the 80s?They literally do, its why its still being sold, retard
>>28943999Is that why they're paying 50k for them in 2026?
>>28943999For jihad you do
>>28944014Supposedly they're bombproof simplistic trucks. Kinda shit and not worth $50k when you compare what other "SUVs" you could get for that price but its the middle east so they want it to not fall apart after 3 years and Toyota delivered. >>28943974Because OP, the people buying those know they're ultra robust designed to work for decades in some of the harshest conditions (climate and driving) possible. The interior is down there with a $10,000 car, but the chassis and drive train is up there with the best of them.
>>28944061>Supposedly they're bombproof simplistic trucks.Anything in the australian and Jap market have all been the 1VD and now 2GD engines which are as picky and finnicky as any other modern engine. The 2GD in the Hilux in australia started off with dust getting pass the air filter and the solution was to add a line of text in the service manual to clean the MAF sensor every other oil change lol.If you want a good 70 series then you should look for the 1GR or 1HZ engines
>>28944075>poorly designed plastic intakemeans>engine is badYeah, I guess a $200 aftermarket air filter is a bridge too far. Toyota shoudl've done better, but if its a "10% of these are failing" then you're doing the thing again.
>>28944077That was just something i threw out. The 1VD and 2GD are both common rail and hate any sort of mild fuel contamination. Even the aussies initially found the 1VD to be too sensitive until it got normalized to only find good fuel. The 1HZ you can get is still mechanical injection that you can choke it on water, flush it out and git r going again. The 2GR is a gasser with port injection and while a little more finnicky it is like a half way point between the 1HZ and 1GD/2GR.
>>28944080>Even the aussies initially found the 1VD to be too sensitive until it got normalized to only find good fuel.Jesus christ, what the fuck is happening in the rest of the world where "bad fuel" is still a thing? The US doesn't have to deal with that outside of worker accidents like the fill cover being left off or the gas station owners deliberately water it down.
>>28943974Why don't you properly fuck off you shill whore?>>28944005Dream on you fucking retard. the Moron market isn't big enough, and it wouldn't exist at all if goyota couldn't peddle this long paid off old shit and fleece a few of their absolutely fanatic retards.
>>28944088Are you retarded? Just use your imagination.
>>28944088idk, i've never heard of "bad fuel" being a problem here. then again my car and bikes run on 91 (same as 87 in the US) which is the lowest grade sold here.one bike I got did gain a few ponies after I changed the fuel (the old owner put in 500 kms in 3 years so that fuel was OLD) but that's it
>>28944211>my car and bikes run on 91 (same as 87 in the US) which is the lowest grade sold here.pretty amazing its the same gas measured differently and others pretend their gas is better because bigger number. >one bike I got did gain a few poniesuh huh. We believe you.
>>28944227>uh huh. We believe you.Fuel absorbs water from the atmosphere. The longer it sits the more contaminated it becomes. Now the carb/injectors are delivering the same amount of fluid but its diluted with an inert material, therefore it contains less potential energy. Less energy in = less energy out.Gasoline is also a complex compound. Its not just one type of molecule. Some of these molecular chains break down over time.>Gasoline is a complex mixture of over 150 individual hydrocarbons—compounds consisting of hydrogen and carbon—refined from crude oil. The main components are \(C_{4}\) to \(C_{12}\) hydrocarbons, including paraffins (alkanes), olefins (alkenes), naphthenes (cycloalkanes), and aromatics.So.yes, old fuel is "weaker" than fresh and there will be measurable performance/power differences.
>>28944267>Fuel absorbs water from the atmosphere. No, ethanol does that. >The longer it sits the more contaminated it becomes.Depends on a number of factors, but mostly correct>Now the carb/injectors are delivering the same amount of fluid but its diluted with an inert materialWater is denser than gasoline. The gas station isn't storing it for 6+ months. And if you're not driving a car for 6+ months, you can take measures to prevent ethanol pulling much water into the fuel, or use ethanol free gas if your area has it. Even then, if you let it sit for a year or so it turns into varnish and is no longer usable as fuel in any car. You're close but wrong for every reason. Adding premium to a bike thats been sitting for a while isn't giving it a "few ponies" more because its just fresh gas. You had varnish and gunk build up in an ancient bike that has tiny orifices in the carburetors. Perhaps check out the WWG or CCG threads on /o/. You're missing some ancient knowledge about cars, gasoline, and chemistry.
>>28943974Do you realize you have to also regularly insert cartridges into this car to make the emissions cleaner or it wont run, and the powertrain is gimped from what it used to be?
>>28944282NTAI didn't add premium, I added bog-standard 91. The bike was pretty low km in general, 5 years old. First owner broke it in and the second guy hardly rode it.desu he was an idiot. (also saved the stock mufflers he replaced ... and lost the connecting ring so they can't fit. Also too stupid to fix a tyre leak (somebody busted the inner tube with a tyre iron) and tried to tell me "the servo air connector doesn't fit") doesn't matter if he "could have" prevented it, he wouldn't and didn't. Entirely plausible he put ethanol fuel in there and let it sit for 2.5 years. No idea what he did, but that's the worst case he could have done.p.s. it doesn't become varnish suddenly. if it's degrading, there will be intermediary steps where it's just shittier than normal.
>>28944344It's a diesel, what do you expect?
>>28944354>I didn't add premium, I added bog-standard 91.misnomer between the thing we're talking about: the exact same 87 octane grade. 91 or 93 is generally "premium" here plus somehow theres usually someone who thinks premium gasoline gives their shitbox more horsepower. Regardless, if there was just old gas in it, because gasoline is an excellent solvent, it helps dissolve old gunk and gum in the fuel system. Again though, you're incorrectly outlining the problem. You've landed at the correct remediation of simply running fresh gas, not because an arbitrary octane measurement or "bad fuel" coming from a gas station.
