What's the use case for crossovers?
>>
If you are married you have to have one.
>>
want a wagon
they do not make wagons
I cannot afford a wagon with an air suspension (a6 all terrain + interior is kinda crap, engine seems nice tho)
i want a raised ride height for rough roads cuz I do a lot of hiking and damaged past cars from taking them on shitty roads
need to carry a buncha stuff for road trips
its also easier to get in and out of a crossover, and the load height is easier than having to drop stuff down into a notchback sedan trunk
>>
>>28946858
same utility as a 4 door hatchback with easier ingress and egress.
>>
>>28946858
Imagine a sedan. Now imagine it has a lift gate and no rear fire wall making the cargo area more functional.
That's a hatchback.
Now imagine it was a little taller so you had more headroom and ground clearance and easier ingress.
That's a crossover.

>Imagine a sedan. Now imagine it has a lift gate
>That's a hatchback.
Acshually it's a Sportback
>>
>>28946933
>rear seats don't lie flat
Not a wagon.
>>
>>28946868
>want a wagon
>they do not make wagons
Find a manufacturer that makes wagons.
I has wagon.
>>
>>28946937
Not a prerequisite for wagons either
>>
>>28946905
>Easier ingress
Is this an obesity thing?
>>
>>28946975
It's about your mom
>>
>>28946933
Semantics. Hatchback, wagon, sportback, fastback, they're all the same thing in different shapes.
>>
>>28946858
I bought an Ateca for my mother because she found it easier to get in and out. Originally I planned on giving her my X5 but she said that's too big for her.
>>
>>28946975
or an elderly thing, or an “after your first leg day in months” thing. really just any time you don’t want to have to duck down super low to get into a car
>>
>>28947013
>first leg day in months
>bending is a hard task
fuck, we're all such a bunch of lazy cunts. I don't know anyone irl that will bitch about a lower vehicle besides fats and olds though
>>
How did people get into cars just fine for decades and just one day decided it's impossible.
>>
>Gas efficient and drives like a car
>space and clearance like a SUV
>High view of traffic

Why am I supposed to hate crossovers again?
>>
>>28947028
Boomers could afford to buy new cars when they were young, and are now old yet are still the main new car buying demographic because they pulled the ladder up behind them so most people younger than them do not have the same buying power boomers had in their young adulthood. Mass market cars have been catered to boomers for their entire lives.
>>
>>28946947
>Find a manufacturer that makes wagons.
Who still makes wagons in North America? The Outback is no longer a wagon. Audi Allroad/RS6? Good luck. Do Benz and BMW even make a wagon anymore?
>>
>>28946858
Retards (women) who don't want a SUV or a sedan
>>
>>28947037

>tries to have the space and clearance of an SUV
>High view of traffic, at least before everyone else had crossovers

What's with you euros and the "work hard not smart" mentality? You know it's okay to be comfy in life, right? You don't always have to do everything as barebones and basic as possible.
>>
>>28947183
Nice things are VERBOTEN under (((socialism)))
>>
Short wheelbase makes it easy to manuever and park
Taller height makes visibility better
Hatchback opening makes loading cargo either
Lifted makes it easier to put in car seats without bending over
Can do some mild off roading
Basically perfect for a family with kids.
>>
>>28946975
if you ever have kids you'll understand.
>>
>>28946858
>What's the use case for crossovers?

The person in front of you is driving a crossover or lifted truck, to not have your vision fully obstructed you have to drive a crossover or lifted truck. Congratulations, now everyone has to drive a crossover or lifted truck.
>>
>>28947458
this might make sense until you realize that we've been sharing the roads with semi trucks for 100 years.
>>
>>28946868
Buy a Magnum SRT8 and lift it. yw
>>
>>28946975
It's a "not being a manlet" thing. I'm 6'5 and getting in and out of a low sedan is a fucking chore, whereas with a taller vehicle everything is effortless.
>>
>>28947665
it takes you seconds to get in and out. but when the seats are high you suffer for the whole drive.
>>
>>28947684
>you suffer for the whole drive
Speak for yourself, short king.
>>
>>28947458
Um anon, I drive a coupe and I'm completely fine in traffic.
>>28947684
> when the seats are high you suffer for the whole drive.
That's not even true. Your feet aren't bent like in a sedan, you're in a natural seating position like a chair
>>
>>28947869
It's short fucks that love high cars retard.

>>28947875
>Your feet aren't bent
Just pull the seat back retard
>>
(((Lobbyists))) tricked manufacturers into banning small trucks because you NEED the F-450 with the 12' long bed and not the actually off-road capable Hilux or Jimny.
>>
There is no real use case for crossovers. If you're a woman, you need one to be accepted by the tribe of other women. If you're a man, there is zero reason to own one
>>
>>28946858
fat women, which are like 90% of any costumer base
>>
>>28946858
Nobody makes wagons and they're grandma cars. I want something that can do decently in snow and on paths, but don't want the poor MPG and shit driving experience of a true SUV. Wranglers can't corner and start death shaking above 65mph. 4runners and trucks are just too fucking big. If they made a small SUV maybe, but still it's not gonna have the handling of a car and that's all a crossover is. A car with some SUV attributes. They also do way better in snow than any SUV or truck. I drive past laughing at those retards in their heavy shits that get stuck all the time.

They also don't really make AWD cars.
>>

Its because of fat people.

Fat people dont want to bend down into a sedan.
>>
Cars are going to go extinct. The future will be crossovers, SUVs and trucks. Ford and GM have already abandoned them. Mustang and corvette don’t count
>>
>>28948427
Good riddance and 50 years too late. Sedans were the worst vehicle configuration ever created.
>>
>>28948429
It’s the best vehicle for driving to work and shopping which is all most people do with their vehicles
>>
>>28948446
How the fuck is a sedan good for shopping when the trunk makes loading anything a pain in the dick? Good luck taking a 90'' TV home in a sedan.
>>
>>28948451
Just order it online with free delivery?
>>
>>28948464
And have it sit on my front step all day? I'm sure it'll be there when I get home. You're really going to trust a Scamazon to carry something that big up to your door without destroying it? You are everything that's wrong with the modern world. I bet you bitch about shit being so expensive.
>>
>>28948451
>what are folding rear seats
>>28948477
>shilling this hard against sedans
You are everything that's wrong with the modern world.
>>
>>28948480
>what are folding rear seats
Not an option in a lot of sedans. Even if they do how's that going to change the tiny opening that you have to fit things in?

>shilling this hard against sedans
I own a sedan so I'm allowed to shill against them. I hate crossovers just as much but I'm not going to claim a sedan is better than one when they're clearly not.
>>
>>28948477
You’d only be buying a TV like that once every 20 years or more. Choosing to buy a bigger vehicle for that reason is dumb
>>
>>28948521
You aren't getting 20 years out of a modern TV. You also aren't buying all the 3-9 TV's in your house all at once which means you're in a constant cycle of replacing them. The same goes with other appliances. It's not like that's the only usage case for a crossover... Like said just getting groceries is better with a crossover. Transporting your (actual) dog is better with a crossover. Doing outdoorsy stuff is better with a crossover. Doing adult things is better with a crossover. And so on...
>>
>>28948534
You’d only have one big TVs in house. Rest would be smaller 32 inch TVs which fit fine in car. The other points are non issues
>>
>>28948535
What? I'm curious. Where do you live and what year do you think it is?
>>
>>28948537
You’re not going to convince me the majority of people have giant 60 inch TVs in their bedroom

>>28948579
Uhh yeah that's pretty commonplace in North America.... Even most travel trailers have multiple large TV's. A lot of people even have outdoor TV's on their patios and above their hot tubs.
>>
>>28948591
No it’s not
>>
>>28948594
Okay euro. Make sure you pay that TV license.
>>
>>28947137
>Do Benz and BMW even make a wagon anymore?
E Class wagon still exists and I guess BMW M5 Touring too
>>
>>28948679
Yeah but those are also $130k+ which means they pretty much don't exist for normal people. It's still going to be a tough sell even for people with that kind of money to spend on a vehicle. 99.9% of Stacey's would take a Yukon Denali over either of those which is great for you as the husband because it's cheaper. Better yet you could use the extra to buy a fun weekend toy.
>>
They act as a giant neon sign over your head proclaiming "I am a giant faeces-eating niggerhard. I eat with my feet and enjoy propagating poison" at all times.
>>
>>28948486
>Even if they do how's that going to change the tiny opening that you have to fit things in?
Turn your 90 inch tv so its sideways and laying flat then let it go through the pass through? Besides, most people buy 55-65 inch tvs and I fit that in my 2 door coupe with its pass through.
>>28948695
>Yeah but those are also $130k+ which means they pretty much don't exist for normal people.
Maybe if you get an AMG E class wagon, but the normal wagon is like 80k new and 40k for used ones that aren't too old and less than that for older ones.
>>
>>28948679
>>28948695
Not sure about US, but you can get a regular 5-series as a wagon in other markets, but it's kinda pointless, since it costs as much as an X5 and at that point the only reason to get a wagon is if the form factor really gets your pp hard (and you dont mind losing cargo space).
>>
>>28948714
That’s still double the price of a Honda CRV
>>
I dont hate cross overs, I just hate that crossovers are like 80% of new cars nowadays, and that they're abandoning almost everything else to support this shit
>>
>>28946858
They are the multifunction printer of the car world. They can do many things but they suck at them all.
>>
>>28948872
nah, crossovers are the mutts of the roads
pretty useless but white american women love them for some unknown reason
>>
>>28947875
It's uncomfortable to sit high. The lower the seats the more cosy it is. I always drop the seat as low as it goes. My buddy picked me up in his Challenger and it was super uncomfortable because you can't lower the passenger seat for some reason.
>>
>>28947454
are your kids obese too?
>>
>>28948924
>It's uncomfortable to sit high.
Sounds like a you problem.
>>
>>28946858
The use case for "cross overs" was automakers avoiding government mandated fuel efficiency standards by making passenger cars that could legally be classified as light trucks while still appealing to people who perceived minivans as passé.
Any other answer is a cope.
>>
>>28948914
Wouldn't that be the pitbulls of the road? Women love them until they maul their faces off. Ever single time.
>>
>>28946863
>If you are whipped you have to have one
FTFY
>>
>>28948837
Theoretically I don't "hate" them either, but all modern crossover designs are fucking ugly blobs with random design cues that never make sense. The old crossovers of the 90s and the 2000s were fine.

People like you always say things like this but can never explain why crossovers still outsold sedans. Maybe it was all a big ruse to fudge le evil gubment regulations but people still went to the Toyota dealership and left with a rav4 instead of a corolla
>>
>>28949095
People were also conned into thinking that being in a higher up car would save them from their own terrible driving
>>
>>28949101
Were they though? You polled every crossover owner from the last 25 years and they all say the only reason they bought them was they felt they were safer? There's no other reason?
>>
>>28948924
>It's uncomfortable to sit high
No.
It's comfortable to sit high with bent knees like on a chair - like in many trucks or vans.
Sitting with your legs straight in front of you isn't that comfortable. Unfortunately in most crossovers you sit like in a sedan, only with a higher floor of the car.
>>
>>28949181
Crossover seating position isn't quite chair level but it's closer than sedan. There's more verticality in it
>>
>>28949114
>You polled every crossover owner from the last 25 years and they all say the only reason they bought them was they felt they were safer? There's no other reason?
Two of my friends bought one for that reason and even worse one bought a subcompact crossover suv which might as well be a normal hatchback instead it's an ugly cuckover. Both of them also said that big SUV's and trucks are the problem but like you're the problem too buying a cuckover car. Also why the hell should anyone on this board glaze these commuter grocery getter cars, they might as well be all the same because yall should be driving something fun.
Also
>but people still went to the Toyota dealership and left with a rav4 instead of a corolla
Car sales people and the manufacturer are incentivized to sell the bigger cars because they will make more due to the less strict regulation imposed on their development. It's more money per sale vs a sedan so it makes since that marketing is going to aid in this and make some stupid "off road" commercial say "you could be like this happy family with a cuckover!" and every needs an "off road" trim to drive to walmart or costco and not use even close to the full space for shopping
>>
>>28948744
>That’s still double the price of a Honda CRV
So what? It's a benz, not a volkswagen or toyota. I wasn't even arguing that it's a better choice just that it exists and they've been making them available in America for a long time so some rich people are buying them. According to a Doug Demuro video, benz wagon owners tend to be wealthier compared to other benz car owners
>>
>>28948933
>has never thought about what its like to put a toddler into the car seat in the back of a 2 door coupe.

>>
>>28949095
>>28949114
let him cope. he needs to have some feeling of superiority over those "normie npcs"
they bought crossovers because they have kids and find them easier to transport in a crossover, like loading cargo, more space, etc.
some incel freak has no idea about any of this
