The highways are boring and expensive, and the Italian ones are shit-- slow and clueless drivers, constantly changing speed limits, speed cameras everywhere, too many fucking tunnels. I fucking hate driving in Italy.

When I've made that drive before, I had somewhere to be, so I was moving fast. If you're taking your time, not driving on the highway, and not already sick of European bullshit, it would probably be a great experience. I remember the French coast between Perpignan and Montpellier being my favorite part of the drive. Also, you can get some pretty good food at highway gas stations in Italy, so it's got that going for it.

I grew up in Germany til '03 or so. I crave that real Italian food, like those nice sit-down restaurants full of smoke with oil lamps on the table and a waiter named Gino. Rigatoni alla vodka, ahhhh, I don't know why their pasta is so much better than ours.I'm sure the other drivers are a nightmare, I remember Italian drivers being insane. But those old Euro towns just give me feelings. American towns look kinda like this, I miss Europe.
