What does McDonald's struts mean?
>>
It's a fake slur used by the uninitiated to justify their comically overpriced expenditure.

a term of endearment for the best compact suspension setup money can buy (most cars at the top of the nurburgring lap time chart have mcdonalds suspension)
>>
>>28948341
It’s an economy tier slop suspension for Corollas
>>
>>28948341
It's something that only rentals have, like the 993 GT2 RSR for instance.
>>
>>28948431
This, bada ba ba ba enjoyed can cope all they want, but mcdonalds strut was literally created to save money.
>>
>>28948431
For Corollas and sports cars that run low 7 minute Burgerring times, sure.
What car do you own that's outlapping that? And no, I only own cars with double bones.
>>
>>28948341
Pretty much the cheapest suspension design possible with, when the manufacturer implements this design element the car is basically destined to be leased for 60k miles and then sold to carmax/carvana.
>>
>>28948489
>I only own cars with double bones.
I doubt it, you write like you're poor as fuck kek I don't think you're one of the chosen few rolling around on bones

I prefer proper camber curves when I’m handling my vehicle around tracks. Sorry sweety. Stick to Corollas and ford focus STs

It's cope because 911s drive better than their shitbox and they're mad about it

Kids that grew up often going to mcdonalds are finally old enough to get a driver's license, and the most exciting thing they can think of to do with it is to drive to a mcdonalds. There was a big enough wave of this in the zoomer/pre-zoomer generation to make a "meme" out of this.
In all fairness it was "the coolest shit" when you were actually there and when society and the world as a whole was less turned into total dogshit as today.
>>
>>28948341
if it doesn't have independent double wishbones on each corner, you don't buy it

Sure, google will tell you wishbones are more expensive. But really, how much more?
Miatas, nu-86s, 90s civics, 90s accords, 08+ base Imprezas... Do these strike you as expensive when new?
>>
>>28948780
The fuck is the point when you're obviously a wrenchlet and a ricer?

>>
>>28948850
>trying to force
It's here to stay little ricer tranny, half the time people bitch about McDonald's it's not even me anymore kek
>>
>>28948850
Is it a meme though?
It's not. Maccas go to positive camber when you corner hard (and rebound harder on turn-in so it's harder to settle the suspenion).
Wishbones go negative camber when you turn to give a bigger contact patch to the outside tires.
Anecdote: they paved a road near me a few years ago but it warped and is basically a durability test section. On macdondals cars, SUVs, a '25 Range Rover with magnetic suspension it's a bitch. I expected my new miat to be worse, it's actually more-comfortable through that section than any car I've driven. Wishbones just can't be replicated. There's this buttery feeling in transitions or bumps where it's smooth but it responds to your inputs instantly. Like, it doesn't bounce back, you don't feel weight, but it takes smooth bumps and dips in the road as if they were nothing,
Why were '90s Civics so popular? I speculate wishbones and price, there's just this smooth responsiveness about wishbones I clearly can't articulate well.
>>
>>28948857
Sorry, Discoveries have adaptive air suspension, not magnetic. But you get the point, it's "fancy," filled with NVH, but still doesn't feel as good over bumps as a '90s miata. Wishbones can absorb and distribute forces better. Multi-link is wishbones with more steps - wishbones are the suspension least likely to go out of alignment, multilink has tons of points that can mis-align.
>>
>>28948808
>still no pic
doubling down eh?
>>
>>28948865
Oops, all lower ball joint failures!
>>
>>28948909
>lower ball joint failures
Both McD's and wishies have lower ball joints. Wishbones have another control arm to distribute forces to so ball joints last longer.
Picrel taken from googling the last sentence of my post, obviously after I wrote it.
>>
>>28948913
there's very little load on a ball joint
>>
>>28948938
Okay. MacPs make the outside tire have positive camber when cornering hard, wishbones camber out (negative) giving the outside tires (the ones holding the mass) a bigger contact patch.
I already said that in this thread, but it's the main point.
>>
>>28948940
That simply isn't true on a sports car. They gain camber through the initial stroke, and with stiff suspension and sway bars you dont have enough body roll to lose camber. You're a nevertracker dumbass. Stick to beamNG.
>>
>>28948946
Sure bud. What happens during that period is your suspension rebounds, potenially unsettling it.
A wishbones car you turn and the suspension just settles and you feel confident to blast the throttle.
>>
>>28948950
>A wishbones car you turn and the suspension just settles and you feel confident to blast the throttle.
Google result from this sentence.
There really is this feeling that can't be replicated in other types, it's somewhat difficult to articulate, but it's the one. MacPhersons feel bouncy, wishbones settle and let you get on the throttle earliers.
>>
>>28948780
It's hilarious poorfag cope kek
>>
>>28948946
Imagine needing a skateboard suspension in order to not lose traction, double wishbone can have it all and not beat your ass over bumps in a car you can daily drive.
>>
>>28948940
>wishbones camber out (negative) giving the outside tires (the ones holding the mass) a bigger contact patch.

>>

Brother Porsche uses double wishbones on the race cars for a reason. They woudlnt even sell if they didn’t.
They use McDonald’s on the 911 becuase its cheap
>>

>with stiff suspension and sway bars you dont have enough body roll to lose camber.

great value for shareholders, couple it with torsion beam rear for maximum profits.
>>

At least it has the quadruple m5 exhaust capable of 800hp on this tiny little turbo 4 cylinder kek
>>
>>28949105
>Torsion beam rear
Holy fuck. How Honda has fallen. Every civic through 6th Gen had wishbones, that's why people found them responsive but they didn't know why pre internet.
>>
>>28949113
With 6th gen you could already see penny-counting at work, 5th gen had forged lower arms, 6th gen stamped...
>>
>>28949113
>How Honda has fallen
Really it's not hondas fault, it's Jewish brainwashing of wrenchlets and Jewish dilution of the dollar. None of these co.oanies would ever take steps backward if it was up to them. Remember that little wrenchlet.

That's only on NARPs, 911s have had multilink in the back since the 993 and used semi-trailing arms on the models that made their reputation as widowmakers
>>
>>28949922
Porsches strat is put 1000$/corner slicks on the car and call them all seasons. Then you get noob experiencing 100tw grip praising the suspension.
>>

What about the front???? I think you have to buy 10 cayeenes and 50 caymans so you can buy the one model that came with bones kek.

Consider that Porsche themselves designed a double wishbone front for their flagship 911 shortly after I started pointing it out kek, ROMFLAMAO EVEN auto only loving ricer
