>Anon I’m tired of red lining I’m ready to settle down.

1.9TDI EGR 167K mi, I just bought it and am doing maintenance, look at how dirty this is.
I’m going to clean it, but am thinking about doing an EGR delete. I haven’t decided yet.
To delete or not to delete, that is the question?

What exactly is the point of deleting?
Thats 167k miles or buildup, not 3k.
Youll clean it once and it wont be an issue for the rest of the cars life.

Keep. EGR is not really a problem and deletion may make your car run worse. PCV valve is the one giving all the oily crap, so you can add a catcher can for those kinds of problems. Though you would have to clear it time to time.

I also have a 1.9 TDI with lots of mileage (260k) but it runs great. The thing is, it's not used a lot around town and I let it rev out time to time with downshifts when overtaking or engine braking, so the bitch gets spanked around plenty. Though of course only when the engine is fully warmed up.

Why would you keep an addon that literally makes performance worse just to "save the environment."
>>

Deleting/blocking the EGR on a Diesel engine will not reduce performance, and will only improve the engine's performance and lifespan.
>>28950337
>"save the environment."
By needlessly complicating one of the most efficient reciprocating engine designs in common automotive use, in a manner that all but guarantees said modifications will do nothing but inflict damage and driveability issues.
The vast majority of emissions systems on Diesel engines are pure, unadulterated snake oil intended to make stupid people feel better and to sell services and parts for those ridiculous emission systems.

Why do an EGR delete when you can reroute the EGR to post-cat exhaust?
Legally you still have a functioning Cat and EGR(edirect) so it's not like the gubbermunt can stop you.

Nah diesel with no emission is good for like trucks but it's disaster for passenger cars, 10 years ago my city was all in diesel haze during rush hour from all the small diesels polluting.
It was also political decision of EU which preferred lower co2 emissions to save the planet vs US which preferred lower NOx to save general population.

taking it out

For me personally diesel is long-distance travel champ for going between cities and that's that, I don't care about performance gains that much (most of which would actually come from a tune not deletion itself), mine is smooth and pulls hard enough either way.

For stuff within city I like my motorcycle and bicycle way more, lucky to not live in concrete hellscape though.

Diesels with low/no egr rate take forever to warm up. Do you use our heater?

I hope your wife dies of cancer at a young age

familiarize yourself with basic info. As much as I hate to shill any yt slop here https://youtu.be/EibM3PAc8as?si=q_NPsG3QyxZH90XC

Neglecting basic maintenance will kill your engine long before an EGR will. That includes removing the intake manifold to torch out the build up (really isn't any different from modern turbo direct injections that also suffer from this). for passenger vehicle is fine, and especially how basic it is, + modern diesel, doesnt gain you anything deleting it other than being in the way once you get hotrodding with a bigger turbo/bolton's/"""""tooning"""". Now when you add modern emissions, def and any half ton pickup truck, then yes; we're talking about pure cancer and bullshit designed to destroy your engine/wallet and should be vehemently avoided, so much to the point it's not worth bothering doing the deletes, other custom bullshit necessary and/or worrying about local municipality (if it applies to you) because you'll never make up the difference in the costs associated.

Emissions on a passenger car diesel is even worse, because it hastens their inevitable destruction.
The emissions output over the lifespan of a non-emission diesel car is far less than the output of the manufacturing of that vehicle , especially with the ridiculous emissions standards.

You are trading a small, visible form of pollution for a much larger "but not in your backyard" kind of environmental destruction.
