My dad's car started revving to the moon while braking for a stop light today. Before I call him a retarded boomer who can't drive, is there a chance there's something wrong with the car?Maybe a vacuum leak? Freaky shit, unable to replicate it.
Also picrel is the car, turbo 2012 rdx
>>28949611the brake booster is powered by vacuum so yes, vacuum leak is what you should be looking for
>>28949614Or he accidentally hit both pedals at once
>>28949615Pretty much my thought process, it scares the crap out of me He has passed it off as just being a one off incident but this cannot happen again
Transmission shifting or slipping abnormally? How's the transmission fluid look?
>>28949695Pretty good. Slight shudder around 35-40mph but I'm fairly certain it's a questionable motor mount

One time i was reversing and my car revved to 3000 RPM, while the clutch was down, and just stepping on the brakeIt revved for a good 3-5 seconds before it stopped. And no, i checked, i wasnt stepping on the gas
vacuum leaks are amplified when you have a turbo
A little rev bump could be vacuum but surging rpm when braking sounds like fat footing the brake and accelerator
>>28949611>Freaky shit, unable to replicate it.This is why OBD exists.Pull the codes, retard.
>>28949611brake VTEC
>>28949627>He has passed it off as just being a one off incident but this cannot happen againSounds like you're really judgemental and your dad is probably tired of it. Shit happens, it was fine. You don't even need to point it out, he probably felt like an idiot when it happened. Sometimes it's best to let others learn from mistakes on their own instead of harassing them and making them uncomfortable. IRL anyway.
>>28951177If you must point it out. How about something like, turn it into a humourous moment of shared humility. "Oh dad you did the two pedal thing, I once did that and everyone around looked at me, I was so embarrassed dohoho" even if that's not true. Or share a real tale where you made a mistake. That makes him acknowledge the error, without passing blame or judgement.Nobody wants to be around someone who constantly nitpicks and blames.
