They should start making repro kubelwagen bodies, I'd buy one in a heart beat.

Which one won the war?
Yeah, thought so.

Interesting pic, that's an early "Slatgrille" Willys.
Anyhow, the Typ82 was an an interesting take, but the lack of 4WD was an admitted deficit. The related Schwimm and Kommadurwagen both used a 4WD system, that could (and should) have been fitted to the Typ82.
The biggest issues the MB/GPW had were it's tendency to roll the front axle under heavy braking causing unexpected veering of the vehicle. This was corrected very quickly and it why all post '42 "jeeps" have that odd spring on the LH front stack.

There was a company in New Mexico called "KoobleKar" that made a few. They are still "somewhat in business" and the handful I saw looked well made, but their production time is best measured in metrics used for continental drift.

The Jeep was the first to get stuck. The Power Wagon the second. The VW, with 200 pounds of stuff in the back NEVER got stuck. I also drove it over Teton Pass in three feet of snow. The front wheels were off the highway and acted as rudders.

The kubel wagons front end is aggressive and the tire in the front gives the utilitarian look similar to the early bugs. Before they all become quirky
