the world runs on dieselambulances fire trucks semis all run diesel cause that stuff actually has to work every daymeanwhile half these gas trucks turn into ticking oil burning junk once the warranty expires
>>28950346But do they meet the EURO 7 standard?
>>28950346>all these heavy vehicle have diesel engines because they're already giga heavy anyway so the weight doesn't matterWow great insight OP
>>28950359batteries simply do not scale to larger applicationshence why tesla trucks never became a thing.
>>28950366Electric trucks are taking over in Europe and China. Tesla is not the only manufacturer.
>i can't afford anything petrol performance wise so i'll pretend diesel is coolmany such cases
>Tons of mining of rare earth metal happens to manufacture the batteriesThere is no relevant amount of rare earth in LFP. Even the critical cobalt in NMC is not a rare earth. Lies like that result in nobody taking ICE shill claims seriously.Charging at home or at work is a better solution than having to visit gas stations.
>>28950894Ouch. I feel bad for them.
>>28951327This. Diesel has always been the choice of poorfags trying to save money. Everyone would pick petrol if fuel was free.
>>28951327diesel trucks hold value way better than their gas counterparts
>>28950346All the ambulances here have been gassers for decades now. School buses are all propane. The city buses are all natural gas and the little shuttle buses are gassers. The garbage trucks are mostly natural gas. It doesn't matter if they have to replace the gas long block earlier than a diesel when the gas long block costs less than just the emission system on a modern diesel.

>>28951393Drivers in Eurasia have to take breaks after 4-5 hours that can be used to charge the vehicle. Only Americans have to drive 8 hours straight.
>>28950894>Electric trucks are taking over in EuropeThey're not, the batteries are too heavy limiting how much they can haul
>>28951753They are allowed to weigh 42t instead of the standard 40t and not every transport is determined by weight.
>>28951689Garbage trucks are a perfect application for EV. They only drive comparable short distances and most of that slow speed with regular stops. They'll always return to their base so they can charge overnight and the reduction in noise will make a big difference for the residents.
>>28950354There's only one Europe
>>28951811They drive those things extremely hard plus the hydraulic system would drain a shitload of energy. Sure you could run a regen system for both like a forklift but it likely wouldn't make a relevant effect on the range. I doubt you're fitting a pack capable of pushing a single gear in there. If they used even a 2 speed transmission they might be a viable option.
>>28951736Guess it's a good idea it can put itself out when it eventually self ignites.
>>28951938This isn't some hypothetical thing. Electric trucks already exist and regularly get built as garbage trucks.Number of gears depends on the specific model. https://www.volvotrucks.com/en-en/news-stories/stories/2025/oct/volvo-trucks-electric-garbage-truck-range.htmlhttps://www.scania.com/group/en/home/electrification/e-mobility-hub/the-scania-electric-waste-truck-that-does-not-waste-energy.htmlhttps://special.mercedes-benz-trucks.com/en/econic/waste-management/a-clean-affair.htmlhttps://www.renault-trucks.co.uk/static/waste-collection-vehicles-for-collecting-waste-effectively
