It was a cabrio but the soft top didn’t work which was a shame. It felt like a well planted car due to the 2.6m wheelbase and handled pretty well in corners, at least it did to me. It was the 2L turbo version and even with 180hp it could climb a steep hill at 90kmh just fine, it was the 5speed manual. The central key lock was a bit weird but other than that it was a cool ride and the door handles swung upwards. Any of you guys ever drive a Saab? What about Volvos? I’m looking to get behind the wheel of a 850 next. Any sites you guys get parts for yours or aftermarket upgrades? Any forums that go into depth on them?

I love the Polestar 2! EVs have no right being this fun.
>>
>>28950858
Have you sat in a polestar and tried the ergonomics? My brother had one shortly but I never got to try it. I liked the plush suspension and interior of the 93 I drove and it felt engaging to me with a stick shift and rolled down window. You say it’s fun, is it just acceleration or can you, if you’ve tried to do so, slide it in a corner?
>>
>>28950850
Not a SAAB guy by any means and I know the fans get pretty obsessed and autistic. There's a 230hp '88 900 turbo for sale near me and it looks fucking sick.
>>
>>28950901
I started getting into them since yesterday and guys talk about parts compatibility a lot since it’s built on a platform from GM. Also the turbos from the SE models can be from like 5 different manufacturers but are usually Garrett or Mitsubishi
>>

>>28950946
Also the 900 turbo is indeed really fuckin cool and I want to drive that one as well. >Not into Saabs
more of a Volvo guy?
>>
>>28950893
I own one yes. The seats are really comfortable to me. I'm 1,83cm and fit perfectly in the driver's seat and the seat does a good job also keeping me in place during high speed turns.
Yes you can slide with the RWD version which I have. Just turn on sport mode and go nuts. Lowers traction control.
>>
Me mum had a 90s 900 Turbo manual growing up. One of the first manuals I drove. It was okay. I'd probably like it more today than I did then.
>>
Sad I never owned a Volvo S60. Sublime loking car.

Back when Twilight was all the rage, since vamp boy had an S60R in the novels, you could pull twilight fans pretty hard with those.
They were decent cars, but now that you mention it, I haven't seen even an 00s Volvo in years. I still see some 80s and 90s ones.
>>
>>28951170
In the movie he drives one of those faggy C30s and it looks awful.
>>
>>28951201
Don't diss the C30 just because the movies suck. It's a pretty cool little hatchback
>>

I have had the fortune (or misfortune to some) of daily driving a first gen 9-3 vert and working on my friend's 9-5 aero sedan. The 9-5 is by far the better car, and the 9-3 has a bothersome lack of chassis rigidity. It feels to me like a really solid engine put in an economy car chassis from the 80s. Which is because it is. The vectra b chassis the 9-5 is based on is miles ahead. My 9-3 is mostly stock, but is set up to run flexfuel. It's only left me stranded once, but it was a shitty situation due to the lack of parts availability. It's also fairly picky when it comes to everything around the ECU and eats through ignition cassettes like nothing else.

For a country as dull and soulless as Sweden, they sure can make those cars look good.

Polestar 2 is suprisingly cramped because its based on Volvo XC40 platform.

> Slide in a corner
Its a 2200 kg car with weight in the floor. It actively resists sliding when going forwards at any speed.

All Saab concertibles are Finnish cars

t knower
>>
>>28951340
You can still drift with the rear wheel version with traction control off. That weight is countered by its instant torque and 300 bhp. Very fun car.
>>
>>28950850
I've driven an absolute heap of saabs but the convertibles always felt like the chassis is made of out of wet noodles
>>
>>28951328
Pic not related?
>>
>>28951342
And all of those "concertibles" are horribly put together shitheaps
>>
>>28951367
I guess the one I drove was a unicorn. I drove a few cabrios and I never really felt that the chassy twists or that the car behaves like shit necessarily. However hating convertibles entirely is for bench racers.
>>
>>28951340
>can’t slide 2200kg 300hp car

Can you just have shitty enough chunk tires on it that it’ll lose grip?

i hate this fucking thing
don't buy one
>>
>>28951417
Extremely sleek. Didn't they go for like 400k SEK (40k USD) when brand new? That's a lot of money today.
>>
>>28951451
Yeah, I looked it up. 380k SEK and about 39k USD for the basic spec model
>>
>>28951468
That's like 800k in today's money lel. The profit margins back then must've been huge.
>>
>>28951451
I would say it was my first dream car. This and the BMW e46. If I get the money and space I'll buy a t5 for fun. Hardtop, not the cab. There are still some mint objects around. Picrel is up for sale

Fairly new car, fewer kms on the clock and man is it sleek. Not sure on the red leather seats though.

i love classic saabs. i daily this 1984 c900 turbo and hope to eventually acquire a mint spg as a forever car. ama
>>
>>28951484
Yeah, it's nice. I never really liked the 2nd gen though. It doesn't look sporty and fast like the 1st gen lol. But it's okay as a cab. Regular leather colored seats it would have been perfect
>>
>>28951645
I like how the retarded US regs on headlights and bumpers just werk for the 900. What common issues do you run into with it?
>>
>>28951682
>I never really liked the 2nd gen though
How come? Weren't those engines basically indestructible? My brother had a Volvo from that era and it went on with minimum faults for like 300k km he had it.

I don't really have knowledge to speak about the engine, but the general consensus seems to be it's peak Volvo. People here go crazy for V70/XC70. Low milage objects are very sought after. My problem is the design. It became fat, the ass is too big. It's not slim and sporty like 1st gen
