Anyone else feel like mismatching cars and tires feels like racemixing?
It’s absolutely disgusting.
For example: I exclusively run Continentals on my UDM and Goodyears on my Ford shitbox.
>>
They're just tires bro.
I have French tires on my German car, Japanese tires on my American car, and Korean tires on my Japanese car
>>
I use the cheapest shit available as DOT regulations has made it illegal to sell anything actually bad.
>>
>>28951520
this triggers my tism BIGLY.
>>
>>28951522
ok but do you pick the cheapest shit that matches your cars country of origin at least?
>>
i have korean tires on my silverado haha

I ONLY use MICHELIN tires on my BMWs
>>
just wish I could buy some 1960 compound tyres bro
governments keep mandating higher and higher grip levels and its ruining my driving experience
>>
>>28951666
>race mixing
>opting for inferior tires
>>
>>28951707
just use shitty winter tires in the summer
>>
running falken fk520 225 45 17 on my e90 with the magnesium OEM rims and M3 front suspension arms and holy fuck
I fall out of the seat before I can push it to the limit
>>
>>28951743
You believe winter tyres which are designed to produce traction in very cold temperatures are HARD compound?
>>
>>28951747
You’re slow and brown
>>
>>28951508
Detroit speed is sponsored by BFG.
So they still use those ancient BFG Rival tires.
One of the slowest 200tw tire available.

>>28951756
Winter tires in normal weather have shit grip.
I did an Autocross event with a BMW M2 with winter tires.
It was a pretty fun sliding around everywhere
>>
>>28951747
I have the basic seats

post vehicle
>>
>>28951815
What the fuck is the point of having "shit grip" if your tyres are a soft compound which can't handle heat and just immediately turn into melted cheese?
I want HARD compound.
>>
>>28951508
I feel this way about rims
>>
>>28952179

Some owners just want to burn up a set of old winter tires.
Hard compound race tires are usually endurance tires and are on par with something like a 4s tire.
They just offer crazy resistance to high temps and wear.

Tyres for my truck are hard to find (165 R13), so I went for the only brand available that was not Chinese and had at least some history in motorsport, Kuhmo, I'm not proud of them, even thought they seem to work fine.
>>
>>28952255
You think 165R13s are hard to find?
They literally have them sitting out the front of the auto parts stores because it's one of the most common trailer sizes.
>>
I’m really tempted to give the new pirelli pz5 tires a try

They are still produced. Vintage racing groups still use tires like this. They're actually really awesome for amateur racers because they last a long ass time. Maybe get yourself an old formula ford.
>>
>>28952487
They cost like a gorillion dollars and I'm not convinced they're made to the same compound specs, I reckon they just make them look the same.

The one I posted just sold for $27500. This is typical for a car in as perfect shape as this. You can get beaters for as low as 15 though, and everything in between. That's not really that much money compared to what people spend on sports cars. Admittedly, you can't get a loan for it, have to have a garage to store it in, truck and trailer, and all the other racing paraphernalia, but ya know, just sayin.
>>
>>28952499
No the tyres cost a gorillion dollars buddy
>>
>>28952179
You gotta make your own.
I bought a project vehicle with 15 year old radial t/a's on it. When I went to do a burnout with them, they made no noise, produced no smoke, and scrubbed the blacktop clean
>>
Weird because sim racing taught me street tires are basically made of plastic
>>
>>28952255
I run 155/80r13's, much easier to find.
>>28952308
Trailer tires aren't meant for drive or steer axles, dummy. They're assembled differently and not meant for that kind of loading. Its why they're cheap
>>
>>28952624
gayboi can't handle a little side squirming on brakes

I'm from Ohio, and there's only one company that hasn't left the former rubber capital of the world. I believe that you should buy things that are made in the country/region you live in
Plus blimps are pretty cool
>>
>>28952614
old tyres are absolutely goated

>nearly THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS PER TYRE

No thanks I think I'll continue buying $50 truck tyres which have the approximate compound, shape, tread pattern and performance of 1960s racing tyres.
>>
>>28952692
They were high grip high performance racing tires even in the 60s, I don't know where you got the idea they were not. Much closer to modern racing slicks than your truck tires. Hell, your truck tires probably aren't even bias ply like classic racing tires are.
>>
>>28952696
You really have no idea how far tyre technology has come in the last 30 years, let alone 60 years, do you?

I've driven on vintage racing tires, "modern" bias ply racing slicks, modern radial racing slicks, and even shitty old formula cars with modern radial street car tires that are actually similar to your truck tires mounted to them. I am very familiar with how they all feel.
>>
>>28952708
That's the point retard - your "vintage racing tyres" aren't actually vintage racing tyres, they just look like they are.
Your post is more proof of that than anything.
>>
>>28952734
nta but reading both of your posts you look like the idiot here. i would just stop talking at this point if i were you.
>>
>>28952783
I notice that you didn't make much of an argument there m8e
>>
>>28952708
What you haven't done is race on classic 60's racing tires made in the 60's back in the 60's when they were fresh. Neither have I, I was racing in the early '80's, and the advances in rubber since then is astounding. Modern street tires, even imported-from-Malaysia bias tires, mog our race tires from 1982. And modern tires do it regardless of heat cycles and even work sort-of-ok when not hot.
Anon is right, any vintage racing tire made today would be god mode in the 60's or 70's, many truck tires would be competitive.
>>
>>28952814
>I was racing in the early '80's
Really? A real old timer, that's awesome dude. What were you driving? Do you still race?
>>
>>28952634
I don't like having the plies come apart while driving
>>
>>28952814
How would the goodyear blue streak tire you can buy today compare with the average street car tire? Is bias ply just total ass?
