>TFW you need to replace your tires only because you've heat cycled them too many times

I should just go with 200TW.
>>
Yep that ones fucken fucked m8
you'll just have to list it on marketplace for $20 and hope someone takes it off your hands
>>
>>28952792
Seem pretty sticky to me if you can park on the ceiling. Sure you need to replace them?
>>

CARLOS!!!!
>>
>>28952806
OP is possibly austrian, they need to fill their tires with helium or else they'll fall into the sun
>>
>>28952802
They howl. Apparently Indy 500's can't handle too many trips to 150 or the cornering I do.
>>
>>28952792
Anon, if you think a 340tw street tire designed to last 30,000 miles is "Cycled"
Ur gonna hate a 200tw that loses grip super fast with usage.
.t burn through 3 sets of 200tw a year.

you have no idea what a cooked tire looks like

check your wheel bearings. it's not your tires

Your first mistake is buying Indy 500 for track use. They melt then turn to plastic in a track day. Secondly, those don't even seem that bad. I've seen 500s in way worse shape hooking unless your tires are just old. Thirdly, if I can continue tracking on my all seasons in this condition, you can track your UHP summers in that condition.
>>28952883
This is a great example of what actual heat cycled and demolished Indy 500s are.
>>
>>28952924
>check your wheel bearings
HMMMMMMMMM...

I had already checked all 4 for no play or noises and did so again just now to the same, but... the growl goes away when I turn left and there's also an intermittent metallic scraping from the front right when I turn left...
>>
>>28952974
>an intermittent metallic scraping from the front right when I turn left
the dust shield on your brakes is probably bent
>>
>>28952932
>Your first mistake is buying Indy 500 for track use
I don't track it, I just use the street as my track. She gets airborne a lot.
>>
>>28952974
i've definitely had wheel bearings go bad without failing the "shake the wheel" test.

It was a little close on the bottom. Screwdriver prybar to the rescue.
Is this a conspiracy to get me to do my brakes? Since now that the wheel is off...
>>
>>28952974
>the growl goes away when I turn left
Because its side loading the bearings, the wheel is being "pushed" away from the bad bearing, causing tension relief.
So it's left inner or right outer thats bad.
Jack it up and try to "pull" the tire off the hub as though you had removed lugs and are changing a flat. Pull out, push in. I guarantee youll find the play.
>>
>>28953009
Tried that and there's no push or pull on any of them.
But now that I wiggle it again and spin harder, the FR does seem to have wiggle side to side that doesn't look to be reflected in the rotor and it does have a bit of noise to it.
My uncle owns a tire shop so I'll ask him take a look at it to see what needs replacing.
>>
Metallic scraping went away.
This car is just too fun.
>>
I guess this means I need to drive even faster if I only wore out the hub.
>>
>>28952932
Where did OP say he was tracking his car?
OPs tires definitely don't look like any track work was done

>>28952974
Wait, so you have old wheel bearings and are blaming the tire?
>>
>>28952792
I had Indy 500s. Suck. Just pay up for Michelin AS4s
>>
>>28953438
Wheel bearings are good... until they aren't.
>>
>>28952838
Ah yep, tyres howling, that's a sure sign they're fucken fucked m8
better make it $10 on marketplace and hope someone takes them off you for free

So he's never actually heatcycled the tires then. Proper heatcycle -> track driving is usually a given.

>b-b-but muh street driving still warms the tire up there for its heat cycled!!!1!
Street driving will never let the rubber get hot enough to break down the polymer chains alone. That isn't to say street driving doesnt affect it at all. Just minimally. And based on the photo he's sent, he's never got the tire hot enough for it to matter. His shoulders don't even look that bad.

That said, Indy 500's are a trash tire to begin with, they dry out and turn to hockey pucks after 2-3 summer seasons or 1-2 track days.
>>
>>28953008
>DOT 1321
IM WHEEZING. buddy, they're not heat cycled out, they're just fucking old. Just get ECS02's like everybody else. You dont need 200TW track tires for the street on your M54 Z3. You'd never get them hot enough to take advantage of their grip, if anything they'll feel like hockey pucks when cold and be worse than the ECS02's or even the Indy's if they were new until you get some heat into them. Hek, some 200tw tires take FOREVER to get up to temp.
>>
>>28953548
>You'd never get them hot enough to take advantage of their grip
Kek it's so ridicuous when guys get hi temp pads and tires, only to drive like a pussy and lose out on the cold temp performance and long life or a regular ceramic pad and A/S tire, they have their place.

Potenza sport is a max performance summer tire, it is better because it's not an all season.
The new indy500 v2 is the same as the new re005 that was released in asia/aus. Those are improved over the older versions and seem to be pretty good but they're still a tier below max performance summer tires.

Indy 500’s are popular because they give “good enough” performance for cheap while lasting a lot longer than 3000 miles.
There’s a point where more grip just gets you in trouble when you think you can take a corner at an extreme speed but a bump sends you jumping sideways. Jumping 3 feet sideways into an oncoming SUV or off the road is probably not how you wanted to take that corner. Indy 500’s have enough grip to go fast while still reminding you you’re not actually on rails and you need to keep things under control.
Potenza sport’s are nice, though.

Indy 500s are perfectly fine lower buck summer tires.
