If motorcycles were safer, I would ride in them. Anyone else on the fence about the whole project?

No, I intentionally ride the most unsafe bikes possible.

Skill issue.

You don't ride like you drive. You get more vision on a bike so use it to your advantage and avoid hazards. Plenty of old dudes on 2 wheels can attest that while more risky, it's really not that bad so long as you ride sober with a helmet after getting your endorsement.
>>

This is bike for you
>>
>>28952833
Motorcycles aren't meant to be safe, they're meant to be fun
>>
>>28952833
Motorcycles are fine, the roads and other drivers are not. Coworkers boomer brother got cancer, took early retirement, survived and then bought a motorcycle to drive cross country for a boomer bucket list and died when a lady pulled out in front of him.

On a motorcycle you are basically putting your life in everyone elses hands, I don't know about you guys, but I'm not gay enough to trust other humans that much.
>>
>>28952933
What if motorcycles had automatic ejection seats that sent the rider straight up in the event of a collision?
>>
>>28952938
Sounds retarded and a potential fail point that would turn a small scuff into a straight up neck breaking kill.

They have airbag vests for riders now though which deploy when thrown off so that might help put your mind at ease
>>
>>28952933
If you blindly trust others on the road then you're inheritly stupid and that's not how you ride a motorcycle. You be ultra vigilant watching the front tires and ride as if you're invisible. You can load the dice in your favor with proper strategies.

You can find a track but that usually means you have to be part of a group and abide by gay group rules and whiny faggots if you dare have any unapproved fun.
>>
>>28953283
The local track has bike days but they require full leathers and a helmet less than 5 years old. And it's $260 a track day.

Its a dangerous mode of transportation and an even more dangerous hobby. 98% of wrecks and fatalities are at fault of the rider. Its a machine that takes skill to operate and most people who drive a car are basically operating an appliance. Theres very little going on and it has enough safety tech in it to keep you safe driving off a cliff. The motorcycle doesn't, you fuck up and there isn't as much margin as a car or truck.

>I'm more worried about the asian women on their cell phones and drunk drivers!
You're not paying enough attention while operating the machine then. Its kinda like when you're driving a forklift. You're nearly invincible on one in its natural setting. You can easily get killed by one if you're not paying enough attention either by using it or simply being near it operated by a dumbass.

>I don't have enough balance
There is no balancing on a motorcycle, you're making up some gay cope.

If you're too afraid to ride because of your skill issue, that is fine. You're being honest with yourself. Being honest about a lack of a skill and not killing yourself with hubris is okay. But you can approach it without any skill and develop those skills. Don't be afraid to learn something, but don't let delusion take over.
>>
>>28953316
> 98% of wrecks and fatalities are at fault of the rider
You got something to back that up? That might convince me to ride. I really doubt it though. Knew literally 2 people that got killed by being stopped at a red light and being rear-ended at 50mph in broad daylight while light is red from behind.

Marginally related, but know 2 people who got hit in a car while going through green and the other person ran red.

>>
>>28953964
>You got something to back that up?
Yeah, I rode a bike for 8 years and watched far too many of those motorcycle crash videos on youtube. The ones that genuinely weren't the riders fault were shit like rear enders, and collisions where the rider was fully stopped at a light. The rest were riders not positioning themselves correctly, not anticipating drivers ahead of them, and target fixation.
>>
>>28952833
No.
Everyone who rides motorcycles has some amount of brain damage that shuts off the risk assessment part of their brain.
The more of a sick cunt you are on a bike the more brain damage you have.
If your are doing risk assessments constantly then you dont have enough brain damage because that little voice second guessing what you are doing will get you killed.
T. Been riding since i was 4
>>
>>28952875
>You get more vision on a bike
And when driving in traffic you also need to use your hearing more than you would while driving.
The whole "loud pipes save lives" thing felt counterintuitive to me because even with my mirrors setup properly on a bike I had a tendency to hear things approaching me from behind before I could see them. The audible cue was the indicator that I needed to pay attention to my mirrors.

Omegakek, no the fuck you don't retard. This nigga think he daredevil!

99.9% of riders who haven't lost their hearing or aren't deaf yet run earplugs. Loud pipes do save lives btw, because it forces a reaction from others to find out where the noise is coming from. If you force a glance you just went from being invisible to visible (albeit the eye witness will be annoyed but fuck em its your life)

Anyway, funniest shit I've seen is you acting like daredevil, listening for cars instead of using your fucking eyes

You are just as retarded as the 98% anon

You should both go to the same store to save money on the rope and stool. Bogo savings. I'll keep staying upright having fun, you can stay on the concreate with a quiet stock exhaust.
>>
>>28954105
>Loud pipes do save lives btw
No they fucking do not. That loud noise is pointed behind you or to one side of you. Your average shitbox has enough sound deadening in it to make it so you can't really tell where that noise is coming from.

If you think rev bombing your bike generating 120dlb of sound for which it is heard by some retard listening to mumble rap while face timing with their sister about cheating on their baby daddy will prevent them from hitting you, you're a retard deserve to be deaf.
>>
>>28954123
You're actually stupid holy shit.

Sound is omnidirectional. You fucking moron, yes the exhaust is behind you... under your ass.. as in you are generating sound from your position sound deadening doesn't mute the fucking road like a TV remote.
OEM exhausts are abysmal in db, you don't need 120 but you sure as shit want 100-105db range.

Didn't read your polslop. You are genuinely stupid and your opinions hold no weight. Enjoy the concreate retard. Also I'll never be deaf thanks to custom plugs, faggot.
>t. You don't need to be a genius to understand the physics of sound unless you're one of those illiterate zoomers who are dumber than the last generation

Track days are a thing. Honestly the biggest barrier isn't the cost or equipment it's the x years of riding experience many places have.

Who the fuck wants to learn to finally go fast at 35yo when you're too slow and old to do so?
>>
>>28954182
I literally can't hear a panigale lane split until it's past the front of my truck and that's a guy I 100% expect to eventually see in traffic because he's been doing it for the last three years every morning.

Literally I've never heard him until he's at or beyond my driver door. Sometimes I'll have the window cracked and it still doesn't matter. The noise I hear first is actually the clutch rattle tbqhwy.

>>

Bro, get your license before talking about shit you know nothing about. My car is a convertible with no muffler and you still can barely hear it from inside the car when you start moving at high speeds. I also can't hear motorcycles until they're like right on me.
>>
>>28954370
>Doesn't refute that sound is omnidirectional
You want me to refute something that is wrong to begin with? Bass is omnidirectional, other frequencies are not. Even worse when you're near other similarly frequenced vehicles that are echoing, wave cancelling, and doing all kinds of other shit.

You're really hanging your entire premise on "loud noises are actually good"?

skill issue. ride faster because the point of being on a bike is that you can speed up and distance yourself from the rest of the traffic.

Boomers do that and still wreck. Its speculated that boomers are the primary reason for non lethal crashes on bikes. Mostly because they ride 400 miles a year and usually to a bar.
I am taking a hiatus because I don't have health insurance and would like to buy a sports car with AC for 100 degree summers. But maybe I'm just bad at riding and should embrace wearing dark leather in the south to ride on farm to market roads that haven't been paved since Clinton was in the White House.

That's the 15-20 group who spiked the <30 number. They went from 300 to 500 deaths in a single year. Not sure if it's e-bikes or what. I do know the middle schoolers on my way into work don't seem to comprehend that a red light and Newton's 3 laws still apply to kids on e-scooters.
>>
>>28954426
Your ears point forward because humans are apex predators evolved to hunt. The shape of your ear doesn't change the FACT that sound IS omnidirectional. Exhaust IS bass layered with xyz frequency depending on whatever your engine is.
>>28954375
First off unlike a conversation you aren't looking directly at a car on your bike like a face to face conversation so your retard example isn't even remotely the same to compare and its entirely based off a false premise if not outright ignorant to how sound radiates.
Secondly, you don't need to look at a sounds direction to hear it. When someone screams GUN in a crowd for example, people will automatically turn their heads to the general direction of whoever said it. Similarly if there's a crowd of traffic, and Stacy is on her iphome and she hears a motorcycle 9/10 she will instinctively react and look for the source of the sound. It's like dropping a textbook on the floor in a library, everyone who isn't braindead looks for the cause of it. This is a remnant of human ancestry hearing a twig snap or leaves rustle to detect a potential predator in a bush or forest.
