There's literally no point in doing this kind of stuff. The bike can't turn or accelerate. You're not gonna do any cool jumps, skids, zoomies or wheelies. You're just gonna go slow as hell like you're sitting on the toilet.

Pretty much, yeah. Your tyres are designed to be ridden in the rain. If you rode your bike to work then the tyres aren't brand new. But still just ride 10% more cautious than you normally would and enjoy the comfy feeling of being dry and warm in your helmet while the drips run off your visor.
>>
>>28953033
I tried to lead off the bike for a u-turn on dirt the first time I road offroad. Valuable learning experience.
>>
>>28953037
Yeah, but any surface where you want to drop tire pressure on the front, you're damn sure going to want to drop in the rear to get traction. Pick one or the other, not both.
>>
I'm convinced that the most dedicated riders are kids.
One drop of rain or it's slightly chilly outside and the "big boys" call it a day or are too scared of going outside on their 50 grand dadventure heaps, whereas you see kids doing wheelies on their 50cc scooters and dirt bikes in the dead of winter.
>>
Does anyone here have a SENA Spider comms? I just can't understand the connectivity. It says it purely uses Mesh technology, but what does it mean exactly? Can I pair it with someone who does have another SENA device without Mesh? Can I pair it with Cardo devices or noname chink ones? Why this shit is never clearly explained by manufacturer and you need dig through random forums and reddit posts without answers for a device that costs several hundred bucks???
Anon I'm tired.

To be dedicated to something you have to put real effort into it. Yeeting around on a dirtbike is not dedication.

Also life is simple for kids, they heal quick, their parents pay for their toys and if they fall off and break an arm they don't have to do homework for a week.

If their dad comes off, he's paying for the damages, may be unable to work, probably won't heal so good etc.

In other news: I was riding my bike at 50 km/h in a 50 zone when some cager overtook me on the opposite side of the road. I moved over into the bike lane to avoid being hit by the cager (who was speeding) and I got a ticket for riding in the bike lane while the cager didn't get a ticket for speeding.

i got carbon fibre handlebars on my mtb that work a treat for damping vibrations, but seems motorcycling hasn't caught up on em

i wanted to change belts today but the gates replacement i ordered is slightly longer than the factory original i just pulled out. should i just send it? the oem is 10 years old at this point.

Do you think they would deal with a drop on a bike? 200kg of bike falling over onto a bar end and 15kg of mtb is a bit of a difference.

surely will get compromised if they dont outright crack.
carbon fibre handelbars at least should stay in one piece if they break, since the resin holds them together

Has anyone ridden a Tracer 9? Seems a little heavy, but comfy for what I want to do with the built in bags, cruise control, heated grips etc.

Same, i basically borrow buddy's garage and then my motorcycle rides me while i sleep
But i am actually more so suprized that i graduated wrenchlette school

Like 3-5 years ago i was not even mechanically inclined whatsofuckingever
Amateur hour carpentry
Thats about it really bros

Broa i had them order a new aor filter for the reboot process, but im wondering if i can clean my old one to at least see if it works or not, what to use to clean? So far i tried water and kerosneed but its still a darker brown but only green fluid came out
Should i just wait to new filter timeline, again?
>>
>>28953336
Same. It comes with experience. First time I cleaned injectors it took me 4-4-2 hours to take them off, clean and put back in. Next time it barely took 2 hours.
>air filter
If kerosine didn't help and you're good with your hands - you can try cutting out paper part out of available car filter and hotglue it into plastic frame of old air filter from your bike.

How do i into wrenching without fucking my shit up beyond repair? The idea of tinkering on my bike in brown pants and a white shirt in the summer sunshine while all the girls mire my dirty hands and penis bulge (never wear underwear as it makes you look smaller, always take cialis when going out for gym gains and better bulges)

What I learned is that you need impact drivers. Manual one for rubber mallet and electric one for everything else. And torque wrench for putting it together, especially if steel bolt threads into aluminum. Picrel is manual one. Also photograph every step of taking shit together, so you have a reference for putting it back in.

Unlikely, the resin content is very low.
>>28953315
The clamping loads are also greater for the bar clamps and the brake and clutch levers, and many controls and throttles use a pin to lock their position and having that hole in a carbon tube creates a weak point.
>>28953312
Some older MTBs and BMXs use 22.2 but you're unlikely to find a modern carbon bar in that, 25.4 (1 inch) was the old standard and you can find some decades old carbon bars in that, new stuff will be 31.8 or 35.

The reason for the larger sizes than motorcycles (where 28 is considered a fat bar) is down to weight, a larger diameter but thinner wall tube can be as strong but lighter than a smaller but thicker tube (or of course stronger for the same thickness). But for a motorcycle saving tens of grams doesn't matter so they just use thick tubes.
>>
>>28953349
>many controls and throttles use a pin to lock their position
I'm gonna be real: I broke those pins years ago and just clamp controls tighter on top some electric tape.

1/2" harbor freight torque wrench for big stuff like axle. NICE 6 point sockets (gearwrench, icon, tekton). if stuff is like 10-20 foot pounds i just do it by hand and don't crank too much. i wish i had a small torque wrench. trust your intuition though. if it feels like you're putting more torque on a thing than you think it should have, listen to that feeling and not the click on the wrench. twisting the head off a drain plug because you missed the click sucks.
get one of those moto lifts off amazon for like 70$. they're pretty good actually.
harbor freight has a set of deep 1/2" impact sockets that are big enough for the axles on my WR, which is pretty sick.

buy stuff as you need it, not in anticipation of needing it.

Yeah, BaH, MNE & Albania - you'd have to travel early in morning or after sunset. Mountain serpantines are insufferable in the sun, when air temp goes over that of your body, the wind doesn't help at all. Sometimes when it's 40°C during the day, I have to turn back after I go for a ride even aftersunset. Because I get to the serpantines and the air is still so fucking hot, it's impossible to breathe. You gasp and it feels like no oxygen is coming in.

I’ve got a center stand is that good enough?
>>
>>28953360

i dunno. probably. the lift is so i can take the front and rear wheels off and i assume you can do that with the center stand.
but also once you've got one of these little jacks it's sick how useful they are. i used it to hold up an exhaust while i was working under my gf's car. and it's good for sitting on.

Get a chinese 250cc so you don't feel so "in the hole" when it you eventually break it.
>>
>>28953341
Get the service manual for your bike, follow the service intervals and instructions. Watching a video on YouTube of someone else doing whatever job can also be helpful. Start with the basics, oil and filters. Then things here and there as needed, Pads when they wear out. Valves when due. Fork rebuild when the seals start to leak. etc. You'll gain knowledge in time and the tool collection will grow.
>>
>>28953394

NTA but does valve cover come off without taking engine out of the frame on most bikes? I fell like it doesn't on mine.

i wish more bikes came with center stands, this broken bolt on my stripple is annoying me since its making it real annoying to do anything with the back wheel

Yeah it's very easy to do work. I was even able to pull the front forks to change the fork oil and do the front brakes by putting it on the center stand on a slight hill.

Also holy shit the new captcha is ASS

How do you guys end up deciding if you're going to sell your bike?
I got another bike last year and ive consistently gone for the new one's keys rather than the old one. I have to take the new one to the mechanic soon for a while so ill be riding the older one a lot more till its back.
I don't know if i like it or if I just like the idea of owning it.
>>
>>28953620
There's no point in selling, theres plenty of other bikes people can buy if they need them I would just keep it.
