Hello guys, tomorrow i will pick up a peugeot 106 XN 1.1 engine 60hp. conditions are very good for a 98 car, i paid 900 euros.

im turning 21 this year and this is my very first personal car to my name. Should i do some tuning to it? i'd like to prepare the car properly for an engine swap with the TU5 1.6 120hp if the 106 Gti.

It will take a long time but i think it would be a funny project.

About the money, i earn 1700 euros a month without expenses for rent and food (live with my parents) so i can spend quite a bit.

What should i start with? Have in mind that i made her get checked by a mechanic and all the components, mechanical and not are fine.

While I'm not jealous of your engine options I do long for the likes of a three door corolla.
>>
106s are brilliant light fun little things. A friend of mine had one back in 2010 and almost killed us every time we got i it. Enjoy! 120hp in one would be great fun.

Who got them

I think 106s and saxos are pretty cool. hardly ever see those anymore.
reminds me, I once had a citroen saxo and a volvo v50 which were headed for scrap and the engines were disassembled on my garage floor so just for shits and giggles I tried to fit the DV6 1.6 liter diesel crank into the TU3 engine and to my amazement it actually fit (although the block would have required clearancing). maybe one could be used to build a stroker TU5.

First of all:
Congratulations!
I love the older Peugeots, especially the
505stx
405 mi16

Per the Wiki, there was a Peugeot 106 GTI with 1.6 litre 16 valves engine that produce 120 hp.

Beautiful car anon.
I'd do something about the mirror/duct tape though.

what country are you from, anon?

mine rusts, first spot you can check is on the sides of the trunk floor, and it's kind of a difficult spot to fix because 3 surfaces meet there
>Should i do some tuning to it
get a tranny with extra long 5th gear, the 1.1 revs too high above 90kph
also i doubt stock 1.1 brakes are good for 120hp, ymmv

Your house is beautiful and that's a nice car!
>>
>>28964434
cool car. the tu5 is a great engine but I would recommend driving the 1.1 for at least a year before getting rid of it. it will teach you shifting.
>>
>>28964434
nice ride
the electrical tape repair on the sideview mirror is unfortunate
>>
Congratulations! I love small hatchbacks. I would start by fixing small cosmetic items like the side mirror and the small paint scuffs.
Maybe upgrade the stereo, bluetooth connection is always nice.
Then maybe suspension, brakes, tires.

Looks nice. Have fun driving!

no retard

buy an actual car if you want to modify it, you can turbo an e46 pretty easily

classic peugeots are a higher tier of enthusiast car than bimmerslop

My first car was a 1998 106.
Do nothing to it, it's not worth it. Just drive it and save your money.

What do you drive nowadays?

I knew someone with an actual GTi, that thing was hilarious. 120hp is plenty to get a tin can like that moving at "lose your license" speeds.
>>
>>28965286
the power to weight ratio doesn't tell the whole story, it's also got short gears

dont fuck it up. do normal maintenance (oil, timing belt if necessary, etc), maybe paint the bumper and get a new mirror
i agree with >>28965124 except that only change tires, suspension and brake parts if its actually necessary
>>28965247
post your turbo e46
>>
>>28964434
>>28965311
also get brake fluid and coolant unless it looks new
wiper blades cost almost nothing so change those too, new blades are much nicer than old worn ones
>>
>>28964434
>Should i do some tuning to it?
No. You should think about unfucking whatever the previous owner fucked up first then maybe you can think about tuning.

trying to find a busted ass 330ci for cheap because I dont care how it looks outside or inside, but its really hard to find one, as most of them are well taken care of

There are way more bmws on the road than classic psa garbage
I drive a bmw so I mentally register them every time I see one, even the ones that make me cringe like x5s
>>
>>28964434
1) Dailying your project is an absolutely retarded idea, trust me, been there done that.
2) Engine swaps are almost always not worth it, they don't make any financial sense
3) Before modifying anything, make certain the car is 100% mechanically sorted. That includes things like suspension, steering and transmission.
4) Start small and learn gradually. Diving into an engine swap right away is a terrible idea.

How did it go, OP? How is she running?
