Why don't sports cars have motorized removable roofs anymore?
Was never really a sports car thing, more of an old man convertible tourer thing. That whole segment is basically extinct bc the boomers who boughted them are kill now and yunger generations don’t have money for them. I would not buy one bc they are usually pigfat and expensive to fix when the roof mechanisms break
I would love to get a Z4. Grew up seeing them in the late 90s and always thought they were cool as shit.
>>28973532Mazda Mx-5 RF has a motorized roof.
>>28973532wtf is that real?
>>28973828Kitties be like that
>>28973532Because these mechanisms increase the vehicle's complexity and weight because the body needs a lot of reinforcement elsewhere to prevent twisting in an accident, because the roof is no longer rigidly connected to the body and no longer contributes to structural stability. That's why early vehicles with retractable roofs had that roll bar over the top. It was also expensive and shitty to fix.All of this increases the vehicle's weight and sports cars are normally trying to be as light as possible for better acceleration, higher top speeds, and better fuel economy.Plus a few other reasons probably.
>>28974686>>28973532Also, because it added so much complexity, it was harder, slower and more costly to first design and engineer and then to produce.
>>28973828You're more concerned about that than you are about the eight spiders a year you swallow in your sleep
>>28973828Where the fuck else do you think they lay eggs?
>>28974983>8 spidersIts 49 spiders but I guess you have other 41 in your asshole
>>28974983thats a myth created to show how easy it is to spread false info
the c8 has a hardtop convertible option
>>28974995>he doesn't have 8 spiders in his spider account
spiders are the good guysalso retractable roofs make the car heavier and more complex, both antithetical to the sports car experience
