ITT: Soviet Cars
>>28982392What's really interesting about their cars is how long model years lasted. That thing came out in 1958 and didn't get a replacement model until 1977, and even then only because other countries made fun of it for being such an old styling for the 70s kek.
>>28982392LET'S GOO, KAMERADEN!
>>28982437Well, if it ain't broke (the design), why fix it?
>>28982518I want one, the Universal station wagon specifically
>>28982561laukkuryssä
>>28982541It was more of a case of "if it ain't fixed, it can't be broken."
>>28982821Nyon kyl niin vanhaa termiä etten ookkaa hetkehe kuullukkaan.
>>28982392You're meant to say "communism is beautiful"
Ah yes, the Temu Cadillac. >>28983019Their ugly buildings, ugly weapons, and ugly cars say otherwise. >Nobody will remember the soviets cars past the Lada. They will forever be remembered as the people who made the Lada. Not this bootleg caddy
>>28982392The Lada Niva Legend is cute, and a guy's importing them to bongland too.On a similar topic, for some stupid reason I really like UAZ's stuff. Shame the build quality is dogshit, and it'll be devoured by rust in no time.https://youtube.com/watch?v=8ICNjprhlhY&pp=0gcJCUACo7VqN5tD
>>28983038I'd like a Travel as my daily driver. I'd also love a Buhanka, new or old doesn't matter to me.
>>28983049The build quality of it is embarrassing though.
>>28983057I really don't mind. I can fix them.
>>28982518I would really love to drive it one day. Although im on the wrong continent. I got a hungarian friend who's parents owned until the late 2000s. He described it as cramped and noisy and asked me why the hell I would ever want to be on one.
>>28982437>That thing came out in 1958 and didn't get a replacement model until 1977commies can't even compete. 1959 to 1982 BITCH
ITT: Pieces of shit FTFY.
>>28982437British stuff was like that, too. The Mini, Morris Minor, MG B, Morgan +4, Land Rover Defender, so on and so forth. Really interesting.
>>28982437They started getting into some real funky stuff in the '80s, of course none of the wild stuff ever got a chance to stick with all the "stagnation" going on during that decade.
>>28983153They always did go for weird stuff, like fuel injection for 2 stroke motorcycles in the 50s, rotary engines in the 70s, 2 stroke boxers and so on.The issue always was the government going "too expensive, forget it."
>>28982541What makes it silly is this was meant to be one of the very high end Soviet government cars, the good stuff the public wouldn't ever have. >>28983097It kept being produced until 1982 as well actually, so it was still being built alongside its successor kek.
>>28983153Were any of those 80s era cars like that beige thing ever released though? I thought they were only one-off concept cars.
>>28983217They weren't, hence that they "never got a chance to stick". A lot of the forward-looking, futuristic soviet stuff of the '80s does look neat since it's almost like an alt-history thing from the POV of a westerner, but alas, it seems most of the decade was spent facelifting '60s and '70s cars with the most futuristic new "production" soviet car of the '80s probably being the Lada Samara.
>>28983289Sad. I dont get why they didn't just make them out of that weird material like the Ladas and just crap that drivetrain into it. Modern looking car to impress the West and a dirt cheap drivetrain.
>>28983153>>28983289I am pretty sure those concepts went into development of the Lada 110. Imagine it with black headlights and you get really close.
>>28983623The rattles and creaks are insane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eJ5x5sYDmg
