let’s have the ultimate debate brosfacebook marketplace vs craigslist for buying a used carfacebook: free listings, tons of options, but you gotta deal with absolute retarded buyers and sellers, flakes, “is this still available” spam, and people who think their clapped out civic is worth 10kcraigslist: way smaller selection these days, but at least people are (sometimes) more serious. downside is higher prices from delusional boomers who think it’s still 2008which one actually wins in 2026? who’s gotten better deals and who’s been burned harder?
I've browsed FB Marketplace but never contacted anyone on it. CL is pretty solid once you filter out the stealership listings. Never had an issue with CL.
>Craig Alexander Newmark (born December 6, 1952) is an American internet entrepreneur and philanthropist best known as the founder of the classifieds website Craigslist. >Newmark was born to Joyce and Lee Newmark, a bookkeeper and insurance and meat salesman, who were Jewish(((Zuckerberg))) is an asshole, too.
For me, its marketjew, there's just more listing in my area. It seems like the average normie who dealer maintains their car decides to sell on there. Cl is boomer "i know wut i got" territory.
>>28989266marketplace all day. cl is really bad in my city
Offer up is where the real pimps and playas hang. Don't be caught slippin tho Lotta scammers too
I listed my TV on marketplace and all the replies so far have been scammers trying to get me to text some shady number to harvest my info.
>>28989266Craigslist seems to have more inept boomers who think their 23 year old car in obviously poor condition is worth far more than what ever other similar model (market) suggests. No, I don't respond to email. No I don't respond to texts. You must call me on the third tuesday of the month between 9:43am and 10:12am, if you call outside of that I will block your number and call you an asshole and raise the price $1000. Marketplace seems to be 20-40 year olds who don't fucking care if their car ever sells, their tasteful mods are important and its been well babied, other than the rust. They'll also take about 7-10 days to respond to ANY message you send to them. Is it still available, can I come buy it this weekend, is that a massive fucking dent you haven't mentioned anywhere but is only visible in that 1 blurry photo, how old are the tires?
>>28989430ayo u use venmo?!>no cash onlywhy foo? i got the venmo!there is a bank and 3 atms at the meetup u can get cashand then they ghost
>>28989266Tons of fake listings on FB marketplace using photos stolen off the web. It looks like a great place to get shanked.
>>28989473meet up at abc store in the rich part of town its always got like 2 cop cars just chillin there
>>28989491>nah brah my ATV's parked next to the train tracks just past the scrap metal place>come anytime after 8 and test drive it
>>28989266I prefer craigslist because the $5 price to post filters out the retards. It's been significantly better ever since that change. They also need to bring back erotic services and casual encounters.
>>28989522ok I think the debate has been settled.
>>28989522>$5 price to postwhat? I just posted a bunch of things yesterday and didn't have to pay anything.
>>28989529It depends on what section you post in. The cars/trucks section is $5. Other sections are free.
>>28989522>They also need to bring back erotic services and casual encounters. It's never coming back and it wouldn't be the same regardless.
>>28989266>look for car on facebook>"selling my personal car, well maintained">click on the profile of Ranjeet Kurapesh/Juan Gonzales>they're literally selling like 50 other cars, can even see the residue of auction stickers on a few>find different car for sale>"selling my personal car, well maintained">click on KarenAndBill Anderson's profile>they're literally just selling the car, a dining table and some fishing polesIt's excellent as a buyer since you can very easily profile sellers and weed out the sketchy ones. As a seller I've had great luck on Craigslist on the other hand, since you typically have older folk willing to pay your asking price instead of "youths" endlessly throwing out lowball offers.>t. bought numerous cars from both
>>28989558I'm just glad I was able to experience the personals section at its peak. None of the dating apps were as exciting as craigslist. I met the most interesting women there.
>>28989266i prefer craigslist but no one uses it anymore
FB algorithm sometimes shows me cool cars based on what I've saved, but then it ignores listings for cars I search for that I know exist. When I filter for manual transmission I still get 90% listings for automatics.
I don't have a FB account so fortunately for me I don't have to deal with scammers
>>28989266Face book drops the "sign in" block after a while and there's no way to contact the sellers
>>28989266I'm about to get rid of my personal car and was thinking I'd try Autotrader
>>28989995If you're on pc you can just inspect element that shit, plus some sellers put their phone #s in the description
FB marketplace is full of Arab/African small dealership owners posing as regular sellers. At least FB makes it easy to spot them just by looking at their profile picture.
>>28989440>is that a massive fucking dent you haven't mentioned anywhere but is only visible in that 1 blurry photo, how old are the tires? In my experience that's used car buying in general. There's always that one thing that wasn't mentioned in that ad.
>>28990206Oh okay great maybe I should take the L and sell it to a stealership
