My bike has an automatic clutch, so I just kick the gears and that's it.

quick shifter is whatever for me
I can take it or leave it
but if the bike model have e-clutch
I would want it on my bike
while 2026 transalp have eclutch now
I bet the 2027 one will also have cruise control because honda finally put adaptive cruise control on goldwing/africa
which mean there is no longer any reason to gate keep features on middleweight model

I think it is time for me to become an absolute heretic.
I'm looking at this thing and I see no reason not to accept an offer to buy it for cheap.
Is it the most fun bike? No. Is it the most practical scoot? No. But it does what I want.
It's a weird feeling that if I pass on this offer I'm missing a good deal, and if I accept this offer I will crave for something different while still enjoying the ride.
>>
>>29016825
There's nothing complicated about it. If it's cheap, you buy it. It's an amazing scooter that always will be wanted on the market, you'll probably sell it for more.

Guys should I get a goldwing? I've noticed that I don't really go beyond 110mph on long rides, and I've ordered a set of crash bars and highway pegs to mount on them, but I've been thinking to myself, would it just be better to get a goldwing in the end? I really like the 1500s and the later 1800s. Is it worth it or should I just do more stuff to my concours? Its a nice bike and it only costed me $2k, but I'm starting to appreciate ergonomics more, especially for rides over 3 hours. My only gripe is the limiter at 99mph for goldwings. How hard is it to remove the limiter? Is it mechanical on the 1500s or is it like a gearing thing?

I figured out clutchless on a BMW K100.
That gear box was so silky smooth you could just pop through the gears like you strum a guitar.

Now I ride an old KLR. You really gotta slam on the shifter and mash the gears together.
Sometiems it makes some clanking sounds but from what I've read it's normal.

>Noooooo
I know someone who ran up a pole on a cbr300r from a stoplight.
Its not about power, its about discipline. Lots of people start on ZX6R and R6's but its better to learn on a base 300 that's lightweight.
What I want to say, is you pick what feels natural and stop reading specs. Feel is very important on a bike, being uncomfy leads to overcorrection and a wipeout. Nobody even uses the full potential of their bike on the street for the most part.
>>29016966
You'll be OK, everyone dumps, anyone who says they haven't either will or is lying.
>>
Being intelligent enough to not do 150mph into the back of a minivan aside the engine is the easy part of a supersport, even if you can get yourself in trouble when you hit the powerband right before you need to slow down, it's the seat height, low bars and resulting lack of steering lock, and relatively strong front brake that are most likely to make you dump it like a retard.
>>
>>29017186
>it's the seat height, low bars and resulting lack of steering lock
can you expand on this?
>>
>>29017208
Because the handlebars are at the height of the fuel tank and in their stock layout pretty pulled back they have to limit the steering angle to keep them from hitting the fuel tank and even then the tank is sort of in the way of your arm at maximum lock which makes low speed maneuvering awkward. Seat height on its own is just a simple matter of longer ground reach and higher center of gravity making low speed balancing (and stopping somewhere you have a good foothold) more critical, but when you have a more learned forward riding position it does mean either bending your neck or having arms straighter and learning on the bars more which creates more of a tendency for jerky or unintended inputs and front end load.

Today I finally got it: it's like listening to Bolero playing in a loop.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh9bUD-hC0A
>Boléro was given its first performance at the Paris Opéra on November 20, 1928. The premiere was acclaimed by a shouting, stamping, cheering audience in the midst of which a woman was heard screaming: “Au fou, au fou!” (“The madman! The madman!”). When Ravel was told of this, he reportedly replied: “That lady… she understood.”

It’s not that bad, you really have to inspect it up close to see but the problem is that I will always see it. Can shops fix this kind of scratches or I have to get new fairings?

Also I am really a noob when it comes to bikes. Something dark leaked from circled area near gear shifter, when I rode home there were few drops on the ground but it’s not leaking anymore. Still wet in there. It definitely means something is damaged or could something have leaked because bike was on its side?

desu check the leak first see if its from overflow from being on its side or did something actually break
depend on your deductible too. i think you can easily cope with some scruff fairings and not even worth calling the insurance for such minor damages because they might not even pay for it
in that case maybe get some paint and paint over it yourself

Why are some gas station's 91 octane better than others? In the Midwest, I fill up at a Kwik Trip, one of the nicer gas stations with a full seating area for... gas station food dine-in, etc., and my engine sounds off. Not BAD, just chunky. I go to the niggest ghetto ass BP norf of Chicago and not only was I deceived since everyone was nice as fuck and the cashier called me 'honey chil'~' but my engine purrs like a fuckin' kitten now. This something I need to look out for? Is it just a midwest gas station thing? Or a fuckin' additives thing?

That's right around where the fuel tank vent/overflow hose outlet is located. That's also sometimes where the crank case vent or airbox drain hose is too.

Imagine: an electric bike, but with a battery-carrying sidecar.
Attach the sidecar when you want to go on a longer adventure, put your stuff into it, take a passenger in it, whatever, 200-300km range is achievable.

They may have water in the tank at the nice place. Or the owner or manager of the station has the delivery truck throw leftover low octane in the premium tank. They pay for the truck load whether the station takes everything in the tanker truck or not.

There's also the fact that a few gallons of fuel left in the hose from the previous customer so maybe the other place had pumps for each octant level.

You can also look out for stations the have ethanol free 91 octant.

How do electric scooters with batteries that you can take into apartment and with standard wheel engines have same or higher range, than purposely built electric motorcycles?

Because those stated ranges are at much lower speeds and if they're Chinese they use a different rating system, that's if they're not just flat out lies.

So an electric motorcycle going as fast as those scooters will end up having a range of 200km too?

Yes.
Gas bikes don't care much for the speed, you're burning gas with each revolution.
EVs only spend energy that you put into riding. Air drag (which wastes most of this energy) is proportional to velocity squared, so at low speed they get much-much higher range.

see, that's the thing most people don't get about sidecars. you're not attaching and detaching them willy-nilly, setting one up and aligning it so that it's safe to ride is a long and difficutl task. it's easier to own a separate bike without a sidecar for when you want to lane split. in many places you are not even allowed to without re-registering your shit, your bike either has a sidecar in the documents or does not.

I love watching accidents being explained to know what to avoid and then doing it myself and crashing anyways.
Really takes my ego down when I realize how fucking stupid I am sometimes.
Was having a fun cool ride one day on a road I didn't know, car passed me on a one lane solid yellow line and revved his engine after passing.
Made me mad, heart started racing, chased him a few blocks until we made it to a corner that had gravel that I hit, the bike immediately fell down, and it sent me flying head first over the handlebars.
The car didn't stop to see if I was alright, I don't blame him I'd probably laugh and drive away too in his position
I was fine, bike mirror and fairings were busted but I drove it home and repaired it $20 to replace the mirror and just ignore the cracked fairings they don't really matter
This isn't the only crash but man this one really made me feel stupid
I remembered this video of a biker get passed by another biker, chased him, went into gravel and almost crashed, then the other biker ahead stopped to yell at the guy for trying to chase him saying he was going to record his own death and said solid advice "ride your own ride"

I just tried to convince my friend ive been trying to get licensed to go to a place bikers meet up and see if we can find a quick group ride starting, main reqson was for him to observe and watch revmatching and especially downshifting

I adjusted his clutch recently and its a night and day differencd between the friction zone feedback he was getting, but now it feels like when i was going over some fundamentals and stuff with him, its like i started with brand new clueless rider
So take the downshifting i just mentioned
He just stonewalls me and says hed been clanking throuhh gears and riding through intersection stops etc. Via the brakes and clutch all the way in
I asked him, when in the fuck did i ever say to do that?
>oh ive always been doing that
Which makes zero sense to me bevause of note ive asked him to observe and we had instances where he was passemger and i specifically told him to pay attention to the sound of the motor and what my hands and legs are doing relative to rider inputs

Fucking between this and a few other things he is now entirely clueless about and had nothing to do with the recent adjustment of clutch, im starting to wonder if the instructor failed him and i gave him the benefit of tbe doubt instead of the instructor ffs
He also showed me the route he took for a road exam

What kind of stupid fucking bitch twkes a guy, middle of a shit downpour btw, on a Road exam and instantly not even 2 minites out brings you to a newly milled road construction section of residentials, hozes with wooden step up ramps, and gigantic gutter potholes youd obviously gret stuck in
And the whole route was less than like 2 or 3km before she failed him and looped back into the dmv, total test was like 15 mins not even around the block before she failed his ass
Who the fuck does that, a construction site, really? Remember, thia is the same stupis fucking cunt expecting a fz6 to be cruising inside 40kph but also CONSTRUCTION in 4th and 5th gear

Oh and then another discussion we got into while talking about downshifting landed us on the topic of examples of shifting in cages relative to sequential transmission
Now granted, i dont have class 3 or 1 and have no bigrig experience and do not know the fundamentals within big diesel blocks hauling loads relative to rev ranges and all that
But for some reason the idea of a self adjusting clutch came up, that they changed the dynamic of manual transmission cages etc. and he tried arguing that it fundamentally changes the need for revmatching during a downshift
I said the fuck are you talking about, because even with the minor differences of sequential gearbox, you still fucking revmatch the exact same way give or take less aggressively in cages as with bikes save maybe the high rev i4 supersports or clutchless shifting in general

So then it became a whole, what the fuck is this guy talking about; finally get back and he tried showing me the part from a 2006 f150
And i dont understand how one confuses this for its actual applicability; i.e. its fore wear and tear longevity and livespan and had nothing to do with what he was trying to argue
Like these components do not excuse shitty driving habits or training when fundamentals are invovled, nor do they rescue you out of anything other than you were a shit driver to begin with and oem parts will break under you kind of thing, heres something more robust
Idk
Teaching this guy to ride has been frustrating, as i said with the instructor im starting to question both accountsa, but now more his with all that keeps persisting as just either mistakes or complacency
Anyone know off hand if TOTW2 had a section for revmatching and downshifting or like a timestamp whereabouts thatd be? Or like a better youtube tutorial i can forward him?
Theres obviously a disconnect / miscommunication and if i cant fix it, im beginning to wonder if he just cant fundamentally retain and actually ride safely without persisting issues
>>
>>29018458
2005 fz6, its a bit higher mileage like 59,000km or whatever, but ive ridden it before, toured it back down, i hardly think an oil change would make all that much a difference for the clutch at this point, but asides from that and or new cables, there are zero excuses for that mechanical comppnent influencing his riding

I think honestly he cannot disconnext between cagerisms and the poor habits established there or just general, when learning back in the day, dunning kruiger which stayed retained all these years until i show up and ask wtf is the logic behind xyz and investigate things
>>
>>29018467
For the record ive driven several manual transmission vehicles, rav4, eclipse, and i think a couple other trucks, and a jeep rubicon during a test drive
They all responded the exact same universal way to my drivong inputs; never once have i done any of the shit he brings up

Im curious to find a mutual friend with a manual cage and see if a test drive around the block doesnt flesh this discrepancy out more, i keep having to repeat myself on bikes but i think with the clutch adjusted he rrally should have an easier time rsther than attempting to unlearn bad and relearn what i guess didnt retain

Again, very frustrating up until this poibt and him failing the exam with the shittiest conditions and instructor imaginable - all this and more forced me to review my methods of shoomergymkhana within the oblast

His exam day had pretty heavy rain, and like i said before he brought me through their initial course and i saw the recent road construction, so he elaborated on how bad that construction was
Mainly his instructor wanted:
>4th and 5th gear in a 40kph regular residential, now with construction thats like max 30kph legally
So how tf you supposed to do thst on a 600c i4, stupid cunt instructor, literally only possible on a single cylinder or learner baik
Asides from that she said he was too shaky and felt scared, ended the exam in 5 minutes
She also showed up late etc and kept demoralozing him over the comms with unneccesary foid commentsry, typical of a older bitch karen supreme
I think she had things to do and failed him early to pocket her hour or two hours contract work, go back to the cats and sip more wine

But yeah, now that his clutch is fixed for those issues, im feeling out whether or not she had actual feedback on his riding capability and ive been more diligent and nitpicky to observe any issues previously mentioned by the examiner, i think its a bit early since only an alley test, some parkinglot drills, and todays real ride, but im beginning to have reservations on whether or not he can adapt or is going to stubbornly maintain dunning kruiger tier useless knowledge from completely irrelevant areas of supposed/presumed expertise
As far as stop / start clutch control goes we made some progress today, but youd think these former days of rides with success would translate to more auccess when the clutch isnt completely cooked anymore ffs

He tells me
>you can ride
>but heres why youre not going to ride
So i fucked off and did it agsin later thst week, passed flying colors
I rode unlicensed for like 1.5 month also

Oddly enough buddy's instructor said the exact opposite, she wanted him to favour the curb side- which is retarded espwcially in her construction zone with various potholes near the curb; some stretched out for days bruv

I thi k they have an audit in review for that instructor or waiting for a callback to file a complaint, it was pure unprofessional bullshit for what all she failed him for i think, but the nitpick ahit im trying to weed out if its really there or not
And yeah, imagine complqining about how you feel as in the rider is shakey or whatever; on a cold ass rainy day when it was, she shows up late, ends it early, total exam time probs 15 mins, she failed to have her paperwork in order, and the overall disorganization led to pls sign the exam after the fact not before with confirmation of all the fine print BEFORE you even exit the parking lot of the dmv

But she mainly failed him because, again in a retarded construction zone, she did not observe him in the appropriate gearing for the section
Which equates to
>i want to see you in 4th gear on a fz6, going from a 40kph residential now into residential construction which is legally 30kph

He exiats and the instructor failed him not even 15 minutes into the exam majorly for those exact reasons
This is the transcript of the results and the footnotes she left him elaborating upon this exact issue, never in my entire time riding alongside him have i seen 4 stalls within the span of 15 minutes in start stop traffic or in residentials or in constructions
She notes on the side here 3000-4000k rpm, but was requeating on the chat he be in 3rd and 4th within these 40kph zones

Idk maybe the exhaust is too loud and shes a retard who follows groms every other exam, but she flunked him for callous nitpicky bullshit regardless and took him down the stupidest route, she couldve called the exam off due to weather but probably doesnt get paid if she did
>>

I think what's more damming is the anon wanted to be snarky about a critical piece of safety equipment. You don't want air in brakes.
>>
>>29018635
Who knows, maybe im wrong and he had turbo anxiety and the weather alongside being a first in the rain and it was a fuckin downpour wqs the straw that broke the camela back
But now like i said, his clutch friction zone is adjusted and tensioned better, not perfect but a night and day difference from before, but who knows, after todays shit thats why im beginning to reanalyze maybe i turned a blind eye to the shit she is seeing or maybe he is exaggerating nonissues to cover the actual ones?

If its indeed a situation that cant be rectified and he fails his next exam, im not expecting him to get another bike but how to talk a guy into early retirement- if indeed hes too dangerous to ride, right?

There is literally no reason to do this unless you can't fit the reservoir anywhere anymore or think saving 5 grams is going to accomplish something. The long tl;dr is that how much fluid volume you need in the system depends on how much brake pad wear you want to account for without adding or removing fluid and the answer for 99.9% of street riders will be "all of it".

Running that shit on a club racing bike where the rear brake gets used somewhere between never and practically never, you see the rear pads on a regular basis during wheel changes, and your aftermarket rearsets or subframe are in the way is a much different calculation.

>>29018637
It's the rear brake, they have like twice as much power as you could ever conceivably use unless you are riding steep uphill with a fat bitch on the back so unless there is literally nothing in there but air you're good.
>>
im becoming totally obsessed
i was never that interested in motorcycles, especially cruisers until lately, and did a ton of research on them and the honda rebel 1100 just seems insanely good for the price even brand new- as a vehicle in general
convince me not to finance this at an insane rate if needed because im broke and have a shitty work history but i can stay employed now and pay it off no problem im sure but i need this in my life now or im gonna lose it
>just meet some random person and buy a used bike for cash you dont have and have it give you problems for years and not be THE bike
no
the electronics on this can make the throttle less sensitive, automatically prevent a wheelie, multiple levels of traction control, etc so the fact that its powerful doesnt seem like that big of an issue for a beginner especially considering i already know how to drive manual and drive cars extremely well and am very coordinated when it comes to body weight based balance type things like riding boards, but i know the dangers of hitting pavement even at much lower speeds so i will be fucking patient and not retarded, im not interested in meeting with random people and trying to show off
im going through some shit, my car has a ton of miles on it so im always anxious its just going to die any moment, im so sick of car insurance and feeling reliant on driving a huge overpriced hunk of shit just to get myself around, i feel like i have a million reasons to invest in a good bike that will last and be able to take me long distances but also be good for commuting
and a new vehicle that does 0 to 60 in 3 seconds for $10,000 is just insane. And a honda, known for reliability. how can you argue with this?
Some really cute girl was just trying to talk to me at the grocery and I shut her down and dont care about that at all, meanwhile while this keeps me up at night

If budget is your main issie just get something used
Bothing bad or wrong with starting on a litre when its cruiser style, thats usually how it works, starting on sporty 1200 etc. Or old evos

Bit also, its a piss twin crooser, kinda defeats the image and style altogether, i like the motor myself but its more utilized in the afrocan twin

The first driving test i ever had my instructor was a hideous morbidly obese woman who gave me unclear instructions for the first turn out of the parking lot (she said go out of the lot and turn right, when that "right" was so close to perfectly lining up with the exit of the lot it was practically a straight through the road), so I drove passed it and she instantly told me I failed and the test was over. Money stolen and time wasted, confidence destroyed. Fast forward I have now driven over 100,000 miles and never been in an accident besides a couple women literally t-boning me like idiots two times, one was an asian in a clear wide open parking lot who decided to pull out of it and just drive straight into me as i drove straight on the road adjacent to the lot

Howd you survive getting mogged by cages like that, was it gear or just low sneeds fender benders?
>>
>>29018664
I dont really care about the aesthetic mismatching the engine, if anything actually i think thats kind of cool. I always thought chromed out Harleys were fucking lame old boomer shit. This thing looks fucking cyberpunk and not in a cheap way, as much as saying that makes me cringe. I do like the africa twin of course but I also dont think its very practical for me unless I decide to seriously change my life and start doing scenic road trips all the time somehow, which would be sweet, but thats technically possible with this anyway.
Plus the rebels seat is 5 or 6 inches lower and has a lower center of gravity which seems like a pretty big deal for new and or short riders, im a little short but Im pretty sure the shortness is mainly in my legs so that could be a big deal
Also apparently the tires are cheaper and easier to come by and the engine is actually retuned to fit better with roads "20-32% heavier flywheel for stronger low-end pulse and torque character, and for 2025+, an even higher compression ratio and stronger low/mid-range punch specifically for street riding."

The 2025 version also has a nice electronics suite that seems to not be a thing for cruisers at anywhere even close to this price range.

This bike just seems massively underrated but maybe i just never noticed seeing them being driven around before

Yes tell reddit more about how you use the rear brake to turn while getting blasted by 30s a lap by a dude with this on his bike. Some of the guys with pre-wheelie control 1000s will do it and the supermoto riders still trying to ride it like a dirt bike, but they probably aren't the ones running a tube for a reservoir.

>>29018671
You are the one who thinks gravity bleeding a dead upright brake circuit that's like 6" long is somehow going to be a problem retard.

It wqsnt neccesarily mismatching, triumph makes piss twin croozers, bht their displacements are also larger
If you wanted a lowering link, those also exist
Speaking of flywheels, i ordered one for my crf450rl, maybe here next week or the week after idk
Idk what cheaper tires means, you never go cheap on that shit dude, thats youre mainway to either comf or snapcity
The rebel is massively underrated because of its engine though mostly

Like i said, used is fine, all those electronic gizmos are just gay zoomershit, if it has traction control cool, but riding fundamentals take precedent before rider aids

Idk, going all in on a new one is kinda insane, just go find a used rebel 1000 or 1100 without the DCT faggotry, and DO NOT get the gay ass batwing front fairing if you do get it
Youll also need the following:
>swank jaggit
>sunglasses DOT approved aviator style
>big bad boots
>knobulars
>sissybar with stuffed animals barbwired to it
Only if you do those things can you possibly outmog this deadset legend

If you mix bleach + water + dish soap into a spray bottle you can easily kill wasps without worrying about getting any swarm response.
>dish soap reduces surface tension of water letting it 'stick' to their wings
>bleach is an oxidizer and destructive to organics
>monochloramine byproduct is toxic , kills pupates and makes nest uninhabitable
>bleach has the added benefit of disrupting scent receptors
>wasps' tracheae allows the bleach to have direct contact to their cells
Just make sure you dump out the mix after you're done because dish soap + bleach technically makes chlorine gas

It's got like semi-rearsets or something, I've left it entirely stock except for parts, mostly just curious if this would be more of a suspension probably or bike design problem. I've got the preload set to be as stiff as possible right now.

Better Suspension will always be better, but chances are your Suspension isn't setup right with your specfic weight with gear on. Maybe its the compression dampening. Idk if it has adjustability tho.

I did end up getting the sprocket shaft seal done, so not a complete loss I guess.

Was slightly miffed that of all the posts I read on the forums that this was the best way, only found one that mentioned the seal covers the spacer, and the spacer has an internal o-ring to replace, also, so I could have just taken out the fucking spacer with a soft-jawed channel lock and used a regular fucking seal pick.

Vibey Yamaha XJ6 anon here.
TL;DR: should exhaust side of cam chain has some slack or none at all?

I went to the shop asking for valve sync, they told me to get new valve cover gasket first, the rubber one that seals spark plug wells.
So I am waiting on this now.

I found this video:
https://youtu.be/_C6uTxJ7WDs
My situation is a bit different: my exhaust side of cam chain is not THAT loose and I am not black. However it is true for my bike that my cam chain tensioner works properly, but even so - it tensions intake side of CT normally, but exhaust side is loose, I can move the chain by hand and stick a screwdriver under it.

Does that mean I need new cam chain & cam chain sprockets?
I can't well open valve cover myself to look before damn rubber arrives, no guarantee I could close it without a leak and as of right now bike still SOMEWHAT runs so I use it occasionally.

Why not a Rebel 500?
Starting on a bike with the same power to weight ratio as a Ferrari 458 is not a smart idea. They are not the same as cars. I bet you don't even know that bikes steer in the opposite direction to cars. You're going to kill yourself on the first corner, especially since you obviously haven't budgeted for safety gear.

Because with rain mode and power levels you can make the throttle a lot less sensitive, and I dont want to pay 7/10ths the cost for half the bike just to want to trade it in a year or two later and have negative equity when i can basically use the electronics to simulate it being a weaker bike albeit being heavier
