I blame anime and inflation for this.

migrants (flipping cars is peak 3rd world)
social media (facebook is aids but it's the only game in town)

i'm forever blackpilled after having a $3k 6 speed manual tsx stolen from under my nose and flipped for $6k

even just 10-12 years ago buying a car was much more relaxed of an experience. you could go look at the car, maybe go home and think about it without the worry of it being sold in an hour. now you're competing with people without jobs who can look at a car at any time of the day/week and they've got cash ready to roll for their 3rd world flipping schemes

i would rather total my car with a hammer before selling to brown flipper scum. even the idea of using facebook to sell my car makes me want to gouge out my own eyeballs with a fork

Thats the real concern is fuckin social media like tik tok, every Faggot on tik toks like "dood hondas and Toyota are so reliable" and people take this shit as gospel and think a 20+ year old Honda is worth a shit ton of money because you'll never have to do anything to it, completely ignoring the steering rack that goes out, seals that need redoing, control arms need redoing, headliner falling on your head, just on and on and on with old cars, which is why people need to stop overpaying for old ass cars and not listen to chink tok.

it is social media's fault but not your reason, the reliability meme has always been a thing before social media and doesn't change how the market views used cars. The problem is the "flipping" trend, brokies are so desperate for cash they'll claw at any deal they think they can profit from, the worst ones have zero wrenching skill and think car wash and a tire shine is worth a 3k profit. The biggest bullshit of it all? Wrenching ability is irreverent, it's all about the ability to "sell me this pen." Facebook marketplace combined with flipper influencers is the biggest bullshit to happen to the used car market since cash for clunkers and CAFE

Moral corruption

People have just become insufferable. This is why everyone is just profitmaxxing in all aspects of life and not caring about others. I think social media has turned us all into greedy narcissists.

It should be illegal to buy something solely to turn around and sell it at a higher price for profit
Punishable by removal of hands

This is the world as the men live to chase profits while deaf to the words of prophets

I like it in Sweden, there are trackers here that track how many times a car has switched owners. So if a car is recently bought, you can tell instantly through its readily available history so you can tell the seller to fuck off.
