Third day of chatting up my moto waifu, sounds like she is very interested. She said she saw her college a married woman close with a different guy and the guy had a cool baik, my moto waifu said she was upset and she didn't even find out what bike he had. She said she walked away from there fast.Brehs, she looks like Onsa chan with lots of curly hair, but I'm more of a Hane chan guy, but I guess Onsa is cool too.

>>29060334Why are you "upgrading" from a CV to a flat slide? For the low end grunt? And I have a couple of those rubber couplers along with bolt down boots. Been experimenting with carb adapters for a bit with the Urals. The issue is that OG Ural carbs are mounted with nuts, with just a gasket between the head and the carb. Even worse is that the studs have a 52mm spacing which makes things more difficult as absolutely no one makes a boot that fits that spacing.Optimal route would be a slightly longer intake pipe between the carb and head, would both insulate the carb from heat and allow you to make all kinds of wacky adapters. The issue is space constraints, even with stock carbs your leg is rubbing against the carb and filter hosing, space is a premium and with the PWKs I ended up kicking them by accident a lot.

just finished my first riding lesson. first day of sitting on a motorcycle too. we were all on 500-600 pound harleys. heat index is 107 fuck it was hot. one guy who brought in his own helmet with skull graphics on it pussied out and quit at noon. mid exercise i just see his bike stopped and he's off it and an instructor tells us all to stop and talks to him for a sec and he goes and walks inside, then he was gone. dude gave up i guess, said he doesnt think this is for him. he was all scared after the first exercise with his voice shaking badly. maybe could have made it if he wasnt sleep deprived, running on a monster energy drink and trying to learn this in this heatmy bike was sportier than the others and 1st gear would bring it down to 5mph quick so when going in big ovals and switching between 2nd and 1st i quickly started smoothly rev matching to use engine braking instead of slowing down with the clutch because it felt a lot more natural. thats ok right? they didnt tell me to do that but we were supposed to go down to 1st gear every lap and that felt way too slow on that bike (they told me the 1st gear ratio was kinda way too short on it). didnt seem to say anything or didnt notice even though it should have been obvious with the sound. maybe they thought i was just being retarded

>>29060387The guys on the DR forums claim the pumper carb upgrade totally changes the bikes and makes it feel way faster. The bike has an aftarmarket piston and cam so I'm thinking the pumper might be more suited to it. >>29060465>Boxer engines seem like a paint to work onAbsolutely not, they're a god damn treat to work on, jap i4 bikes in comparison are a nightmare to work on. The beauty of boxers is that there's absolutely nothing under the tank, everything is out in the open.
>>29060332I don't fucking get it, bro. Is it legal to just add "Fuck you fee" to something and just have every dealer also agree to add fuck you fee to something? At what point does it become price fixing? I just don't understand

So I've tried three motorcycles by now, two naked and one picrel Versys. The two naked were providing almost zero wind protection obviously, but then the Versys feels surprisingly very similar. Except for the hands which are fully protected, the helmet is being blasted by the wind turbulence in both windshield positions. Now my question is, will it be better on Vstrom or Tracer which look very similar? Or it's the same for all motorcycles except full touring options like Goldwing, Harleys etc?
>>29060532Question everyone asks: How tall are you? A $40 fly windscreen may solve your problems.
>>29060554178cm (6'5)So the wind protection issue can be generally solved, with either those deflectors or bigger screens?
>>29060557That's 5'8 dude
>>29060557Also changing your riding position. You may just need another helmet as well. They make aftermarket deflectors for people around 6' tall since most bikes are made for people 5'6" (average human man height)

So what's the deal with these throttle cable elbows? They have an M5 thread with a 0.8mm pitch on it instead of having a regular inside thread for an adjustment screw. With a quick google search, I couldn't really find any adjustment nuts off the shelf either.I figured the cable for these things has 2 covers and an adjuster piece in the middle like on some dirt bikes. Is this some jap only thing? Because I'll just rip them out of the "Mikunis" and stick in regular cable elbows with adjustment nuts instead.
>>29061135>wow, look at this huge gash in the asphalt, it looks like a farmer dropped their cultivator>yep, that's what a motorcycle can do to the road >anyway, the victim's over here, his whole jaw got torn off>>29061189i think the elbow screws into the carb and then the adjustment happens in line up the cable. I only wear head cage because pigs keep bothering me without one Just don't crash lol
>>29061233Yeah, what I said. That's how it's usually done, but this elbow is press fit into the carb then something screws onto the pipe itself, not into the pipe like normal.Anyway, problem solved, I just ripped them out and brute forced some spare soviet elbows into place instead.

just test rode a Royal Enfield Guerilla 450first time riding a single cylinder with 40hp, but I gotta say it's actually pretty fun and plenty enough power for normal riding.the only thing I noticed is that it really doesn't do well in the lower refs and it starts hammering hard if I'm a little too low and it wants to be in a lower gear. and I felt like it's just a tiny bit lazy getting back up again after a turnother than that, it was a fun ride. so for a beginner like me, that much power should be enough for the time being. maybe not this bike, but that power range

You can rent a pickup a few days a year to haul whatever crap you need. I do agree with him as far as theft goes, cops genuinely do not care at all about motorcycle theft. Do not go motorcycle only unless you have a locking garage and an immobilizer bolted to the floor. You can get those absolutely massive chains that tear up angle grinders, although usually people are looking to steal motorcycles with big bolt cutters, since most people choose thin chains. >>29061362One thing I especially love about Kawasaki is the KRT color scheme. My first bike was a ninja, if I had a three bike garage, a ninja would definitely earn the third spot. >>29061406Yes, super cub is super based
>>29061412https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/security/motorcycle-chains-and-locks/how-to-choose-the-best-motorcycle-securityAccording to Bennetts, and my bike has survived an obvious theft attempt with some of the products listed in this article (formerly he recommended this giant chain from kryptonite), if you put a chain on your bike (in the UK) it's statistically less likely to be stolen than a car. So you can do a lot with very little effort to protect yourself.
>>29061362Learned to ride on one, my dad still owns the thing. It felt so stable at speed but it was way too easy to stall from standstill. Though everything about it felt very unforgiving and raw, however I haven't had a taste of a pure sportbike since then.

>>29061445the scrambler 400x doesn't have the high exhaust, that's the 900 and 1200doesn't have to, but I just find them aesthetically appealing and I don't really like sports bikes or naked bikes like the MT-07. I just like round or square headlights and instruments.I also looked at the Yamaha XSR700, a Bonnie T100 and Kawa Z650RS, but haven't had the chance to test ride them, because I didn't have my license yet when I looked at them

Pic1: Spark plugs on Monday after riding extensively on high-RPM.Pic2: Same spark plugs today on Thursday, after 3 days of stationary idle RPM tests.I didn't clean them or anything. Is it fair to assume that some shit is wrong with my ignition timing so on high RPM when O2 sensor stops compensating - two outer 1&4 cylinders start to get rich af mixture? Should I be blaming Camshaft Position Sensor or CU? CPS measures on-spec in resistance, but It needs oscilloscope to properly measure while running. I ain't have one.Them 1&4 cyl exhaust header pipes are also 40% colder than inner cylinders 2&3, consistent since lean runs hot and rich runs cool.>TBSI already did TBS at idle and ~5KRPM https://imgur.com/Kpk4d0X
>>29061480thats a honda he's sitting on my man
>>29061483>CU*ECU
>>29061483that left one is extra crispy, bottom row looks normal. It may be running a bit rich but I'm not sure it's THAT big of a deal. Oxygen sensors are a bitch to replace, CPS is literally just a magnet, it's one of those things that if it fails it's usually a broke wire or something obvious. If you're going to feel paranoid about it, replace all the sensors as much of a PITA it is.
>>29061489Also you're sure this has never been flashed or anything, right?
>>29061483Those look largely okay to me
>>29061494I have new O2 sensor but it ain't doing shit on high RPM.>>29061494>CPS is literally just a magnet, it's one of those things that if it fails it's usually a broke wire or something obviousSomething is making cul1-4 richer than cyl 2-3 by a lot. It can't be fuel since fuel rail is common for all 4 injectors, it can't be injectors since I swapped them around and replaced them, it can't be the coils or caps since I switched them around too.In my mind, it could only be fucky ignition timing from ECU or CPS. I can't think of anything else.>>29061497Previous owner had it for 11 years and NEVER changed spark plugs and air filter. I really doubt he flashed anything.>>29061499Top photo is taken in shit lighting the #1 and #4 are pitch fucking black and crispy with soot.
>>29061502They look fine, the leftmost is maybe a tad dark, but they're largely okay. I'd go take a pic of my plugs, but it's pitch black outside and I just came out of the sauna, so I can't be bothered to go pull plugs right now.If your ignition timing was fucked, all plugs would look like shit and the bike would run like crap too.If the EFI is fed from a single rail to boot, I'd suspect injectors first. Aren't the injectors fired in pairs anyway?
>>29061505>the bike would run like crap tooIt does, bitch vibrates like a tweaker past 4K RPM.> I'd suspect injectors first. Aren't the injectors fired in pairs anyway?Yeah 1-4 and 2-3 are injected, sparked, exhausted together, in pairs.I did run a diag test on injectors, they do in fact, inject fuel. I have two sets of working injectors now: original that came with bike and cheaper chinese. There's power on all of their connectors and they all pass the diag spray test in pairs.I don't know how well it can be seen in this scrunched up webm, but they do spray fuel in pairs from diag test. Spark plugs spark too, from nearby test.
>>29061513Have you bench tested the injectors? They might spray, but do they spray enough and how fucked up is the spray, you can't really tell that by eye.You can nigrig a homemade injector test bench and shoot fuel into cups to measure the flow.
>>29061516I kind of did that when I cleaned old injectors that came with the bike. I've used piece of hose with welded bicycle nipple to put good carb cleaner pressure into each and tapped contacts to battery. They were spraying fine. I don't know if it was ENOUGH, but at least it was even for all 4.
>>29060465Is that my boy Terry?
>>29061226 god i would kill for g350 distribution in the US holy shit
>>290615204 glass jars, connect the injectors to a rail and pump fuel through them for 10 seconds, measure the flow rate
>>29061412Agree and disagree. It's totally location dependent. If you live somewhere with no snow, it's very doable. I was bike only for years when I lived in SoCal. I have since moved somewhere where we get pretty frequent snowfall in the winter. Is it doable on a motorcycle, yes, and I have. It's a whole lot nicer to have a car in the winter though, especially when the roads aren't really plowed yet and you're trying to get to work. Sliding a little when you don't want to isn't super fun in a car. It's less fun when it's the front wheel of your bike. There WILL be ice in those conditions. It's just a matter of where and when.
>>29061526AFAIK you're not supposed to power injectors solenoids for whole-ass 10 seconds, only to pulse them. They can fry. But seems superficial considering swapping them around or even replacing them with new ones, changes nothing.
>>29061532Of course I didn't mean to shoot them full blast for 10 seconds, that's not how injectors work anyway. There should be youtube tutorials how to make an el cheapo injector test bench. That being said, you got something really fucked up going if swapping coils and injectors around does nothing.Have you checked valve adjustment?
>>29061522Not worth the effort. People don't like small bikes here, and they don't like scooters. Heck the Vespa GTS is available here, and I don't know that I've seen one. You do see some 50ish cc scooters like the Primavera in bigger cities for people who just stay in the city, but that's mostly it.
>>29061436Why would I want a V8 Mercedes Cruiser?
>>29061531I live in a snow region, I certainly don't fault anyone who thinks its not for them. I just refute the idea that it's impossible or totally unpleasant. I quite like the surprised look on cagers faces at 10°FBeing honest, if I came into a windfall of a few thousand dollars, I would probably buy a beater. I'm really tired not of snow in winter, but of hail in summer, and waiting out lightning storms. Hail at on the highway hurts so bad.
>>29061537>you got something really fucked up going To put it mildly. I've sunk entire bike worth into tools, replacement parts, deliveries & work. It kinda feels bad to give up and sell the bike now.>Have you checked valve adjustment?Yeah, had a shop do it 2 weeks ago. They removed intake camshaft and changed some shims. I opened up valve cover today and they did make some marks and aligned sprockets on TDC properly.Cam chain is nearing its end, but CCT is keeping it tight for now. Webmrelated is CCT after turning crank over a bit, tight.

>>29061429Very cool lore anon, to start on one of those is pretty legit. Must've gained some skills for sure. The stalling issue sounds like the carbs need some tuning, your dad shouldn't give it up. 900cc super sports are rare, let alone a fully carbbed one with 144hp out of the box.
>>29061562Depends on where they are and what jurisdiction you're in. If they're in your garage and you have castle doctrine on your side, you're probably good. Any other situation and decent odds you're getting convicted of something, goes double in a duty to retreat state.
>>29061569>duty to retreat stateNTA but sounds like a (you) problem to live in a shithole like that.
>>29061564I think what it taught me well is how to have proper restraint while not being afraid of power and weight. Also it really required of me to be properly relaxed while riding, otherwise the positioning tires you out and fucks you up quite quickly unlike with other more street-oritented bikes I was trying out at the same time. But I guess I didn't really learn enough kek, it was until quite a bit later with my own bike when I was able to properly countersteer. I had accumulated too many habits and muscle memory with bicycles over the years and barely any of that carried over to motorcycles.
>>29061574>it was until quite a bit later with my own bike when I was able to properly countersteer.
Is Suzuki the most premium Japanese brand? Kawasaki is the cheapest, but I don't understand the difference between brands really.
Oh great it's another>American who had never had an altercation ever say he will shoot and kill someone who looks at him the wrong way because it's his constitutional right thread.Had enough of these. You won't do shit.
>>29061591Japanese brands are already head and shoulders above their competition. the only other countries which generally makes really good, dependable machinery is Germany and Austria. We could also get into a fist fight about which one is the best. But between the four brands, you're basically splitting hairs. Get the model you want, but always remember: Hondas are built the strongest and are the classiest!
>>29061597Oh great it's another>yuropoor who had never had an altercation ever says you have to let feral humans break into your home and steal your shitHad enough of these. You won't do shit.
>>29061591Honda is generally seen as the premium brand.Suzuki is "The bikes of 15 years ago, today", for better or worse. But they all have more and less expensive options.
>>29061603Eh, I feel like Honda's starting to do a decent bit of that too. They're doing new things with their more expensive bikes, even if the e clutch is an abomination in my mind, but all of the mini moto stuff and the XR 150, especially the Navi and XR are kinda ancient technology. As an example of this, compare the XR150 to the WR125R. Prices aren't that far apart, but the engine tech and suspension are miles apart.
>>29061591I thought it was yamaha and honda until both started shitting out CP2 and CP3 slop in all their frames and cancelling things like the r1 and r6After i had the zx14r experience, both kawi and suzuki seem like the bike from 15 years ago, bold new colors, and good stuff modernized and worked into themI feel like honda is still too experimental and avant guarde with weird shit. >>29061601>good, dependable machinery is Germany and AustriaJapanese make dependable machinery with sane assumption that people are retards and wouldn't maintain their vehicle properly.Germans make dependable machinery that remains dependable only as long as it is maintained exactly according to manufacturer instructions. If not - fuck you, you're on your own.>>29061591Honda is the most reliable and most expensive.
>>29061591That's a wild take. Kawasaki is probably the most premium, although I could accept an argument for Honda based off of the Goldwing alone, even if the rest of their bikes aren't particularly premium. Suzuki is far and away the cheapest.
>>29061621Parallel twin is the worst engine configuration.

Hi, me again.I decided on a VTR1000F.I got two options and I want to hear your opinion what you'd go for:Option 1 >Local private seller>9000km very clean>€2300>Year 2000>Gen 1, Carburettor and smaller 160km fuel tank.Option 2>Dealer seller but very far away. Would buy it sight unseen online >11000km very clean>€3500>Year 2005>Gen 2, fuel injection and bigger 200km fuel tankNot necessarily buying to keep forever, just want a taste of a VTR and have it as a fair weather 2nd bike. I'd be spending €400 on an exhaust system for either option.
>>29061650I should add, option 1 needs a pair of new tires while option 2 is good to go
>>29061650>buy it sight unseen onlineThis is the only thing that would worry me about bike 2. Fuel injection is nice.

Cruisers aren't bikes I would suggest as a first, its either a naked or a dual sport, or at most a light ADV bike if you have the money and want a mix of 50/50 of those two. 400X will feel pretty meh since you already tried the Guerilla, Bear should be fun, yet you will indeed notice the weight difference. V7 is a high contender though, also best looking one of this list.Suggest you give a dual sport a try anyways, if you have a place to practice offroad, then you should highly consider one of these since it will help you hone your riding skill by a milestone and make asphalt a joke.>>29061531>Location dependentThis, also bring a fucking bike cover with a cheap bicycle lock to keep it in so people don't remove it, best concealment is keeping the identity of it hidden. >finish riding class and get endorsement>realize I have to ride on roads with other cars now for the first time>if I buy a bike I will have to drive it through dense traffic to avoid paying hundreds to have it delivered Uhhh soo can I like arrange to pick it up from a dealership at like 6am or something or...If i get it home I only have to drive a hundred feet before I can turn into a neighborhood and practice more... but traffic around here's kinda bad on all the regular roads
>>29062336>buying a new bike for your firstanon... buy something you arent afraid to drop multiple times.
>>29062314>I'm install a android auto/car play screen to my bikeSo here's the thing about that: Those usually communicate with the car somehow with a standard that is not found on bikes. So unless this is just a head unit for carplay with no interoperability, then who cares? The reason they're telling you to tap off ignition instead of a bulb is because of the fuse sizes. The bulb fuze sizes are precise and usually small because how many parker bulbs you have is a known quantity. Your starting current isn't, and thus it's certain your starting circuit is fused to support that + a little more while also having a wire harness that's beefy enough to run the starter. >can't I upsize the fuzes? If you want water inside of a bad bulb to potentially melt wires, sure.
>>29062339Listen to this anon, I did not listen to him and I bought a brand new dual sport for way too much money. I now baby it so much that I feel like I have drained some of the fun out of it when the point of these things is to ride them hard in the dirt until they explode
>>29062345ok mr reddit spacing the bike is not that precise. it has 4 fuses total. wrong place to ask I guess. fucking retard.
>>29062339Or not a dealership but a used bike. My point still stands.
>>29062346Yeah i didn't mean to make it sound like I was even thinking of buying new from a dealership, or even old from a dealership
>>29062351>OldI mean usedFuck i was falling asleep and saw replies and woke up i should have just gone to sleep
>>29062347>ok mr reddit spacing the bike is not that precise. You didn't even tell us what bike you had you stupid knuckle-dragging nigger. Having LESS fuses means you have LESS overhead on each fuse. You fucking idiot. If you want to melt every wire on your harness, be my guest, but there isn't a place that isn't full of shit-fer-brains morons like you who will tell you it's OK to put a 20W entertainment system off a 5W bulb. Please, go melt your bike. You'll do the world a favor.
>>29062362G650GS
and its 5 fucking watts for the screen nigger same as a globe
>>29062365>G650GS>Only has four fuses>https://www.scribd.com/document/1056269217/F650gs-Fuse-Info>eight fuses on G650GS>Four on F650GSYou are an illiterate wrenchlet who should not be touching your bike's electronics if you can't even identify what bike you have. Take it to a professional if you know what is good for you.
>>29062367>5W + 5W = 5WPlease take your bike to a professional.
>>29062371Its almost like there are 2 types of G650GS (spoiler mines a single cylinder) you fucking dumb cunt. I'm fucking done in here. You are all retarded and not once gave me an answer. Suck my chode.
>>29062378You already got your answer, nigger. The installation guide for your unit says to put it on the ignition circuit. The posts online say to put it on the ignition circuit. The diagram for your bike's fuses tell you that the fuse for the accessory lights are small compared to the ignition circuit, and when asked to provide your bike's model; you give the wrong model because you're a stupid cunt. It's not the service manual, the posts online, and the instruction manual for your head unit that's wrong. Why did you even ask us? You clearly made your mind up that you were going to do it the wrong way.>I'm fucking done in hereSo long, retard. Good luck melting your $15K BMW's wire harness and getting someone with a brain to fix it for you.
>>29062314The other guy is harping on fuses but there's a much bigger reason: Light bulbs in series in a DC circuit act as a big resistor that only output the wattage of the bulb. So your circuit only has the wattage of the bulbs in series, but if you wire it in parallel - this happens:https://web.physics.ucsb.edu/~lecturedemonstrations/Composer/Pages/64.36.htmltl;dr lighting circuits are limited not by their fuses but by the bulbs themselves. That's why they're saying use another circuit.
>>29062398>>29062398>>29062398
>>29062393No the fuses are a much bigger issue, who cares about the head unit? Fuses are to protect the wires. The stupid nig is about to grenade his entire electrical system and the worst part is he's retarded enough to think that's our fault, too. LMAO
>>29062331>its all 12v. i just want to know why people advise cutting into something important on the bike than auxiliary.Anyone who says it's "Too Important" to "Cut" into the starter system shouldn't be doing electronics for their bike. Your starter system is a series of wire blocks that connect to either a switch or a start system. It's not a precise piece of engineering and if you aren't comfortable with that, don't do the job.
>>29062336Yes you can, my first bike I had them leave the key taped under the fender and I came and picked it up at like 8pm.
>>29062420This was a dealership?I wonder if its worth trusting a person you're buying from online
>>29062328Suzuki girls are blessed anon.
>>29062445Yes this was from a dealership, Cross Country Power Sports in Metuchen, NJ. Took an uber down, then rode home to South Orange. Dealers don't care about the theft risk, they already have your money.
>>29062400Electrical engineer here. I don't really know how electricity works, but I guess my main concern would be the size of the wire going to the bulb. It would probably be sized for the load, and if you add another load on the same wire then you could draw more than it can handle. I don't know how much current a head unit draws, but I'm imagining a tiny little gaming PC so it would surely use a reasonable amount of power, even if it isn't wired up to any speakers. Just run a new wire, don't be lazy.
>>29062716I'd say 40W is a reasonable expectation for a smallish head unit. 20W if you get something that doesn't even have a screen. But the thing to also remember is the fuse is sized to protect the wires, not the components. So in theory, if no other modifications are done, the fuse would go before the wires. Again, this is assuming the person in question doesn't have the fuse pop, and then upsizes the fuse to keep the load. The danger of that being the same as anyone who upsizes a breaker in their house to fit a new entertainment system: It looks like it's working at first, and then over time, you start to smell something burning.
>>29062716>Electrical engineer here. I don't really know how electricity worksthe west is so over, bros
>>29062474Why didnt you have the key, you didnt buy it in person?
>>29061747I found and ate some though?
>>29061986Very based post Thank you for the luck
