I want to make high quality parts at home and invest in proper equipment but it's a lot of information to process + unsure what skills should be sharpened before heavy investment. I imagine math? NTA but I've never even heard of somebody here, or on k, that likes you. Simply, you talk like a fag and your shit's all retarded. If you were competent at something you'd have a shred of respect... somewhere. And yet. We would be delighted to learn of your demise.

But anyway. Boys, how should I go about making a custom intake manifold for a vtwin? I've been out of the fab game for a few years and my brain is drawing a blank. I don't want to have to buy a 3d scanner or learn CADD. Should I just buy a variety pack of pie cuts and take it slow? How would I do a half decent job the old fashioned way... what is the old fashioned way for something like that? I would prefer to make it in such a way I could put together a print so I could build more of these without a jig in the future if the scene wanted them.

I then TIG welded some intercooler piping to the mikuni carb to get the intake around the rear shock, it was really tight, usually there’s a large rubber boot that squeezes by the rear shock but I did aluminum tubing and massaged it into shape, the bike ran so much better with a single large flat slide

Also, you should see how Honda welded the exhaust, this is a pic of after grinding it down, the weld literally blocks like 50% of the entire exhaust opening and the bikes still make amazing power, it’s a common mod to grind the weld down but it doesn’t even make a noticeable difference when riding

1) service

On the fucking cold side of the intake? If anything it’s acting like a heat sink and pulling heat out of the carb

How are the jets going to warp deep inside the carb? Do you even understand how a carb works kek
I could hold the part after welding it, aluminum is an excellent heat sink
>>29064004

>>29063732
>>
>>29064015
That's the cool thing about exhausts my little wrenchlet buddy - they don't need to be anywhere near as big or flow anywhere near as smoothly as the intake because the engine is pushing the gas out.
What's the diameter on that exhaust "restriction" and how does it compare to the exhaust valve diameter?

Then why are they making 1k+ hp all day long like it’s a damn 2jz?
>>
>>29064033
There is a third option - you could just make a part that's not shit.
What density of air is required for the industrial powerplant to make 1000hp?
>>
>>29064039
Except it’s actually running better than the old carb because the carb is slightly bigger and it has a pumper and a flat slide, they changed to a single carb on the later bikes for a reason
As for your second question, I’ll just wait for you to answer it

Did they make a better manifold for their single carb?
>>
File: IMG_0603.jpg (261 KB, 1290x2180)

>>29064048
The frame and shock are entirely different on the single carb, they offset the shock to the left to make room for a larger single carb instead of having 2 carbs that go around the centered shock, hence the awkward angle and super short length of the intake I made
A few people have attempted what I’ve done, it’s either this or put the newer single carb head on but you still have to fight with the shock that’s in the way due to packaging issues
>>
>>29064054
Did they make a better manifold or not?
>>

Judging by that one no, it’s also flat at the back where it mates up to the head, I did put a nice radius on the ports before welding it all out

He could probably do another pass over it with the tig torch to melt some of that out, but it might introduce more. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't fucking matter. It's not structural, and it produced a working part, which is more than you have ever done...

While there are some things that require a hand drill, this poster is a boomer faggot. Buy today's tools.

Everything you can make on your faggy little desktop cnc I can make faster and better with traditional tools. The only way CNC wins is with really complex parts or mass production.

That sounds like there are some things you cannot make faster or better with conventional tools

Most parts are not very complex. You'll spend more time modeling it on your gay computer than it would take me to make it.

Yoi should go get some pics from the hawk fire.
Like really close.
Ill bet pics of "your" wrangler driving through the flames would be awesome to post on /mlp/

>muh billet
You could have made that out of folded sheet metal with a vise and hand tools, retard.
>>
>>29067190
He could have made it out 2x4s on a table saw also.

Braking flat would be way more efficient. Welded tabs onto sheet aluminum or steel would have been nearly as efficient as braking flat material. Subtractive machining has to be the most idiotic/wasteful way to make something like said bracket.

Yeah but once you have the measurements all set up you can't go wrong, with welding strips of metal together it's way too easy to get a tack to pull things out of square

This nigga gets it
The only computer allowed in my cars is the one that controls timing and fueling, idle control is optional but I'd really rather a choke lever, and maybe another computer for music if the car is quiet enough.

stg44 was a stamped gun that existed before the AK, Russians don't innovate, only copy like Chinese
>>
>>29067325
Get gud son... Yes welds can and do pull. Proper welding technique and clamping can negate this to the point it doesn't matter much. Sometimes you can also build things in place so they fit 100% without a whole lot of measuring or fiddle-fucking around.

I did. twice. And fun fact, bending sheet metal can create a stress concentration at the bend that makes it much more susceptible to fatigue failure after x amount of vibrations. Even if it's strong enough, it was probably going to fail on me eventually. The reservoir hangs off the bracket quite a bit and bounces around a lot, especially on track.

Even the spacer Kraftwerks supplied with the reservoir failed. This is the 4th time I've fucked around with it, and every time it fails, bolts fall out while I'm driving, hence the mismatched bolt nonsense going on.

I got pissed off and just made it out of a solid block of aluminum. And why not? I just grabbed a scrap chunk of aluminum we had sitting in the corner of the shop, so it literally cost me nothing other than a couple hours of programming and machining time.

Niggas really be out there "modding" their cars when they don't even have a harbor freight mig

I'm gonna laff when your aluminum bracket fatigue cracks... Let me guess you made your first ones out of super light sheet metal like 10 gauge or lighter?

>a couple hours
