Yeah, some of them had a mechanical autoclutch. They have semi-automatic transmissions, like Izh Jupiters do.
You press the shifter and a rod extends out of the tranny, pressing in the clutch lever.

Has anybody else here bought an old bike? My GL500 cost $800, and it's a miracle that I was able to get it home. Nothing says project bike like the seller repeatedly trying to sell the bike as being "just like a Harley".

This thing was completely immobile for a couple of years while I tried to figure out how to turn a wrech.

After repeated disassemblies, reassemblies, replaced parts, and a few bouts of angry swearing and cursing, I finally got it back on the road!

I tried writing out everything thing I had to do to get thing moving again, but it turns out that theres a 2000 character limit here.

There's still quite a bit of work to be done, but those issues are a job for next year me.

Soviets copied everything from Germans, including the reverse gear. They tried to directly copy BMW R75 from 1940s which had a reverse gear but couldn't figure it out while having all plans on hand lmao, so they were using the earlier BMW R71 copy from before 1930s which didn't have a reverse gear. They only managed to produce their first reverse gear clone on motorcycles two decades later. The local russian swine probably swapped the gearbox.

The R71 was the Motolov Ribbentrop bike, the R75 was completely out of the question back then due to it not being suitable for Russian needs.
The R75 was also a copy of the Zündapp KS750 along with its reduction gear.
That Russian tranny looks nothing like a BMW transmission.
>>
>>29075611

No they literally could not reproduce it in mass production which they tried and failed at valves afaik. Everything else what I said also stands, don't know where you see a mistake.

>>29075621
They failed at not having fancy modern automated welding shops for the chassis like the Germans did, the OHV engines also weren't suitable for Russian needs because they lacked the low end torque of the flatheads, that's why they preferred the R71 over the R75.
When the war started, their biggest concern was to just get bikes out for the military instead of fancy designs, that's why the PMZ-A-750 was discontinued too.

The R75 ended up as one of the TMZ-53 prototypes that also never went anywhere.

Close to the 10k km service, if it wasn't so hot during summer i would have reached them right as i came back home but i still have a bit of time before the weather degrades quickly into shit rain cold season.
Adv dad says i'll probably won't reach the next service after this because i'll change motorcycle and there is an r1200r fully kitted out with less than 5k km looking at me because the owner probably quickly found out that his porsche is more comfortable than riding and never used it...we'll see

I normally run around defending Harley bc most criticism is unfounded, but here's one that lands 100%: It's 2026 and Harley will still sell you a 900+ pound bike with no sort of reverse gear at all. And there's been extremely robust actual reverse gears (not the starter running backwards) in the aftermarket for decades. Totally ridiculous. The giant Harley tourers (or the G-Wing, or the K1600) are not my cup of tea anyway, but it's still an unreasonable omission.

not enough to go by. it depends on who had lane position prior. there's only 1 second of footage before they make contact.
if blue was trying to under cut red, it's on him for not having the speed to do it and not backing off enough. red could have just been following the apex, with the lead, thus giving him position. if red was trying to overtake, he did it too late in relation to the turn

Not that I'm aware of desu, the previous owner did modify the suspension cause the air ride stopped working. I wouldn't put it past him he gave me a feeling that he genuinely loved this bike so I owe it to him to take care of it. Checked some of the rubber as well and it looks fairly new as well.

it's very fun i like it. all in all it's a duke 390 but that doesn't look edgy and it's somewhat comfy for me.
I did a couple of 700+ km rides this summer and took it to do some offroad it totally wasn't designed for but it always managed to get me back home and i only have an odd error light that sometimes pop up with no error message on the dash but everything work, apparently just a minor resistance error on the brake sensor for the rear brake or something, everything works even when that happens so apparently it's something about some minor resistance error that throws a warning or something but i still need to get it checked.

i think if you want something to putt around it's a nice unique looking bike and unless you really want to take it on gravel roads you can get the vitpilen for a bit less with proper road tires. it's still plenty fun to pull it on some nice roads. when going around a bit spirited i do around 26km/L but if you just go nice and chill you easily go above 30. highway at 130km/h will drop a lot tho,sub 20 (i think i reached 13 recently because i had a lot of wind against)
>>
>>29075901
It's a dogshit bike that will flop.
>>
>>29075921
I'd definitely look into a valve adjustment then; what's the mileage? It's a small pain in the ass, but effectively refreshes your engine to running like new. That, plus all new fluids, bled brakes, oil change etc. should be the first thing you do, bar-none. If you can, I'd even empty the gas tank out, clean any fuel filters (bikes that have been owned by the same owner for a long time often have aftermarket generic petcocks, in line fuel filters etc.). Run some seafoam through it with your first tank of gas, too.
>>29075931
Looks like a comfy spot to ride, anon. Offroading on a roadbike is always funny.
Buy a battery retainer just in case that resistance error kills your battery during the winter tho.

The secret is to hide your face behind tinted/mirrored visors and your head behind an expensive carbon helmet. Also the jacket and pants need to have darker tones. If your head in the helmet looks like picrel you've already lost.
>>
>>29075960
are you on a motorcycle?
Then you are cool, anon :)
>>
>>29075937
I think it will do aright
but Im going to wait for vstrom 700xt instead of buying that
>>

>it will do aright
The only thing that will probably happen is the price on used Vstrom 650 will rise a lot, because everyone would try to get one instead.

Thanks anon.

My pants are ugly, they look like this pic and no mirrored visor and my cheeks look slightly pushed up. So I got all the ugly points.

I want one of these fuckers but I cannot find one available for the life of me.
Harley kicker pedal. Need it for a 70s POS

how much gear should I wear on a 50cc scooter going no more than 35 mph?
besides obviously gloves helmet and shoes but like 200 pounds doesn't seem too much to break my ankles if it falls on there right?
>>
>>29076018
30mph can still injure. Buy boots at the least.
Are you asking because you don't have the money for full kit or you just want to know if it's unsafe?
>>
>>29076018
Leg breaks are only an issue off-road,
Subluxation, Avulsion and Dismemberment are the road issues.

helmet
full face is always prefer but you do you
sure in super fatal crash, no amount of gear is going to save you
but a lot of case a full face would save your teeth otherwise compare to a brain bucket
>>

>going no more than 35 mph?
But how fast is the SUV that runs you over going?
>>
I will say it whenever it comes up. I am a shameless atgattfag. I won't evangelize but I never have to ask myself these questions.

why do you think that?
it replaces the sv650
one of the best selling bikes of all time

Kevlar reinforced pants doesn't hurt, and they still look like civi clothes
The gloves and helmet and jacket are the big ones tho
>>29076039
Don't apologize for holding the correct stance. Wearing gear is just smart with 0 downsides.

My brother in christ, you chose the gear

I just need pants and a jacket
I don't mind wearing a jacket but man I hate wearing pants especially if it's hot or I'm going to work and need to work in them. Honestly if they feel the same as jeans I guess it's fine
>>
>>29076043
The kevlar reinforced pants are great, and some brands set them up in a way that vents better. Only catch is some pants are a little heavier than normal pants, so if you're working in them. You might notice slightly more fatigue than usual. If you're fighting heat, then look for a jacket with air vents in the shoulders and pits so you cool down hella when you're moving
>>
>>29076043
Kevlar jeans are indeed heavier but still feel like jeans but with pads. Look into vented motorcycle pants. Basically anything is better than normal pants.
Get a good jacket, not just for protection but think about pockets, vents, comfort. Good gear makes the ride more enjoyable and you're probably going to move on from the 50cc one day. All the gear can come along with you

I'm going to say it

I HATE adventure bikes and the limp wristed boomers that like them are retarded

They are ugly, shit at everything, too heavy to offroad properly, bad ergo for twisties, too fat for comfy splitting, shit aerodynamics for croozing.
Are they even comfy to ride?
Are they just poser bikes like Harleys mostly are?
(I am not picrel)
>>
>>29076063
I like Harleys despite never having owned one. I don't think Harley owners are all posers, sometimes you're content with just owning the thing even if you don't ride it.
>>
>>29076063
I don't like adv bikes either but their riders probably look at our sports bikes and see boisterous design, uncomfortable seating position, no windshield etc.
I like that bikes are different enough to suit the rider
fwiw they're meant for touring and you can get a lot of luggage on there with a comfy upright seating position
but... not for me either
>>
>>29076041
Because SV650 was much cheaper and looked cooler without this cheap kawasaki-style plastic, while offering no benefits.
