The G8X M2/3/4 S58 UDMs make 680hp/750nm with just a remap.Nutty
>>29082795that's every modern sports car with even a slight fanbase now. basically all cars are just computer gated
>>29082802yeah but here’s a truthbomb: a pre 2000 car with 300hp will always feel more exciting and faster (perceived speed) as a 800hp computer on wheels. Even the basic pull 0-60 feels special on an old car with some power under the hood. You don’t feel anything in modern cars in comparison
>>29082814I can confirm. I have gone from 600HP modern cars to a MY2000 with 400HP. The newer cars are fun in their own rights but I found myself having to push them very hard to get fun out of them vs my older car where just some back roads action was the most intense driving I have done in years, I haven't felt this involved in driving in a while, had my heart pumping like crazy lol. Not to mention I got way more comments about the older one, I don't think I ever had this happen.Pic rel.
>>29082814modern cars are heavy as fuck, so unless you get into the extreme torque route, the car will always feel planted and safe. a 300hp car 20 years ago was much lighter
>>29082847+torsional rigidity--heavy cars just consume tires brakes and suspension much fasterI prefer lighter cars.
>>29082840>>29082847the new ones are just so effortlessly fast. you don’t even realize just how fast you’re going in no time. No driver involvement at all. yes the speeds and (lap)times are insane, but it’s not emotional at all. >muh emotionsYes
>>29082814>>29082840>>29083001At what point does a car turn from an exciting experience to "the car drives itself"?
>>29083001>>29083049The F90 will allow an non experienced driver to push the envelope a lot more for sure, they are good at making you feel better than you actually are until you lose it so bad even the DSC can't save your ass. (Cue to every fucking M car crash on instagram). The E39 hasn't scared me yet, I am trying to test it's limits slowly to figure out where I can have fun without wrapping it around a tree. I went with brand new PS4S so that affords me a decent amount of fuck factor I can play around with, the thing can still hug corners, albeit with more body roll than the F90, but an M5 is still an M5.I like this discovery phase I am having with the older one unlike the F90 where you pretty much get in and it's plug and play.
can you remap the way it looks?
>>29083001>>muh emotions>Yesbeing an enthusiast by default means you're chasing an emotional responsesomething benchracers could never understand
>>29082795All that and it'll still get gapped by a stock Tessie Plaid kek>>29082814spbpStraight line speed is rapidly becoming an entirely irrelevant metric. Just don't tell the no hesi/swimming fags that, since high powered pigfat cars are basically only good for high speed jaunts on highways and nothing else.
>>29082994You mean you're poor.
>>29082994The suspensions are damn near perfect after being designed with computers way more advanced than originally. Nowadays you can just add coilovers and camber bolts/plates and its all you need when older cars needed control armsGreat factory aero (again, why cars like the Type R are so fast) Torsional Rigidity + NVH Improvements = don't feel the speed because the cars are stiff and quiet inside. Turbos = Fat Midrange with No Drama, Turbo Tech improved too where spool times are closer to 2200-2800rpms vs 3200-3500rpms. DI = Great fuel economy and more horsepowerIf they're auto they shift better/faster than any manual (DCT Elantra N vs CTR 6MT, has the Elantra coming extremely close to the CTR). More importantly way more grip, way more tire to make up for the slight increase in weight (something like a CTR has 265s from the factory...a C5 Corvette had 245/275s)Compare something like a 2005 Focus RS to a 2025 Civic Type R. Same hp/weight. Or even a Evo 7-9/GDB STi to a FL5 CTR. Again, same hp same weight, but the older cars drive completely different. The weight gain wasn't terrible for a lot of cars too. For stuff other than the luxury cars which ballooned because they're often sharing platforms with crossovers. CTR and Elantra N is 3200lbs. Evo X and VAB STi and VB WRX is 3400-3500lbs. ND MX5 is 2300lbs. GR86/BRZ is 2800lbs. Even something like a G80/82 M3 or Mustang is like 3700-3800lbs. Often the weight gain of bigger engines, bigger brakes, tires was offset by use of aluminium and high-strength steel. The cars did get bigger in some cases (higher beltlines to improve side impact/pedestrian impact testing + consumers who want bigger cars)
>>29082795Those tunes BMWs are time bombs though.I can't tell you how many dudes I work with went that route. And then their transmission dies.Axle goes boom.CV joints grenadeTurbos wear our because the IATs are way higher.Exe
>>29084304copemight wanna consider a corolla instead. the UDM delivers perfection and as such demands proper care (and money in your bank). can’t get the finest driving experience for free pal
>>29082795Weird body kit on that mustang.
>>29083198straightline speed is pointless now as tire technology and gearing has basically made it irrelevant what engine you put in the car. forgot where but there was a video where they proved that a 2000's golf gti just needed a set of modern tires to keep up with a stock new gti
>>29082795nice bodylines
