What's the biggest threat when you're /out/? A wild animal or a homeless tweaker?
>>2834161the government
>>2834161neither. it's myself
>>2834169Anon, I....
>>2834179You don't smell shit when adrenaline is coursing through your veins. You only focus on one thing, and that's the stupid ass human in your path. The best advice I can give, is to stay the fuck away from a 800 lb grizzly that just wants you to go the fuck away. But humans know best as always
As with most things, its trips, slips, and falls
>>2834186How is that possible with every government mandated trail making every effort to prevent idiots from doing this?
>>2834190You've obviously never actually hiked in national parks. The worst national Park trail I've ever been on is the very first trail in the northern section of Canyonlands National Park. It's a little 5.5 mile loop that claims 400 feet of elevation gain. But in reality it's a trail that goes up and down a burgeoning canyon throughout all it's little fingers. It's steep as fuck and the only "stairs" they built into the trail are fragile little pieces of slate they stacked up 16 inches. There are tons of quite challenging and utterly rewardless trails in national parks, let alone the forests and wilderness areas.
>>2834169May you find some solace in the serenity of nature, my brother.
>>2834161The biggest threat to your life is statistically drowning. The biggest threat to your health is probably dehydration or hyperthermia. >muh wild animals!>muh drug addled maniacs! Those are just more fun to talk about which is why there are countless threads about them.
>>2834199So when I'm lost in the middle of the forest, my biggest statistical threat is drowning? Glad I posted here lol
>>2834208>frogposter newfag doesn't even understand the board he is posting onYou love to see it
I live on the Mexican border so either smugglers or mountain lionsLike half the trails I go on say "BEWARE OF SMUGGLERS AND ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IN THIS AREA"
>>2834161In my area, slipping and falling off a rock wall.
>>2834200t. retard who doesn’t understand averagesMost of those deaths are from boating or swimming, not hiking in a desert in the dry season. I shouldn’t have to explain how averages work. >if I’m lost durr durrDehydration (or hyperthermia this time of year) are the biggest threats. Again, you’re fucking stupid.
>>2834161I know /out/ talks about bears a lot but how bug a threat are feral hogs? if you meet a sounder with a few big boars and hungry sows are you in trouble?
>>2834325You probably won’t. Sounders are exclusively female. Males only come around to mate. And just like bears they all run off.
>>2834161Neither. Homeless are harmless and don't go /out/ in the first place, and wild animals (outside of some jungles or the arctic) know well enough that they can't take humans. The biggest threat in my experience are untrained dogs, mostly near tourist spots. Attacks are pretty rare, though -so far (~20 years of regular /out/) I've hookpunched one when it was going for my throat, stabbed one with a walkingstick when it was charging, and kicked two that approached apparently friendly, then suddenly tried to bit my legs (and both times, got stuck on my boots). Also being american, apparently. In the my area (western Germany), over the last five years, here have been three american tourists getting lost and almost dying. It's hilarious, for example:>two american women come from Ramstein and Kaiserslautern>want to hike the palatinate forest>park their car on a tourist parking lot, ~150m from the road>go for a short, 2km circular hike>woman A stumbles and injures her leg>no phone service>both return to the car the way they came (which, at that point, was 1,8km instead of 200m the other way)>Car won't start for some reason (police never stated why, my suspicion is they accidentally put it in neutral and couldn't find the clutch)>A stays in the car, B goes on foot to get help>B never reaches the village, which is literally 2km down the road, downhill all the way>three days later, hikers find the car with A in it, covered in feces and urine from being unable to get up>B still lost>cops organize a massive search, calling on every hunter or forest worker in the area>we start combing through the woods, but can't find her>returning to the parking lot, one guy hears weak voices right next to the parking lot>turns out B tried to take a shorter path to the road - cutting through a 10m depression to shorten the ~150m to ~100m, couldn't get back up the incline, walked circles, tried to build a shelter the first evening, then was to dehydrated to move.
>>2834208>>2834212>frogposter doesn't go outside Why do they keep reinforcing this stereotype? I'd never even seen that stereotype before /out/ started mentioning it. Oddly enough, it's never been disproven.
>>2834329Homeless are fucking scum and they will rape and kill you if they are able On top of the constant theft, vandalism, littering, and drug useFuck you and fuck homeless trash

>>2834330You should learn to read if that's what you got from those two posts.
Biggest threat is dogs people can't afford to keep anymore, shitty economy. So they drive to the country and dump them.I live in a rural area, at least once a week a new stray dog shows up, eventually head Inna woods and in a few weeks turn back to the wild animal they evolved from, let 2 or more pack up and it gets worse.
>>2834161these fuckers.
>>2834161Me making a clumsy step and falling. There are bears here but the chances of encountering any of them is very low, they stay away from the trails. Compared to cities the wilderness is much safer.
>>2834307you ever seen anything along those lines?
>>2834414Indian Reservations are always a joy since those fuckers seem to think it's perfectly fine to just let their dogs roam the streets in giant packs for some reason.
>>2834633The only problem with them letting their dogs roam free is that tourists will unknowingly dognap one thinking its a stray to be rescued and take it out of the area. Otherwise its much healthier for the dogs to roam and socialize than live the tiny apartment life or being abandoned at home 9 hours a day life that most people have their dogs live
probably falling and breaking a bone
>>2834161slippery rock
>>2834186thisThe varying severity of /out/ is almost soley based on the increasing likelehood of inconvenience to death based on distance x a sliding scale of twisted ankle-compound fracture.
>>2834161People. Specifically himeless and drug addicts, also backwoods psychos who think they can shoot you and get away with it. Fucker, you know who you are.Always carry, even out of the woods.

>>2835901Quite the fantasy you've concocted
I specifically got my conceal carry cause I heard people outside of my tent in the middle of the night. Only a couple miles off trail. This is also why I hike much farther out now. Bear spray will fuck up any animal that tries you but most simply avoid you. Ive had a black bear walk past me, (i didnt notice him) and looked at me like "whats up" and kept walking. The scariest situation I've ever had was walking into a growth farm in a national park. That's the only time I truly felt I might be in danger.
As an Australian, its snakes and heat both of these can be avoided with ease. /out/ing in Australia is EZ
>>2835906I'm planning on getting my CHL for basically the same reason. I've been wanting it anyway but have been dragging my feet since normally I can just open carry legally while in the woods, but it's become particularly important lately since I've gotten into motocamping and, unlike a car, there isn't really any practical legal way to carry on a motorcycle without it.
>>2834161I live in black bear and mountain lion country. I've caught both many times on my trail cameras. But I've never come across either while /out/. Tweakers on the other hand, I've crossed paths with on numerous occasions and it usually made me re-think and then re-plan my hike and/or fishing trip.
>>2835907conveniently ignore the funny part regarding the spiders that are the size of your head anon
the last grizzy in my state was killed 1880s. keeping a clean camp and being nominally aware is enough for the black bear and cats. but a chipmunk will fuck your shit up in the night. chew the cork on your poles, caught one dangling from the bear bag trying to get my breakfast one dawngo deep and you won't see homeless or tourists. but you may run into a hippie guy who Just Wants To Warm Up By The Fire. he says it's just for a minute but do not under any circumstances let him break out his gay little ukelele or fag drum
>>2834161Cars while on the way /out/
>>2834169Came to post this. No one is more dangerous to me than me.
Does anyone get killed by bears anymore? This is 2025, bears have been reduced to possum status, they're forest bin rats. Bears are not what they used to be
>biggest threat>large trash eating possumBro if this guy walks up to you he wants cheetoes
>bear attacked me>almost diedNah bro just wanted the cheetoes, can't tell me nothing about trash eating animals. It's like a 3 year old chewing on random shit, it's not dangerous it's just stupid and hungry.

>>2834161In my state?Illegals. There's suddenly jeets everywhere (I suspect coming down from Canada). Certain camping areas are overrun with non-english speaking mestizos who I assume are just living there.
>>2834161I see mountain lions a fair amount in socal. But I carry a g20 and they don’t fuck with you if you don’t run away. They also scare away tourists were I hike.
>>2834329>Homeless are harmless and don't go /out/ in the first placeyouve clearly never been to the chilliwack river valley then.
>>2834179>>2834181Clueless euro hereIsn't the rule "if it's brown lie down, if it's black fight back"? Or should you always just try and make as much noise as possible to scare it?
>>2834329>Homeless are harmless and don't go /out/ in the first placeA dude got his head chopped off and dismembered by a murder hobo in Montana just last year. And let's not forget the hobo "sovereign" who stabbed that Mexican dude to death on the AT a few years back. Those are just the occerances that made national headlines.
>>2837089I dont see anything about the montana murder being a hoboother guy was almost assuredly
>>2837021>Burned down camp site.So your proof that homeless are dangerous is that someone potentially homeless had an accident? What, like non-homeless never accidentally burn down shit? How many retards with homes have you seen burn down shit because they doused their bonfire in gasoline causing it to explode? Set shit on fire by not properly securing their fireplace? Homeless are not more or less dangerous than any other drunk retard. They just smell more.
>>2834165Same reaction as discovering a pile of litter
>>2834633Precontact animals were more solitary. The problem now is most stray dogs on reservations are inbred rottweilers and pitbulls.
>>2837109Have you seriously never interacted with hobos before? They are all mentally unstable drug addicted ferals. They will stab eachother over their collection of torn up shopping bags and other assorted garbage. They will assault you with murderous intent for no reason at all.>t.EMT and deal with them all day every day
>>2837149Have you ever dealt with them? Lmao, how do they survive if they're busy stabbing eachother so much? How do they get away with assaulting people? Oh wait, they don't? weird
>>2837180Free health care at every emergency roomCops are worthless, dumb retarded pieces of shit It's like you've never had to deal with any of it
>>2837197lmao cope because you know I called you outThe cops wish they were violent so they could arrest them you scared little sperg
>>2837180They dont, ive watched tons of hobos die from beatings, stabbings, shootings, and gangrene. You never hear about it because its just some hobo junkie that we ship off to get roasted. They also get free medical care and they know it, thats why the ER is always filled with hobos. >How do they get away with assaulting peopleBecause on the off chance the random hobo gets caught (most dont) the DAs dont give a single fuck and let them right back out on the streets. For example, I attended to a college kid that got sucker punched in the back of the head by some hobo in broad daylight. Dude had a nasty concussion and got knocked out cold. The hobo was never caught. Hobo junkies should all be rounded up and forced into rehab/work camps.
>>2837223Retard tier argument, homeless people are the most likely target for random violence because nobody cares about them. How do you know it was a bum if they never caught him? The only bums who get away with violence are the ones who are violent against other bums, but even they are caught quickly, honestly it's hilarious how scared you faggots are of the homeless people in your towns, they're all ubermen super smart criminals who can't get caught or can't be fought but also they're bums, holy shit lol pick a fucking argumentin fact ocean beach California has an entire thing going where they literally start fights with bums so they can prosecute them with a charge that includes a stay away from the business area lmao honestly you write like some fag that lives in Portland or Philly and you have never actually understand the shit you see in your day to day. You think homeless people are the ones playing the knockout game? Lmao bro get real
>>2837245are you fucking stupid or just trolling? Hobos dont give a fuck about anything except getting a fix, they are dumb as fuck but the system helps them stay on the streets getting high, assulting people, and breaking into people's cars. They are a drain on society and I hope China blesses us with a bad batch of fent.

Cities like LA and San Francisco routinely bus dangerous addicts across the country to small communities and have exported the problem to the entire country. Kill homeless. Behead homeless. Roundhouse kick a homeless into the concrete. Slam dunk a homeless baby into the trashcan. Crucify filthy homeless. Defecate in a homeless food. Launch homeless into the sun. Stir fry homeless in a wok. Toss homeless into active volcanoes. Urinate into a homeless gas tank. Judo throw homeless into a wood chipper. Twist homeless heads off. Report homeless to the IRS. Karate chop homeless in half. Curb stomp pregnant homeless. Trap homeless in quicksand. Crush homeless in the trash compactor. Liquefy homeless in a vat of acid. Eat homeless. Dissect homeless. Exterminate homeless in the gas chamber. Stomp homeless skulls with steel toed boots. Cremate homeless in the oven. Lobotomize homeless. Mandatory abortions for homeless. Grind homeless fetuses in the garbage disposal. Drown homeless in fried chicken grease. Vaporize homeless with a ray gun. Kick old homeless down the stairs. Feed homeless to alligators. >>2837616No, I hate homeless and minorities not my own dick and happy families.I live two houses from a church so they like to try to claim asylum or sanctuary or some other bullshit. Not in my neighborhood. Here’s one brandishing a knife outback of the church.
>>2837031That's IF they're charging you. You shouldnt try to make them charge you to begin with
>>2837577>Cities like LA and San Francisco routinely bus dangerous addicts across the country to small communities and have exported the problem to the entire country. They're not exporting them, they're deporting them back to where they came from. SF's program specifically gives bums tickets back to wherever they came from. I'm with you on everything else but I'm sick of this bullshit idea that California is a spawn point for all of the worst people, when it's basically the opposite, it's where all the worst people from everywhere else in the country (and the world) go to be together and make life hell for the few of us unfortunate enough to actually be from there.
>>2837719>They're not exporting them, they're deporting them back to where they came fromBut they aren’t they’re just shipping them out. I understand most of them aren’t from California originally and it really sucks for you. I don’t want them here either but they aren’t “getting sent back” they lie (shocker I know) and end up infesting other communities. I’d rather they all concentrated in California than in 300 cities across the country. It’s not just California but they are the main culprits. It’s disingenuous to say they’re being sent “back”. I get the mentality. I don’t want them here either and would gladly put them on a bus destination unknown without a second thought. The point is no one wants them around and they’re a blight. I don’t mean to hate on California. My roommate in college married a caligirl and moved out there. I try to visit when I’m able. I’ve been a dozen times or so in the last 15 years. I love the San Fran Santa Cruz area and I’m sorry you are infested with mindless zombies. I say push them into the sea. Hang in there commiebro! We’re all in this together.
