Truly the niggers of the insect world. Annoying, aggressive and borderline retarded.

are they actually that aggressive?
i have a couple pear trees in my yard, and every year its swarming with yellowjackets, bald hornets, bumblebees, and honey bees and ive never been stung, not even when im using a shovel to pick up rotten pears and toss them in a pile

sometimes if im sitting on my back porch a few will fly around me but never sting

Extra protein.

No, they're not aggressive unless you're fucking with their nest or acting like a spaz and hitting them. There are tons in my garden and they never bother me, plus they hunt for pests. A lot of wasps can't even sting you if they wanted to, only some species have stingers.

This becomes wrong as soon as you start killing them. I swear they talk between hives. I got stung as a kid, now I kill yellowjackets on-sight. And now they go out of their way to sting me.

Supposedly some of them can recognize faces, and they use pheromones to mark targets, so it is possible you're wanted by wasps.

Yellowjackets release the "attack here" pheremone when they sting and when they're killed. The scent of this pheremone sends the others into berserker mode. And they have an 18-foot vision distance. It's wise to keep your distance.

Camping in Michigan last summer, I noticed that the wasp-infested sandhill regions were curiously devoid of mosquitoes, flies and other pests. Wasps are annoying, but they have a valuable role in the ecosystem.
