I want to quit society and live out in nature.Where can I do this, and how should I prepare?
>>2838506you cantif you are asking here it means you dont have the required skills or knowledge to survive away from the safety of society
>>2838507>>2838512Ya sure being pessimistic can help keep things in perspective, but if you're not going to encourage the guy at least a little bit or give him some actual advice then why the fuck even bother posting?>>2838506I'm nowhere near where I want to be, but here's a list of things I've done over the past few years that might give you some ideas to start. Keeping in mind, I originally wanted to be a woodland hermit, now I want to start a homestead.>Landscaping experience to learn to manage tools and different plants/trees etc>Working for farms or farm internships for whatever you want to learn, many people on sites like WWoof have survivalist experience, is you can parse through their shitty liberal politics.>Invest in outdoor survival training, programs like BOSS and some in California will teach you literally anything, but you have to pay a good price.>Invest in outdoor survival books: John Plant's Primitive Technology, SAS survival handbook, and general knowledge on weather and foraging and hunting, etc. Books on homesteading,>Invest in doing some long term hikes like the PCT or the AT or the CDT, just to get a feel for what you want to do, that way you will be stocked up on food and close to civilization if you fuck anything up.>Watch a ton of videos of different people online. If you want to be completed disconnected check out like Tom McElroy and related content for good advice, or if you want to still be connected slightly maybe check out ForestAnon or that guy that herds goats in washington, both hobo lifestyle. My advice is to cut our and outright remove anything you don't want to be distracted by, sell your irrelevant books, sell your gaming console, get a dumbphone, and eliminate as much distractions so that you can focus on gathering the skills for what you really want to do.It's possible, but it's hard, and it will take a lot of time. But if you are really committed I reckon you can expedite the process by just committing every day
>>2838529Thank you, graciously, brother.
>>2838507Stop posting this over and over again>>2838506Do what you wanna do for 2 weeks. Then you'll probably think it's enough and go back to normal.
>>2838555stop posting "how do I runnaway to da woods cause a fucked up muh life/muy mom's gonna throw me out!" threads and it won't get posted anymore.
>>2838557If somebody is looking to receive actual advice on how to live a healthier better life, it's our responsibility as men to encourage them to be healthy and responsible as well.If you're frustrated by the sheer number of threads like this, don't hate the player, hate the game. The reason so many men are lost and trying to find a sense of purpose, particularly through nature, is because 1. it's healthy to pursue nature, and 2. there is very little in the modern world that provides men with a healthy sense of purpose. It's up to us, and especially (you), to set a better example.
>>2838506If you need to remain in the US then Alaska would be best option I think ? Watch documentary called Alone in the Wilderness with dick preonneke and that should give you a pretty good idea of how to do it well. I don’t know what the best place to do this internationally would be maybe Russia or China ?
>>2838664australia would be the best place, low pop density, low schizo rates, low environmental hazards, high amounts of animals to hunt (kangaroos easily have 120lb of meat on them and rabbits are reasonably abundant)
>>2838506>I want to quit society and live out in nature. Why?
>>2838506find somewhere with steady seasonal workyou can't sustain yourself alone in the woods, so fill the gaps with money you earn seasonallythere is a reason that people are social creatures who have always lived in groupsyou can never, ever quit society>>2838664he is a cool guy but even he had a friend fly stuff in for himi don't think alaska is a great place for thisthe only bonuses are cheap land and the possibility of extreme isolation, there aren't too many upsides>t. usually takes winters off to live in a remote shack innawoods
>>2838664>watch a documentary if a guy knows what he's doing even though you grew up gooning to anime for 20 years and lack the basic fitness and survival instinct to survive in the wildernessamazing advice
>>2838760>stay homeThat’s the best advice to give to someone like anon.
>>2838760>>2838774He can still aquire the skills and train for it in some capacity. Honestly, does the Rabbi pay you to act this shitty?
>>2838784Think it’s maybe a bit of a red flag, or possibly a complete waste of time to want to start doing something that’s incredibly dependent on initiative and self reliance— and your first fucking step is a two sentence post on a Mongolian rabbit herding message forum??
>>2838800Where the hell would you start man? This board has some people with a lot of knowledge on a lot of subjects, a lot of whom have been in OP's position before. Is it really such a stretch to decide to come here for advice on where to begin?Sure the threads might be repetitive, but threads don't stay up forever and ever, so they have to make a new one.Unless you guys want to start like a /GreenHorn/ general, where everybody starting off can post in a single thread to get advice. I think that would at least be productive and meet everybodies needs.
>>2838808Oh I don’t know.. something about his experience level, location, desired biome, budget… etc?Spoon feeding and coddling has never in the course of human history helped anyone.
>>2838808>This board has some people with a lot of knowledge on a lot of subjectslolLMAO
>>2838529>>2838616Respect for trying to help OP and standing up against the demoralizers>>2838760>>2838800>>2838886You might as well one of those people on the other side, you’re effectively doing their work for them. And you’re acting like you’re not on 4chan too, not gonna let that gay self hatred shit slip by. Nobody wants or needs to hear your whining
>>2838506Get a shitty backpack, some clothes, and a green/earth bivy. Then stealth camp and go to churches for food. Works for the homeless. You can get from place to place by walking or hitching rides on trains. Or much more difficultly, you can go into the national forests and stealth camp here and there. Food is much harder to find if not impossible. Water is probably easier than being homeless since you don't have to worry about viral contamination as much. And there are animals that will try to eat you so bring a pistol. Would be easy out west but would also have to contend with much more dangerous fauna. Where are you located? I’ll train you little one.
>>2838916Or save 100k and life off interest. 3k p.a. are possible, which is enough to not beg for food.
>>2838918Then run out of money in your 60s, and realize that no one will hire you since there's a 40 year gap in your resume
>>2838911K, keep wasting your time spoonfeeding retards who can’t even be assed to post a real question. Then when this saaaaame cunty retarded thread is made next week, white knight that one too, and then again the week after that.Because again, if you are too fucking cunty retarded to realize that if one wants to live a self sufficient lifestyle, if they can’t even do the absolute bare bones amount of research for themselves with all the reference material and reading in the world at their finger tips it’s a COMPLETE waste of time.Tl;dr they’ve already failed the first test
>>2838919Taking out 3% a year from your index fund account is very conservatively calculated, your networth will outpace inflation and grow beyond that. In thirty years youre able to withdraw easily 5k p. a. from that, at least as long as shit doesnt hit the fan. Better than slaving away thirty years.
>>2838921But shit will hit the fan eventually, everyone get old and if your living in the woods your pretty likely to break your ancle or some thing. Plus you'll never be able to support a wife, kids or hobby on that little money
>>2838924If shit hits the fan working your ass off wont help you either, you will not have had the sweet joy of being free.
>>2838927True, but it would still be good to have a back up plan like working part time or doing it with other people
>>2838929Yeah.
>>2838916>Where are you located? I’ll train you little one.OP here. I'm in Georgia. I currently pay $800/month rent to live in a house with a few other people in a wooded area, near a park you can walk down, but as far as livable fruits to extract, I don't think there's much over here.
>>2838812You can still be informative without coddling somebody, just saying>No don't do anything fuck you you're a retardIsn't worth typing. Clearly you know some good advice to give, so I don't understand why you're so reluctant to do so. Why even come to this board? Are you Jewish by chance?>>2838916This, except be careful Trainhopping, massive legal trouble if you're not careful, and Heroin junkies are always stalking to yards looking for a ride, so be cautious.>>2838919He can build a skill set and gain life experience, much more useful then working a shit labor or wagie job that trains you to be a useless little robot.>>2838920This thread is designed to gather research and support, as is this board. It's a springboard. Literally just go back to Israel already jesus christ man.
>>2838968Thank you, brotherman. How do you carefully trainhop? Is it easy to find train stations on Google maps and hop aboard?Does the carefulness lie in staying hidden until you arrive at your destination or does it involve selecting a good train in the first place? What legal trouble would they realistically slap you with if you can prove you didn't take anything?
>>2838983>How do you carefully trainhop?Basic safety: Keep three points of contact at all times (Hands, feet, bottom, etc), keep out of sight, don't ever ride a suicide car, always pick a car that is safe and ideally has some degree of protection (Grainers, shipping container, or specialty cars with open sides), also never ride in a boxcar, if that shit locks you will die before anyone finds you.>Is it easy to find train stations on Google maps and hop aboard?Typically you can use google maps on your phone to locate where the train tracks are the most congested, this is typically where the yard is, and where the most trains will stop.>Does the carefulness lie in staying hidden until you arrive at your destination or does it involve selecting a good train in the first place?Typically once you're moving you can move around a little and enjoy the scenerie, but you want to be hidden basically whenever somebody might have eyes on you, as they can call the company and notify them to catch you the second the train stops. You want to try to get the right train for where you're going, but it isn't always feasible. Make an educated guess based on what the train looks like, what kind of cargo it has, etc.>What legal trouble would they realistically slap you with if you can prove you didn't take anything?I got slapped with a B misdemeanor in North Dakota once, the yard bulls are fucking ass holes and will try to give you felonies but the cops really don't want to have to deal with that shit so they will typically give you something minor and let you fuck off, unless you were caught on it while it was moving, whole different story.>General AdviceBring earplugs to protect your ears, a bandana and plenty of food and water (Wet the bandana when going through tunnels to use as a makeshift mask to protect from the smoke that builds up). Avoid the Yard personel, and I would go so far as to say being fit and travelling somewhat light in case you need to run.
>>2838989>ContI don't know if there still are but there was some PDF's you could download back in the day that contained general yard info and where to find a ride, it helped me out in a pinch. Also ask locals, sometimes the local hobos have some train knowledge if they aren't completely insane.I got pinned on the way up to oregon once with no food and only a little water because the train broke down in the mountains, great day and great view, but also really risky, that's why I recommend supplying yourself just in case.My only other advice is to just be cautious around the gutter punks. Some of them can be really cool people while others are just generally shitty, and all around they can be very pessimistic and draining people to be around.Crossing borders you also have to worry about new technology finding you, such as that X-ray machine between Canada and the U.S.A lot of info, maybe I'm overcomplicating it, the main thing is to be wise, don't hop trains while under the influence of anything (Don't do drugs in the first place). The trains have the potential to take you to some very beautiful places most people don't see, but if you're not careful it will be more danger then it is worth.
>>2838886agreed. I’ve never seen anything on this shit hole board that I would consider an expert opinion. Nothing here has ever made me stop and say “oh wow, that sounds like a great idea, I’ve never thought of that.” I’ve seen a lot of the opposite though, as well as a lot of broad, diminutive opinions of entire activities. If someone is looking for actual, real advice, they’re better off on Reddit.
>>2838989>>2838990Absolutely fascinating.
>>2838989>>2838990Thank you very much. I hope I can find those pdf's in the archives. Would they be in /out/ archives or /b/ archives?
