Collected about 5 pounds of pawpaw today. What's the best way to process them?
How many pawpaws could papa paw if papa could paw pawpaws?
>>2838641Man, I've been wanting to eat a paw paw for years now. I live in a small pocket of viability but haven't found any or found anyone who has either.
>>2838641Mix with beeswax and some coconut oil to make lip balm
I'm not asking what to use it for. I'm asking the best way of removing the seeds and skin.
>>2838663are you retarded? Just scoop them out
>>2838665Tends to be very messy and wasteful in my experience.
>>2838667It is going to be. It's one of the reasons it's not a commercial crop. Also it does bad real fast. So freeze anything you're not eating immediately
>>2838641stick them up your ass
>>2838641>Stole about 5 pounds of pawpaw todayFTFY
In my experience, you want to start with gently washing and drying them. Store them in the fridge overnight, preferably a whole day. This'll firm up the skin, which tears easily. Cut them in half, scoop out the insides with a spoon. I've found two main methods of removing the seeds from the pulp. One is to dump all the pulp and seeds into a pot with an equal part water. Cook until soupy and strain. The other is to take a metal colander and metal bowl, chill them in the freezer. Throw the stuff into the colander and stir it around. Should remove most of the pulp in the bowl. The cold metal helps reduce smearing.
>>2838747I grow then on my property. I have 6 trees. Only one made fruit though, and many fell unripe. I'm guessing due to the sudden cold weather.
>>2838667if you wanna get real fancy with it get some tweezers and pluck the seeds out if you cant just accomplish the same thing with a knife.
Man pawpaws are delicious. Wanted to hit the festival up in Maryland but apparently it was ticketed and they sold out. Never heard of a fruit festival having to sell tickets but good for them I suppose
>>2839759you mean the one in anacostia?
