for me it's chukchi nomads>siberia>northern peak>reindeer/fishing nomads>dealt with american whalers>survived several wars against russian empire>kept the head of a general as trophy
I dont know any cool trad natives OP but any former Mongolians have GOT to be gigachads, nice thread, hope someone contributes
The Sami are the indigenous people of Norway, Sweden, Finland and parts of Russia.
The Ainu of Northern Japan and Southern Russia also have very striking features.
The Basques have existed culturally in Europe for tens of thousands of years.
>>2841166you mean former tibetans
>>2841114The comanche adopted horses like many tribes, but unlike many they developed a full pastoralist economy around horses that allowed them to project power and collect tribute from a large area, much like the horse lords of the asian steppes. For over 50 years they held all the surrounding tribes in subjugation or alliance or just absorbed them, collected regular tribute from mexican states of new mexico and texas and chihuaha, and regularly raided deep into mexico. I think it would be cool to do a trip following one of their war trails.
>>2841114I hate Russia and Russians, OP, but the various reindeer herding cultures of Asia are based as fuck and aren't really Russians. I've written papers on them, read books on them, watched every documentary I can on them. There are similarities among reindeer herders from Scandinavia to Kamchatka, but each culture is unique. Here's a list of traditional reindeer herders, of which some to almost all members are still practicing:AlyutorsChukchiChuvany (Chuvan)DolgansDukhaEnetsEvenki/Ewenki/Evenks/TungusEvensKhantyKomiKoryakMansi/VogelNegidalsNenets/YurakNganasaOroqen/Orochen/Orochon/ElunchunSámiSelkupBasedotTofalarTozha TuvansUil'ta/Uilta/Oroks/Ul'ta/NaniYukagirAnd here are some documentaries on YouTube that I watch in the dark of winter in my cabin:https://youtu.be/8gI6q4R8ih4https://youtu.be/KDIC4pvgXqUhttps://youtu.be/-kIbHN7PmWQhttps://youtu.be/Xi80xrE3MkIhttps://youtu.be/FaMStAZCfGAhttps://youtu.be/UGQ5W4IJM5Ihttps://youtu.be/uSMhKYqeHwghttps://youtu.be/WWj2JTyjND8https://youtu.be/hmqb3Y5pMssAnd here's one of the greatest /k/ films of all time: https://youtu.be/sFaL03SKEzE

>>2841114>kept the head of a general as trophyCan we see it?
What’d I miss?
the Uros people in Peru live on giant floating islands made of dried reeds on lake Titicaca
>>2841536>peruvian steam punkbased
>>2841114In Taiwan we have a lot of different tribes. This is the Yami tribe, they are flying fishes fishermans and have the most ridiculous gear you'll ever see
>>2841739I guess it's to protect from the sun
>>2841169I'm french and from the Basque region and it's not true anymore since reforms in Spain and France that forced the different french territories to assimilate (us and many other low social status languages like the occitan). Its funny because after erasing our culture they are now promoting multiculturalism and are against assimilation. Basque people dont exist they are just edgy frogs basically
>>2841114Why did the mods delete the post about Germanic peoples of Europe? Really makes you think.
>>2841741As an occitan bro it's funny to see schools and local government launch programs to revive and protect the occitan language. All speaking it with a thick French accent and intonation. Homogenising it into their one accepted version of occitan and stamping out regional variations.
>>2841169yeah but they came from somewhere else before.
>>2841768>Germanic peoplesthey also came from somewhere else before. not indigenous
>>2841783You could make that argument for every group listed in this thread.
>>2841768>>2841791Indigenous is an eurocentric term for "primitive people who lived there when euros discovered it" and I proudly use it as such. Europeans cannot be indigenous by definition.
>>2841793>let me just redefine this word to fit my retarded political views. Check mate conservatives!
>>2841794I don't care for your politically correct 2025 dictionary libfag.
>>2841795What kind of person would use say both eurocentric and libfag It just doesnt make sense If you're a big enough faggot to use words like eurocentric then its basically guaranteed that youre a liberal
>>2841791that is the argument that people use for every group listed in this thread yet you only seem to get offended when europeans are the ones being discussed.
>>2841794by this definition white people should gtfo out of europe then.
>>2841823>>2841824take your meds bro
>>2841782No they didn’t retard. The basque language is independent of and predates indo European languages. Some theorize it might be Neanderthal in origin. Fun fact- the Irish are the nearest genetic relatives to the basques.
>>2841824No you.
>>2841836>Neanderthalthey came from somewhere else too. >>2841828you need to go to /his/ and do some research
>>2841843>Neanderthal>they came from somewhere else too. No they evolved in Europe the Middle East and Asia. Are you really that stupid? Or just a troll?
>>2841843>do research>on 4channo wonder you're so stupid
>>2841793He's right. This is historically how the word was and is used. Maybe it's rooted in roman conquest or the greeks distinction between themselves, the hellenistic races, and everyone else. It's imperialism.
the saami are pretty cool. some speculate they long long long ago brought bronze, tin etc metallurgy to northern europe.also their knives are neat.
>>2841849>No they evolved in Europe the Middle East and Asia. That's a vast area for a single species to evolve in.
>>2842876God I hate you.
>>2841169>existed culturally in Europe for tens of thousands of years.Citation required.
>>2842924I’m not your fucking google, look it up yourself. Basque is unique from any language on earth and many words like “axe” and “knife” are derivatives of the word “stone” implying that’s the material those objects were made out of at the time of the word’s formation.
>>2841536Why do their boats look like bananas?
>>2842900That map shows 2 locus for Neanderthal migrations.
>>2843457every early boat design looks like a banana. its a highly efficient method of construction
>>2842941The stone age is just a few thousand years past. No reason to assume the basques have been there for tens of thousands.
>>2843797Not every oneThe coracle, for example, is a half sphere
>>2843794No, it shows two locations for probable genetic swap between species. Are you so stupid you can’t read a map too?
>>2843799God I hate you.
>>2843852>popular and long-held view
>>2841167>The Sami are the indigenous people of NorwayWrong, norwegians were there first. Same in Sweden. Scandinavians are native and indigenous to scandinavia, not samis.
>>2841793>Europeans cannot be indigenous by definitionScandinavians were the first people in scandinavia, how are they not indigenous? Retarded american
>>2844386Northern Norway was colonized when Samis were already present. They are by definition indigenous. Norwegians are native, but not indigenous. Not the same thing.
>>2841741When did that happen? Idaho has had basque since the late 1800's, and the sheep herders up in the mountains look fuckin' DIFFERENT than all the cultural ones in and around cities.
>>2843852>Studies from the beginning and the end of the 20th centurySo basically alchemy. The use of "cro-magnon" was already a dead giveaway.Modern molecular anthropology is way more nuanced than that. We know that neolithic Europe started way later than 10K years ago, and the DNA of Basques resembles that of Anatolian hunter gatherers more than that of Iberian hunter gatherers. Odds are that the language followed the neolithic expansion.
>>2841167im norwegian and as indigenous as them. i respect the sami culture and lifestyle i just cant stand that they get Indigenous status and i dont, it makes no sense.
>>2841299Absolutely love that movie. Watched it a few years ago innaswamp after it was reccomended on here.
>>2844386This>>2844608GaySami haplogroup came to norther Scandinavia in the bronze age while 30% of the male Norwegian population have direct decent from Mesolithic hunter gatherers. The Sami Parliament have also banned all forms of DNA research. Almost like they are afraid of the truth.Their way of life is still cool and deserves respect, but they are actually less indigenous than the ethnic Norwegians. Also fuck the UN and their gay definition of """indigenous""".
>>2845624Cope.
>>2845497Well you see anon, they're brown. And you aren't. That means they get special privileges and you dont. That means youre evil and they're good. All clear?
>>2841793>eurocentric termare you retarded, kike?you're speaking an European language
>>2841167they are NOT the natives
>>2841168Anyone not insecure about reading manga, check out Golden Kamuy or the anime adaptation. It's about a veteran of the Russo-Japanese war panning for gold in Hokkaido, ends up in a hunt for a cache of alluvial gold hidden by the Ainu. One of the most genuine /k/ and /out/ anime, you'd be surprised. Made by one of those manga authors who just uncompromisingly commit to research and authenticity. Every chapter ends with little informational pages about the stuff featured in the chapter, like rare animals, the history of the region, historical people, Ainu stuff, myths. TLDR if you've never read a manga and you're into /k/ and /out/ shit, this is the absolute best one to hop the fence for, Golden Kamuy, check any manga/anime site, or torrent on nyaa.si. Most satisfying read for me yet.
>>2845880Forgot to mention the background work is stunning, based on real photographs, obviously all set in the early 1900s
>>2841167Every goddamn time I see Sami people in pictures circulating outside of the country, it's blonde and blue eyed people. Not saying they're not part Sami, but that is not what a Sami person looks like barring total outliers and people who are barely Sami. Most Sami people look like they're from the far east, Mongolia, or the north pole or something.
>>2841299>>2845880Golden Kamuy was directly and heavily inspired by Dersu Uzala. Amazing movie
>>2841793Euros being eurocentric? I sure hope so
>>2845880>Golden Kamuyhell yeah. once youre done with that check out songs of gods songs of humans. ainu mythology shares an uncanny resemblance to haida/salish/etc mythology on the northwest coast of north america
