>>2841159besides "all of it"? the forested mesas with lakes are very cool, the white river is epic, the canyons and desert are very cool just like in utah, the san juans are unreal, youve got a lot of big ass mountains throughout the whole west slope you basically cant go wrong anywhere on the west slope rico colorado is 10/10

>>2841142Relative lack of people and the Sawtooth forest has some of the best lakes I've ever seen. Also, my mom is the one that got me into backpacking, and now that she's older I take her and my wife up there once a year as a way of thanks. So since she's older, it physically is still work like 3-4K climbs, but you don't get into any rough elevations like Colorado.
I was in Montrose and the Black Canyon earlier this summer, lucky I went when I did because it all burned down a month laterI spent a day each in Silverton, Telluride and Crested Butte. The scale of the landscapes in this area are unlike anything I've seen before. However, I wish I had spent more time on the greener, wetter, cooler side of the mountains
>>2841118Utah desert is boring imo. Yeah there's lots of public land, but most of it is very boring and samey. Also it's basically not worth hiking for a decent portion of the year due to temperature. NE Utah is much more interesting and cool.
