I need a very simple headlamp with a single function that can be very easily turned on and offNo flash mode, no dimmer, no red light, no other bullshit.I need a single light function and a very simple on/off switch with no stupid modes in between. preferably a slider switch.Show me what you got
>>2841602
>>2841605that clearly says 2 modes.anyway, i found one, and bought it. Petza Pixel 2. It has a very simple rotating on/off switch and no bullshit modes.
>>2841606ok
>>2841602What is wrong with you? Why wouldn't you want RBG strobing effects and bluetooth functionality? Are you poor or living in the 19th century?
>>2841602>>2841606Good thread.
>>2841606delete this thread faggot
>>2841606woah "simple" "rotating" two words that don't go together, god forbid a headlamp have TWO buttons
>>2841606The Peztl has 2 modes btw.
GRUG NEED ONE BUTTONTWO BUTTON TOO COMPLICATEDLONGNOSE TRIBE TRY TO TRICK GRUG WITH RED AND FLASHING LIGHTS BUT MAKE GRUG DIZZYGRUG ONLY NEED ONE LIGHTGRUG ONLY NEED ONE BUTTON
op here, i need a headlamp that will be turned off and on many times per day, i do not want to cycle through modes or do any long presses.
>>2841606I think people correlate function with price, which is why nobody would be able to recommend to you the dumbest fucking thing on earth, which is a $70 headlamp with 1 single mode. for that price you should just be able to configure functions using dip switches in the fucking battery compartment or something. I never come to this board, so I have no idea, but has nobody made a headlamp with functions that are enabled with dip switches? because that's free fucking money.
>>2841602>No flash mode, no dimmer, no red light, no other bullshit.Such a thing does not exist in 2025
>>2841605>3 AAA batteriesEverything wrong with society can be traced to this.>>2841602Buy something that uses 2 AA.
>>2841602My favorite headlamp is the Streamlight Bandit. Rechargeable, single button, decent battery life (used it for a week in the BWCA without needing to recharge, though I went to bed an hour or two after sunset and just used it for camp setup and night pissing), doesn’t feel like a surplus N-47 right angle light in an old PVS-7 Skullcrusher mount.>no red modeIdk, I use red more than white. Lets you see, doesn’t ruin your night vision and therefore peripheral vision or ability to stargaze, doesn’t blind your friends when you look at them, etc etc.
>>2842204Forgot to mention about the Bandit. It doesn’t do that shitty thing where you have to keep clicking till you get the mode you want. It turns on and off with the button and you switch from white to red or red to white by holding the button for 30 seconds, and it remembers what setting you were using so you only have to long-press when you want to change it.
>>2841756I have a Black Diamond Spot 400, and it does what you need. One button to cycle modes (close-up spread beam, far focused beam, red light) and one button to turn on or off, or double press quickly to toggle flashing mode. Has it a memory function, so it starts in the same mode as when you turned it off, so if you only use one of the modes, you only need to worry about the one button.
>>2841749thanks, it does. i noticed this after using it for a week. the rotatry knob is nice and the low light mode is neat too. i can flick it off and on very quickly.the only thing i dont like is that its not ambidextrous.>>2842381thats great, but not what i want.

Milwaukee Electric - REDLITHIUM. USB Hard HAT HEADLAMPBrand: Milwaukee4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars (306)500+ bought in past month$69.97Used to sell with extra batt which I'd keep in prescription bottle on back to help balance weight.AMAZING light quality, though. Its what The Pros use when they gotta work with small wires and shit. Not just bright, but light QUALITY, like a new set of eyes. Also, the $3 lights with 3 AAA batts.
>>2843311>>2843425Thread ended 2 weeks ago in case you didn't notice.
>>2843473I like the Nightbuddy 230 degree. USB charger, has a bright strip that illuminates EVERYTHING, and a borg laser-style directional beam that just hits one area. Each has a bright / dim setting. No stupid blinking mode. I use it for work and camping interchangeably. Only downside worth mentioning is that the “strip” setting can be too bright for others to look at up close, so be careful when using it around your companions.
>>2841602i have one it's the cheapest one from decathlon does the red light shit actually work for preserving night vision
>>2843539>red light shit actually work for preserving night visionYes. My astronomer brother swears by it. Part of his job depends on night vision. swear b
>most headlamps:>first 3 settings are superbright, midbright, lowbright. very reasonable, very useful>last two settings are various forms of strobe/flash is there anyone who legitimately uses the flash settings? is there a reason for their inclusion that's actually worthwhile for the average consumer? seems fucking worthless. is it for when you're fucked and want to preserve battery life in exchange for inconsistent light? why do it exist anons
>>2843568Only Chinese shit have flashing mode, those are children toys. Proper flashlight doesn't blink.
>>2843568one is sos which is the sos call in morse and the other is strobe mode useful to cyclists i guess
>>2843568>why do it exist anonsever since the hand held flashlight was invented, it was always a bloated piece of crap loaded with useless features.very early models had color filters, lens cover and momentary button blink mode. Then when they switched to d-cells they got large enough to double as baton.
>>2843568some black diamond headlamps have a continuously adjustable brightness range and no blink mode, I think those are the bestsome strobe/flash settings will spell SOS in Morse, which I guess someone who has never gone out would think is cool, but is next to useless.
what you need is the kind that remembers it's last setting so you only switch in and out of this mode that you use regularly and don't have to cycle through modes every time
>>2843869wasn't there a guy who couldn't communicate to a helicopter that he needed help from a distance
>>2843311good product, Coleman has always been my go-to.Anyways currently tracking your IP based on the extended link that Amazon uses to know when you share a product
>>2841602streamlight micro usb has a pocket clip that also goes the other way and can clip on to the front of a baseball cap
>>2841602Yeah, mine has all those annoying modes, red, flashing, useless wankery. It should work like this: On, ON, off. Simple as.
>>2842134There’s no need, really. The better headlamps have some sort of non-volatile memory that remembers the last mode you were in and reverts to it. The strobe feature, map light, flood, and spot are all there if you need them, with a simple way to toggle between the different modes that’s separate from the in-off switch.
>>2845363I have headlamps like that, I just mean if you're producing a $70 headlamp and for whatever retarded Steve Jobs-tier reason ("aesthetics", "minimalism") you simply refuse to have a second button and only want on/off, there are other ways. It's not like I find them to be convenient or anything, but I'll always prefer a hardware switch/controller over NVRAM even if 90% of the time there's little in terms of a meaningful distinction.
Nitecore. The older model on the left is mine that I bought over 10 years ago and is still going strong. The one on the right is the one my son has been using for about a year now.
>>2842151fpbp
>>2842142It really seems impossible. I have NEVER seen one. Everything has multiple light modes.
