The wet and cold season is upon us, friends.Do you enjoy hiking in that weather? I certainly do. Although many alpine trails become more dangerous and daylight is scarce, I think that this time of the year makes mother nature even more captivating.Umbrella, fleece and warm boots ready?
>>2841949>UmbrellaWhat kind of faggotry is this?
>>2841949I don't enjoy being wet, its uncomfortable and as the weather gets colder it's quite dangerous. I do prefer the cold weather to summer though, and I can't wait for snow. Someone's gotta fire up the long johns thread soon.
I still need to buy some rain mitts to keep my gloves dry this season. Here in the south most of the winter is 30-40F and raining rather than snow, not too bad overall but having cold wet hands all day pisses me off like nothing else.
>>2841950Keeps you dry without making you hot, sweaty and miserable. Umbrellas are based.
>>2841949>Can't go /out/ without falling into a crevasse or suffocating in an avalancheThis sucks.
>>2842028Read Freedom of the Hills.
>>2842028I think you should try it.
>>2841949Hiking is ok (enhances certain views IMO), but camping becomes quite miserable. No bugs though which is nice. Going camping anyway.
>>2842061Get a big ol parka and a warmer sleep system, it's not so bad with the right attitude.
>>2842064>a warmer sleep system>2000 dollary-doos later
>>2842069A semi-decent tent (not too heavy and somewhat water-repellent) and a good sleeping bag don't cost that much. Add a little stove (beware of carbonmonoxide) and you're good to go. Most fishing tackle shops have a "good enough" range: good enough for a couple of days without too much rain or wind.
The best part is that I can start wearing my Kurama cosplay onesie without being too uncomfortable.
>>2842071Oh, I thought you meant one of those expensive down-quill systems.
>>2842362Exactly today's conditions, only worse lol.
>>2841949I like colder weather but not getting soaked. Fortunately we don't get a lot of rain in my area, unfortunately we're only a month or two from every trail being under 10' of snow and not emerging again until May, along with the mountain roads that access them getting shut down for the winter. I think I'm gonna try to get into XC skiing this winter, downhill has gotten absurdly expensive while there are a whole bunch of XC parks that are basically free (just need the national forest pass I already have) and hell I can pretty much do it in my own back yard right after a storm, pic related.
>>2842372Look beautiful, where is it?
>>2842373inland PNW.
>>2842415Gotchu. Really nice place, Anon.
