>>2843204>nose ring>zoomer>live streaming outdoor activitiesgood riddance
>>2843204>>2843232Alright I'll be the one to ask. How the hell do you live stream from El Cap? There's no cell service there.
>>2843204>rising Alaska mountaineer>risingNot according to the video I saw>>2843237Starlink maybe?
>>2843232I read that it was some random guy pointing a camera at el cap, the zoomer wasn't livestreaming himself.
>>2843204Me, I fell to my death yesterday.
>>2843389Did you survive?
>>2843390I got better
reddit said it was like a 13 second fall
>>2843400And how would reddit know this?
>>2843402where he fell from was known cause it was caught on stream. height of el cap is known. little bit of math and guess work I guess
>>2843237have you been to yosemite in current year, anonthey have all the modern accommodations for the hordes of foreign tourists, cell service includedthey have 5G towers by a bunch of the trailheadsthey even have a golf course nowutterly disgusting
>>2843514Aw man. That's a bummer.
>>2843514Awful, it's the same in the Alps. You pretty much can only do difficult tours by this point, if you want to avoid masses of fat tourists pushing their way up the mountains. Mountains need to become deadly again.
>>2843403He was doing a commercial for NordVPN when he fell and it was the standard 12 seconds
>>2843268This. the zoomy had actually made it to the top and was descending to retrieve some gear bags that had gotten stuck. He ran out of rope...seems like an avoidable mistake.
>>2843533It was a suicide. You don't accidentally forget to tie a knot when you're going to rappel. It's literally the first thing you learn.
>>2843535That's a really common way for experienced climbers to die. Comfort leads to complacency
>>2843402Probably because the Reddit outdoor subs are much more popular than this shithole, and as such have actual experts who visit them. People who are familiar with that mountain know exactly where the climber was when he fell. >b-but Reddit is le bad!Go back to /pol/.
Noo he was so good looking why did he do it
>>2843630Why are you gay
>>2843623>actual experts>redditorspick one
>>2843266lol
>>2843623>(((experts)))
I live in Alaska and when I see people climbing around I take pics of them, I usually hide and make Bigfoot noises. One time I was yelling so loud I woke up the next day with a sore throat. But at least I got outside.
>>2843752>trying to climb in Alaska >been looking forward to this trip all month >start climbing in a serene, beautiful area >some autistic goober has escaped his handler and is screeching in the background >at one point he screams so loud my mates and I think he's having an aneurysm >finish the climb >he's still having an autism fit down there>leave, tell my other mates about the weirdo
>>2843623Reddit being bad is a 4chan things not a specific board thing you gaint faggot.
>>2843636>>2843697Yes, people who actually know what they’re talking about visit Reddit. So do people who don’t know their ass from their elbow. It’s a consolidated platform that everyone knows about.
>>2843232There is so much dumb misinformation about his death that is making normies gleeful for some reason. He was as much of an influencer as any early 20 something that is, he was not really an influencer. He was a talented climber who achieved some pretty impressive solo climbs. Although he died in a dumb way (fell off rope while rappelling because he skipped the very basic safety step of tying knots at the end) he deserves some respect for the badass shit he did. also, he was not the one live streaming. Some random guy at the base of the canyon was streaming climbers on twitch when Balin fell. I truly don’t understand why climber’s deaths make normies so gleeful. It’s fucking weird. Accepting the risk associated with climbing doesn’t mean a climber deserves to be the butt of jokes and ridicule when they die. Besides, the people making those jokes are without fail pathetic chuds who can’t do so much as a single pull up let alone climb anything above 5.6/V1. >>2843535Complacency kills. He knew better, he chose to take a shortcut anyways. He’s not the first pro/experienced climber to fall off their rope while rappelling. Probably won’t be the last either. >>2843764
>>2843389he was caught by bigfoot
>>2843783>Complacency kills/threadYou can be as experienced of an outdoorsman as you want the instant you do a fatal slip you lose all credibility in my books
>>2843764>I live in AlaskaThat's how we roll. A guy flew a helicopter to a dormant volcano with old tires and set them on fire. APRIL FOOLS!!!
Anyone got footage of the fall?
>>2843835https://boardsdot4chandotorgslashfit/thread/76692107/is-climbing-fit
>>2843774ThisPlus the “Reddit bad” people can never explain why they hate it outside of a political context.
>>2843783Honestly its because of the alex honnel fag and his interviews were he endlessly goes on about how cool he is for climbing without a rope. So when someone dies climbing seem lying without a rope people celebrate the inevitable
>>2843850reddit is bad because it has accounts so every opinion you have ever posted on the site effects how people receive and interpret the value of future opinions posted to the site.
>>28438501. Reddit is low effort. 2. Directly related to the first point, and to expand on what >>2843855 said, reddit's voting system deliberately prevents varied opinions and instead encouraged bias. The reddit admins have actually tried to improve upon this by hiding the count of upvotes and downvotes, but the voting system itself is the issue. This is especially a problem with the spread of misinformation. Reddit comments tend to culture misinformation, because you can simply downvote, and bury, a factual comment. None of that is political, it's just a fact of reddit.
>>2843783It's because climbing like that is retarded. After the first guy climbed it, all he had to do was carve "there isn't shit up there" and everybody could move on with life. I feel bad for him because he died to follow another man's path. Live your own life. Go climb something new.
>>2843856Reddit is unusable for actual discussion because it's literally a groupthink/bandwagon/dogpile incubator.I literally make a new account for every single individual post. Every single post instantly becomes buried/invisibled/removed/etc.It foments the worst tendencies of human group communication.
>>2843204There are many ways I can possibly get fucked up climbing but failing to tie a knot in the end of an abseil rope is not one of them.
>>2843237>El CapMore like El Bus
>livestreamingDo phonefags really? Can zoomers not put it down for a fucking second?
>>2843204I heard that he fell because his hand slipped from him running out of organic climbing chalk. And that he didn't want to use the non-organic, non-gmo, non-vegan, non-ethically sourced, and non- female company owned climbing chalk that a local climber offered to him.
