Basically, everyone is going to say truck cuz they are larpers who don't care about comfort or features, but an AWD SUV is gonna offer you a much more modern comfortable experience unless you do really extreme stuff with your car, just recommend you get better tires than stock for off roading installed.

I have a crew cab tacoma with a 6ft bed and camper shell. I made some pull out drawers that go in the bed that I can put gear in. I can basically fit everything i need to camp in the back seats and pull out drawers, still have plenty of space and then my bed can just stay in the back and I don't have to rearrange anything when I want to sleep.

I sat in a new Tacoma recently and it was slightly better but still worse than my Ranger. If you have long arms you might be better off though, since then you can scoot the seat way back and still be comfortable with the steering wheel reach, but if you're long-legged like me it's awful.

>>2843777the new ones did away with the 6 cylinder engine and adopted a 4 cylinder turbo engine they did that with their tundras (went from 8 to 6) in 2022 and had to do a massive recall on the turbo 6s toyota will tell you that a turbo'd 4 will give you the same or better performance as a naturally aspirated 6 cylinder, but what they dont say is that the turbo 4 is a more complicated engine running at higher RPMs and pressure, and longevity and reliability takes a hit. but i guess it also gets 2mpg more too, so worth the trade off? not imo
I own both an old Tacoma with a camper shell and a Mitsubishi Montero suv.I personally like my truck the most because its easier to clean out the bed with a garden hose and a broom. With my Montero i have to worry about getting the interior fucked up so its just a pavement princess for now.

I may be biased because of my 2011 Ranger but late oughts to mid 2010s trucks are peak years for a good mix of mechanical simplicity and some bells and whistles. The new cars being all computer these days makes me really not interested in buying one. Are there any reliable and easily serviceable vehicles still Being made?
