SUV vs Truck. What is the more /out/ vehicle?
The SUck. Fuck you rat ass bastard op for the time wasting thread, I took your shit thread's hymen and this will never be undone. There is nothing you can do about it.
>>2843408eh you're right, i'm just having a hard time making up my mind.
>>2843440depends what you do with itbut suv you get a lot more practicality and a smoother ridesuv + off road tires + awd can do a lot
>>2843395A truck. A few SUVs have 4WD but most don't. A truck with a camping shell is made for camping, obviously. You can camp in it, and you can also haul a kayak in the bed or a trailer behind. Depending on your SUV and your trailer, you may struggle.I've thought about this a lot. I like the idea of sleeping in the same cabin, but a truck is just so much better for /out/.
>>2843443This is the main downside of my SUV. It's such a pain in the ass mounting my kayak to the roof. Otherwise it's pretty comfy to car camp in. Thinking about getting one of those folding kayaks to compensate
truck camping is more fun
>>2843445I'm pretty sure you could get a hatch or roof mounted rack for a kayak that would be easier for your setup. Basically, everyone is going to say truck cuz they are larpers who don't care about comfort or features, but an AWD SUV is gonna offer you a much more modern comfortable experience unless you do really extreme stuff with your car, just recommend you get better tires than stock for off roading installed.
>>2843445just use a trailer. it's so much easier. you can store your kayak on the trailer which makes setup time way faster, no loading up in the morning. also, the trailer is useful for other shit, like moving furnitre/appliances. you can have a utility box on it, rod storage, anything. even with a truck, I prefer a trailer. suv with trailer is the best of both worlds. leave it at home when you don't need it, connect it in 60 seconds when you do. when you do.
>>2843395Body on frame truck/suv >>> your gay little cuckover you call a SUV.If you need me to explain why, you're retarded and should probably stick to the city.
>>2843395Trucks are by far the most versatile type of vehicle for /out/>Lots of different bed/body sizes>No real modification needed to be good offroad, just remove the air dam if your truck has one>Can be used for all types of /out/, especially good for hunters and other dirtier activities >Most are still body on frame and can come with a manual>Can sleep in the back if you use a bed cap, very useful for grizzly country>Makes bugmen seethe and boil with rage
>>2843395I’m about to get an accura mdx. I used to see in a 97 4runner when I was a young /out/ homeless crackhead. It was pretty comfy. I don’t see how sleeping in an mdx could be any worse. Is a camper shell all it’s cracked up to be for a truck?
I have a crew cab tacoma with a 6ft bed and camper shell. I made some pull out drawers that go in the bed that I can put gear in. I can basically fit everything i need to camp in the back seats and pull out drawers, still have plenty of space and then my bed can just stay in the back and I don't have to rearrange anything when I want to sleep.
>>2843395>What is the more /out/ vehicle?any decent 4x4 with a rooftop tentboth come in all shapes and sizes for different needs/tastes some more minimalist than others
Definitely the SUV — it’s got all the off-road capability you’ll ever need to climb that treacherous curb at REI.
>>2843504>offroad99% of trucks are pavement princesses
Both
>>2843441Can it make my father prod of me?
>>2843395your legs
>>2843590I'm really thinking about getting the crew cab Tacoma, but I think I can get away with a 5 ft bed and camper shell. I'm not going to camp very often, and when I do, I could just bring a tent. I'm mostly a fisherman, so having a space to store my gear, haul my kayak, and the capacity to drive in some bad conditions is very appealing. I want to get a new Tacoma because I'm 6'1 and 240 lbs, and I hear the new design is better for bigger people. What can you tell me about Tacoma ownership?
>>2843706Doesn't make them any less capable
>>2843395Lowered Honda Civic Si with a roof rack to put shit. Seems to get me everywhere I need to go in Wisconsin/the UP. Handles snow pretty well. Handles dirt roads just fine. I don't know of any Trailheads within 500 miles of me that would require anything more than this to reach.
>>2843504This, and also don't forget the towing capability they have, which plays into a lot of /out/ activities.
>>2843777fwiw I bought a Ranger because the lack of legroom in the Tacoma was torture for me, and I'm not as tall as you. I sat in a new Tacoma recently and it was slightly better but still worse than my Ranger. If you have long arms you might be better off though, since then you can scoot the seat way back and still be comfortable with the steering wheel reach, but if you're long-legged like me it's awful.
>>2843395Either the Toyota pickup or the Fiat Panda.
>>2843395it's a moot question in my country because there are no such things as trucks, which is bullshit. it's one of the few things i envy you americans for
>>2843832Not even Ranger/Hilux/etc? I thought they sold those pretty much everywhere.
>>2843395SUVs are for normies who need a minivan but are too insecure for one.
>>2843824Thank you for your input. Based on experience, I think the Ranger will fit me much better. But I don't want to buy an American car. I have a sour taste from the GM buyout and the Ford government contracts. I think an American company is going to Jew me, and I say that as a literal Jew.It's a shame to hear the Ranger is probably going to be better for me. I'll start doing research.
