>>
>>2843553
>coded
What?
Qrd
>>
>>2843553
>>shitting outside
>>going several days without showering or using deodorant
>>eating pemmican, smoke salmon and bannock
backpacking is indian coded but not the kind of indians you are talking about OP
>>
>>2843554
It's brain rot from /pol/. In this context it roughly means "act like"
>>
>>2843563
I think it's actually more from left-leaning twitter/tiktok. My "little" (he's 35 now) brother and his friends are total leftist stereotypes and were using it before I ever really saw it here.
>>
>>2843560
I refuse to call natives "indians" because I consider it an insult and I have some level of respect for the natives.
>>
>>2843573
lol all the natives around here hate indians from india
>>
>>2843573
natives you're talking about are natively asian, same as indians though
>>
>>2843598
>muhh bering land bridge
by that same line of thinking, europeans you are talking about are natively african, middle eastern and northern asian.
>>
>>2843599
Yes?
>>
>>2843553
not using toilet paper is (looking at you, disgusting u-light thruhikers using sticks and whatnot)
filtering the water is not
>>

Many American Indians prefer American Indian over Native American because
1. They don't want to change the term to what is now trendy.
2. Treaties and laws specify Indians, not Native Americans. Sometime down the road, they might encounter a problem because they are not Indians. This is not a joke, nor is it making something of nothing. My mom used to work with one of the foremost American Indian legal scholars, and this was his position and that of another professor I knew.
3. Anyone born in America is native to America. There are white people who are 15th generation Americans. Many Americans have never been outside this country. Taking over the term Native American would exclude and diminish all the other Native Americans.
>>
>>2843641
3 is an absolute load of utter bullshit and damn you for spreading this fucking propaganda. Youre a fucking kike.
>>
>>2843608
You’re so new you’ve never even heard of a backcountry bidet.
>>
>>2843641
>Anyone born in America is native to America. There are white people who are 15th generation Americans.
LOL thats not how that works.
>>
>>2843571
>twitter/tiktok
Another form of brain rot.
>>
>>2843646
Why, because you want to reserve the term “Native American” for a specific group rather than allow it to be generally descriptive?

If someone born in America isn’t native to America, which country is that person native to?
>>
>>2843646
Europeans are native to the COUNTRY of America, not the American continent. Not that that deminishes our claim, seeing as how before us there were nothing but warring stone age small tribes, but the distinction is important.
>>
>>2843659
look i dont make the rules, white europeans ruined it for the rest of us so you gotta just live with it.
>>
>>2843662
>warring stone age small tribes
ah another rhodes scholar who's so called knowledge of this subject is entirely derived from the world book encyclopedia of 1950
>>
>>2843664
He’s not wrong though
>>
>>2843666
he is wrong, that is simply not factual and not supported by ANY archaeologist who have studied indigenous remains on the continent. you are repeating prejudicial falsehoods from previous generations that did not have a complete understanding
>>
>>2843553
>Eating curry on a hike
Just in case you wanted to shit your pants miles from civilization
>>
>>2843717
>small tribes
>warring
>stone age
which one of these claims is incorrect and can you provide evidence?
>>
>>2843720
now you're changing the goalposts. your strawmen arguments don't work on me.
>>
>>2843644
Cap.
>>
>>2843644
in e.g. mohave desert?
>>
>>2843727
pathetic.
>>
>>2843563
The terminology predates 4chan.
>>
>>2843659
Not advocating for or against it, but the term "Heritage Americans" is growing in use to describe people whose families have lived in the country for many generations but are not connected to the pre-Columbian inhabitants.
>>2843641
Only 9% of American Indians were opposed to the Washington Redskins name and logo. The other 91% either liked it or didn't care but the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so even though most of them are pretty chill about identity issues, the small percentage who want to air their grievances have found fertile ground in the post-Occupy Wall Street cultural environment.
>>
>>2843765
Tbh no it doesn't
>>
>>2843641
Americans are not white, they are mixed, brown, black and asian. Rest is some random non-white ones that is usually falsely included also into "white". Americans are not actually white like people in Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland etc. and instead are some sort of American definition of "white" meaning non-white in reality.
>>
>>2843766
The Redskins and similar things (Cleveland Indians etc.) have almost nothing to do with actual Indians and far more to do with a certain set of pearl-clutching people who are always looking for reasons to be offended on other groups' behalf.

>>2843807
That's a meme and varies heavily between regions as well. People here in the PNW and also in the upper Midwest are more likely than not to have unbroken European bloodlines, many of them Scandinavian or Germanic. I'm entirely Germanic+Slav myself. It's a different story in the South and Southeast where people's ancestors came to America a lot earlier and had more opportunity to mix.
