here you go, OP

It is in the climbing general.
>>
>>2843747
fuck off man this is a blue board
>>
>influencer
and nothing of value was lost.
>>
>>2843742
It's nothing special, you can see him stumble on the decent and then fall out of the frame.
>>
>>2843742
Lmao what the fuck is he doing
Wrong carabiner for that draw, rope is running behind him??
>>
>>2843757
He wasn’t a fucking influencer and it’s retarded that normie news aggregates are reporting that he was. He was a young climber who achieved some truly impressive feats. The “influencer” who live streamed his death was just some guy filming climbers on twitch for fun.

Unfortunately, Balin’s young gun complacent attitude caused his untimely death. He fell off his rope because he didn’t tie knots at the ends before rappelling. Very dumb mistake made exclusively by complete rookies and complacent pros.
>>
>>2843747
Can we get the Disney cartoon “yaaahh who who who hooey” scream edited in there?
>>
>>2843779
Is that right? All of my outdoor experience is hunting, fishing, backpacking, and kayaking. I don’t know anything about mountain climbing. I keep hearing that the video shows he was amateurish by rappelling too fast and not having a knot tied to keep his rope from slipping through a piece of gear.
>>
>>2843786
>he was amatuerish
yes and the media is likely saying he was an experienced ourdoorsman like usual
>>
>>2843742
is this the guy who rappelled off the end of the rope because he was too cool to tie an end knot?
>>
>>2843789
Doing it more then 3 times makes him an "experienced" beyond the reckoning of most.

>>

This shit ain't work bruh
>>
So why did he fall, looks like whatever his rope was attached to just slipped right through.
>>
>>2843900
He didn't tie a knot at the end of his rope, so when he reached the end, he just slipped off and kept falling. He also had no descending brake or any kind of safety mechanism, because who needs that shit.
>>
>>2843900
because he was an arrogant idiot.

What a stupid mistake.
You watch any how to climb videos the first thing they tell you to put on a stopper knot. I never rope climbed but I even I know it.

kek if he'd spent 5 seconds tying a knot at the end of his rope he'd still be alive
>>
>>2843902
just like this board
>>
>>2843940
Tbh I'm not sure how to feel about this guy's death, given that /out/ is smart enough to tie a simple knot in the end of a rope...
>>
>>2843789
Having ever gone for a two-mile hike makes you an "experienced outdoorsman" in the minds of people who are afraid of bugs in their back yards.

This dude successfully solo'd the hardest technical route on Denali. He was absolutely not an amateur, he just made a dumb mistake.
>>
>>2844155
Here is a video (by other people) of the route he solo'd for perspective https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUMHPnV8qz0
>>
>>2844155
Well I'm still alive so now what
>>
>>2843742
Back in the day the only people that got chopped abeseilling off the end of a rope were beginners and complacent veterans. Seems like the zoomers decided to miss out the 'learning how not to die' section completely and now even the good ones are crow bait.
>>
>>2844213
They're just too zoombrained to stop for five seconds and practice a basic barrel knot at the end of the rope so they don't go YAAAAHOOHOOOO off the end
>>
>>2843905
>>2843815
Can someone explain what happened here to someone who knows absolutely nothing about climbing? Obviously the robe went through some piece of gear when it wasn't supposed to, but was this a cascading failure or is it normal to reach the end of the rope like that?

Haha hey mom if you're here, look I'm greentexting!

Basically you have a belaying device which you can rappel with. It is connected to you harness. It could be a figure 8, belay tube etc. If your device is not self locking you should use a braking knot which holds you if you let go of the rope. The knot on the end of the rope is a must.
>>
>>2844649
You tie a knot in the end anyway. It takes <1 minute and saves your life.

This goober thought he could climb Yosemite but he didn't know to tie a knot at the end of the rope.
>>
>>2844165
There just won't be a response to that.
>>
>>2846602
>There just won't be a response to that.
Well yeah, he’s dead. He won’t be responding to anything
