>ascends Mountain without proper gear>don't tell anyone when you plan to return>disoriented by blizzard >can't find track>dies of hypothermia three hours walk from a roadhttps://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/mystery-surrounds-deaths-of-two-hikers-in-victorian-high-country/du6a48d1rBecause you can see the top from the road, i think people get the impression they can just walk in and out, without really understanding the weather conditions at the top, and how quickly they can change. Never good news.
A managed chalet was built at the top, specifically so hikers could wait out blizards at the top (pic relate). You could have sheltered in place for a week in it if you really had to. I can only imagine that they were caught in a blizzard at the top, decided to try to descend anyway, got stuck in the dark in a blizzard and couldn't work out how to get either up or down.
Sometimes I wonder how unprepared these people are. I read through Freedom of the hills before I even did my first 3 mile hike, the scariest part for me while hiking is coming across other people and having to greet them because I'm autistic. Do these people not do any research before going into the outdoors?
>>2843892Ah women
stupid people will always find a way to kill themselves
>>2843896You read through a technical manual about placing rope ladders and other winter mountaineering skills before you went on a three mile hike? You're definitely more than autistic.
>>2843892if you need all this gear then you're not ready
>>2843892I had no idea there were snow-capped peaks in Australia.
>>2843896>. I read through Freedom of the hills before I even did my first 3 mile hikehahah same
