Never good news.
A managed chalet was built at the top, specifically so hikers could wait out blizards at the top (pic relate).You could have sheltered in place for a week in it if you really had to. I can only imagine that they were caught in a blizzard at the top, decided to try to descend anyway, got stuck in the dark in a blizzard and couldn't work out how to get either up or down.
Sometimes I wonder how unprepared these people are. I read through Freedom of the hills before I even did my first 3 mile hike, the scariest part for me while hiking is coming across other people and having to greet them because I'm autistic. Do these people not do any research before going into the outdoors?
