Well /out/, what is your axe of choice? I've been going down a rabbit hole of axes and it feels almost impossible to pick just one. There are a plethora of amazing blacksmiths who have such a wide range of products that it's completely overwhelming. At the moment I'm leaning towards the Gränsfors Wildlife Hatchet as a general use outdoor axe.
>>2844474Find a good antique head and put any handle of your choice on it.
>>2844475Pardon the ignorant question, but are handles generic in size? I see a couple old Sandvik axes on market place but they'd need a full restore including the handle. Seems a bit challenging to find a handle for an axe with no discernible model
>>2844477>Pardon the ignorant question, but are handles generic in size?Hatchets are one size, axes are another.
>>2844474Fiskars
>>2844505Wasn’t the results of this study (that I posted) that fiskars sucks donkey balls?
>>2844509No, Fiskars ultrasteel alloy is undullable and cannot be broken and its hyperpolymer handle is completely indestructible. Only shills are telling you otherwise.
>>2844505>>2844518Thank you for the suggestion. I actually use the fiskars 8LB maul for most of my wood processing. I wasn't aware that the hatchets were comparable in quality to the Swedish counterparts
>>2844518I love the fiskars stuff but I do find them to be softer. Never broken a handle but I’ve definitely put some chunks into the metal. My favorite splitting and maul are my fiskars. From the factory they’re really sharp.
>>2844551You’ll enjoy them. They do have a bit of a different profile though, they’re more similar to your 8lb than a normal curved one
