Do you bushcraft when you're /out/?
>>2846366No, I LNT.
>>2846437You always leave traces.
>>2846441>YOU AREN'T BEING PERFECT SO WHY BOTHER TRY ING AT ALL??!11Puerile cynicism.
>>2846443It's just the truth.
destruction of nature for knickknacks and other bullshit
>>2846450Calm down. Trees grow back. They are pretty much the definition of a renewable resource. They die and fall over and are laying all over the place. You can pick one up and make a table, or a bench, no problem. It accelerates the biological decomposition process.
>>2846445NTA but what's your point then? Are you just stating a truthism because you have nothing better to do with your time or are you attempting to contribute something useful to the conversation?
>>2846437>>2846441>be some asshole YouTuber I used to watch>make a video showing how to build a small cabin out of plastic wrap>comments rightfully point out how wasteful it is and how all that plastic is going to end up in the forest or in the dump>butthurt youtuber responds: "But you all use plastic in your day to day lives, so how can you criticize me! For we are the same!"This is how you know someone has a low IQ.
>>2846366yup but veeeeery simple using stone tools. i want to try and build a sweet track next in the marsh
>>2846441No way, I watched all the Garand Thumb videos about how not to get tracked.
>>2846437This is the correct answer. The fact that nu-/out/ doesn't grasp this is pretty sad...
>>2846456Very true. Its a constant battle on my property to keep the forest at bay.If I dont cut down 100+ trees a year my meadows get overtaken.
>>2849013LNT is retarded. Obviously don't litter and cut down healthy trees, leave ugly larp shelters, etc. but the idea that you're somehow harming the environment by foraging a few plants, harvesting dead wood, or building a fire pit is ridiculous.
>>2849029>LNT is retardedPost hand
>>2849029>331.9 MILLION peopleObviously a bunch of repeats since thats basically the population of the country.But.....If only 1% built fire pits then thats 3 million fire pits a year.Lets say some dig holes and others build rings- thats about how many rocks moved- 10 million?EVERY YEAR You dont think that will change the environmen
>>2849031>muh linear extrapolationThe vast majority of those visitors stay in or near the visitor center. Many don't even leave their cars. Moreover, people tend to use existing fire pits when they can. The only time one would make a fire pit is when they've found a nice spot and one doesn't exist. It's not like everyone is just going around building random fire pits in the middle of the forest for no reason. If you go backcountry camping in Algonquin park, which is the most popular park in Ontario, you'll find that even though fire wood is hard to come by, it still exists. Despite the fact that the easier to access camp sites are booked up virtually every single day for the entire canoe season, you will still be able to find dead wood to burn. With that said, I'm not worried about harming the environment when I go off trail and find random spots inna woods that no one else ever goes to.
>>2846528Same point LNTers make when they venture out on their feel-good ego pursuits. They are not floating 12 inches above the earth "leaving no trace." They mark up their beloved environment, too. Walking around grinding off microplastics from the bottoms of their shoes, flaking off polyester and nylon from their clothes, buying tents, tarps, rain jackets, and other polluting clothes, then feeling superior because they didn't go off the trail and trample wild grasses, or move/process/burn deadfall. In short, they are retarded smuggies who need the smile wiped off their faces.
>>2849016Nature itself is telling you there shouldn't be a meadow there, but you won't listen.
>>2849038post hand
>>2846437isn't this cuckoldry applied to the outdoors?just sitting in the corner watching?
>>2849104Correct.My chainsaw allows me to defy nature.
>>2846636I still tracked you easy.
>>2846366never, I just use rocks and wood from the floor to make a fire and let nature intactI think that if you build any bushcraft you'll destroy the natural view I love about the place, that is why we use tents to just sleep and not leave any traces just imagine everywhere you go /out/ there is a wood cabin, tables and stuff... it would absolutely lost the appeal of the place
>>2849585Bushcraft can be sticking a suitable branch next to the stove so that you can dry your boots faster. Or when you lose that damn tent peg and need to cut a Y-shaped stick to make your tent right. I used to make shit shovels out of sticks thick at one end, just shaving it down flat with a knife. But then I got a trowel on chinese ebay.It can be anything that you make of it. I'd like to get a few handheld woodworking tools, Beavercraft type stuff, to put in my camping bag. Then I can carve things while I am out there if the moment takes me. There will probably be a self-made spoon on a shelf somewhere one day with my initials carved into the handle.
