I don't qrd
>>
>>2846517
As this anon states>>2846457 we used to poop in them. it was our greatest moment here on /out/
we called it geopooping
>>
We even used to have a geopooper patch
>>
I've been getting into urban exploring recently. I think there's a cool potential overlap between the two. Do geocache sites ever lead you some where cool and hidden? or is it usually just tupperware on the side of a trail?

I found nice small lake while looking for cache
camped near it, it was comfy
>>
Oh snap! Thanks for reminder. Good times.
>>
>>2848541
Did you poop?
>>
>>2846448
I pooped in one. It was the pipes in the ground type of cache. It's like a tiny toilet, very satisfying
>>
>>2846531
>>2848760
This was a dark time for this board. Bunch of fucking degenerates here thought it was funny to defecate into something that had been put out in the woods to basically get children interested in the outdoors, They would post photos here then wait for the reactions online on the geocatching website. Some poor father left to explain to a child that some fucking people are just animals.

Then the dipshits here would sit behind their computers and giggle like litlle fucking boys
>>
>>2848762
It's not that deep anon
>>
>>2848762
> This was a dark time
Was?
I’m still pooping in them my man!
>>
>>2848762
Sounds extremely fun and based, we oughta do it again sometime
>>
>>2848762
you're right, it is that deep, and the world would be a better place if they were all be rounded up.
>>
>>2848793
Luckily degenerates like you no longer have the motivation to leave the couch much less find a geocatch and lay a mud monkey down for all the world to see
>>
>>2848808
yup nothing like someone on an outdoor board defending intentionally leaving something intentionally permanent in the woods that will only encourage the further destruction of the eco system by people who don't care about anything but bagging another checkmark on a website.
>>
>>2848909
Terrible take
Getting people into the outdoors helps them to appreciate its pristine beauty.
Anyone who is part of geocatche culture has also learned to leave no trace, The geocatches themselves are not permanent and are easy to replace or gather up and remove once the lifespan is done
>>
>>2848912
You obviously have never met a geocacher, they literally march through the woods ignoring trails to find their stupid boxes. They will literally dig and cut through trees to "reaccess" a cache. They are leaving trash in the woods, just cause you like to leave your name in a notepad in their trashcan doesn't make it not trash. You are scum man.
>>
>>2848915
None of that is true for the vast majority. Maaaaybe a few high school kids ten years ago left litter

Your take is not based on reality
>>
>>2848921
The boxes themselves are litter.
nothing you say could convince me otherwise. and no I don't like cairns or signage on true backcountry trails either
>>
>>2848926
Then we shall just have to disagree.

They box itself is temporary and gets removed.
The big problem with cairns is the removal of the rock and disturbance of micro environments. Nothing like this happens with the geocatches
Signage keeps people on the trails instead of bushwacking so we also disagree on that
>>
>>2848927
You can put signage on trails used by regular people but if you can't check a map at the fork of a road or trail you shouldn't be allowed more then 10km from a parking lot.
>>
>>2848928
Well no one can stop them from going places that are way over there head. I am a first responder that gets roped into wilderness rescues and it fucking sucks. If I could keep them out, I would
>>
>>2848912
this tbdesu
the "geocaches are ruining nature" argument is retarded. the entire point of the thing is to be hidden out of the view. you literally have to go out of your way to see it and be mad about it. it's like that
>i_deliberately_entered_a_thread_don't_like_and_now_i'm_mad.jpg
reaction pic
>>
>>2848931
You keep them out by not putting up easy signage thats encourages people to feel safe so they end up far enough into the woods to require rescue.
>>
>>2848933
I understand that the average person is not very observant but i've found well over 10 caches with just my eyesight they stick out like a sore thumb like all litter does in nature.
>>
>>2848939
Where I live there is very little signage because there is no money for it. very rural place. It does not stop the idiots
>>

>>
>>2846448
one time i was jerking off in my car and unbeknownst to me i had parked right next to a geocache so some neckbeard guy and his dad showed upand wanted to see the geocache and there i am sitting with my pants around my ankles and my dick in my hand. no i didnt coom.
>>
my dad tried to take me geocaching a few years ago
we weren't able to find it but it was fun anyway
i remember it was a much bigger thing when i was young (like 7 years old, i'm almost 22 now)

shit everywhere in everything until people are all subhumans
>>
>>2849610
Find a real outdoor hobby and maybe people won't put shit (litter) in your geocache (litter)
>>
>>2849615
;-;
>>
>>2849621
if you get off on putting shit permanently in the woods just join your local trail building / maintenance society.
>>
>>2849623
that might be a good idea actually
>>
>>2849623
>permanently
None of these are permanent. If this is what has your panties in a wad then you are misinformed
>>
>>2849769
I don't see a lot of em being removed. They are either left forever in the woods discarded or much less likely replaced with fresh litter. This hobby will die out entirely in the next 10 years and there will be hundreds of thousands of old plastic film containers pill bottles tupperware etc just left in the woods as litter.
>>
>>2849787
It may die out , but these geocatches are routinely removed by the hosts that placed them or by geocatchers that find abandoned ones. This us built into the culture.
Leave no trace is one of the foundational principles that the whole hobby was built to teach
>>
>>2849599
You wont do it
>>
>>2849802
wtf is leave no trace about leaving shit in the woods. I don't think you know what leave no trace is if you think its acceptable to leave little waterproof boxes permanently in the woods. it isn't "leave no trace eventually in the end I guess" its "leave no trace" aka you pack out anything you packed in every time you go to the wilderness.
>>
>>2850084
>permanently
There you go using that word again
>>
>>2850088
in your response to my previous post you literally said "abandoned ones" and beyond that the principles of leave no trace indicate you shouldn't be leaving anything anywhere without having an "immediate" removal plan. The only time you are allowed to leave stuff in the woods is like an old school style siege climbing event where you have to pack in a lot of gear to make an attempt but even then since it is "leave no trace" you have to take everything out with you when you leave at the end of the week or two you can't just leave a waterproof box with supplies waiting for you in the woods. That is not LEAVE NO TRACE. I understand you wish to bend the rules and ethics of leave no trace to include your hobby (littering) but I personally will not let you mentally warp a solid concept like leave no trace just so you can feel good about your stupid wasteful hobby.

i'm going to kill myself
>>
fact:>>>>2850094
>>
>>2850092
>"abandoned ones"
Yes, sometimes the person that places them wanders off. The geocatche is still in the system and it gets flagged for removal by the next person that gets there. This works really well
>>
>unironically advocates street shitting
i want jeets to leave
>>
>>2848537
URBX is just a fucking scam.
It can only really exist if assets are actually left behind.
