What bottles do you like the best for re-use when hiking/doing outdoors stuff?
>>2848373nalgenethreads over back it up
>>2848374Which nalgene bottle do you use/like?
>>2848373Anything glass or metal. Zero percent of my outdoor equipment is made of plastic.
>>2848373those squirty caps are great for a makeshift bidet.screw it on some smaller bottle and you can wash your ass anywhere
>>2848376Curious because I've looked into this before: what's your rain gear and tent like?
>>2848375the big boi wide mouth 48oz 1.5 litre ones, I've got like 5 total of the HDPE 1.5 litres two HDPE 1 litres, which are cool cause they can handle boiling water and freezing water with no issues and two regular 1.5litres cause they look cooler and technically have a bit more capacity cause the walls are thinner.
>>2848416Waxed linen canvas.
>>2848416Tent is handmade from waxed canvas sailcloth, rain gear is oiled canvas and natural rubber.I mixed cinnamon oil into the beeswax for the tent this year, it smells amazing.
>>2848373I just crush down a 1L pop bottle and then put the lid back on, making it thin and lightweight for carrying. Any is fine.
>>2848396I forgot toilet paper last weekend. Turns out that the human ass is designed to be wiped with fallen Beech leaves, and they worked better than toilet paper.
>>2848373The cheapest water bottle you can buy in a case from Costco or Walmart. 4-5 of em in your pack and you're sorted for the whole day.
>>2848373yurop here, andros brand fruit juice has a very sturdy bottle with a good wide mouth screw cap. they make excellent outdoor bottles light, cheap, reuse, tough, tight, wide mouth for easy refill, no cry when you lose one because you buy one every week.
>>2849214dayhiker spotted
>>2848373perfectionthese smartwater-like reusable bottles that have been coming out recently are pretty neat
>>2849246Yup.
>>2848373$1.25 alkaline water with electrolytes from dollar tree.1.5L, dirt cheap if you need to replace 2 bottles last me about 2 days when camping
I alternate between 1L and 500 ml mason jars. They’re easy to clean and i think it’s easier to tell when they’re dirty or not compared to plastic both visually AND smell wise.
>>2849323I have one it works fairly well. When camping the small opening is a pain to refill but backpacking with a sawyer is perfect. I want to try the m!go since it has large / small caps. But it’s out of stock. There are also reports of leaking but o-rings might be a simple fix.
>>2849568It's a fucking bottle, get over yourself. Just buy one and use it instead of upgrading your underwear every time some asian adds an extra ventilation hole. This is faggotry.
>>2849579interesting anti bottle discussion post in a thread specifically about bottle discussion.
>>2849579this guy doesn't like bottles
>>2848710>cinnamon oil into the beeswax for the tent this year, it smells amazing.yeah im sure the bears will love chewing on that while they eat your legs
I was homeless and broke so I only used birch oil for my canvas tent (Thornhill 3x3m). It doesn't breathe as well as before but at least it's not leaking now. Collecting all that oil took an eternity kek. The tent is dark green and now it has subtle black spots on it.
Any recs for sturdy metal ones? All I ever see are plasticshit

>>2848373I was watching youtube videos people made of their appalachian trail hikes and they ALL had smart water water bottles. It's not about the water, they were obviously repeatedly refilling them with filtered stream water. Maybe they were compatible with the filter. It was just surprising to see them using disposable water bottles. But I would think someone would use a Nalgene.
>>2850625I started my AT thruhike with a titanium bottle and a camelbak a few weeks in i sent that shit home and used a smart water bottle for the rest of the trip.
>>2848374/thread. Does you pronounce Nalgene or Nalgene?
>nalgene>glass>metal>mason jarsThread is filled with flat landers and people who wander into forests for a few miles at most
>>2848374I hope this stuff is good, just ordered two of their bottles.
>>2850674bestow your wisdom upon us
>>2848373I use a cnoc bag to collect and store, and to carry fresh water I use smart water bottles, my trusty old kleen kanteen, or a camelback.
>>2850636just because of the weight, then?
>>2850674kek can you not afford 20 dollars for a 1.5 litre bottle made of thick hdpe that can withstand freezing and boiling. You don't actually go out if you use smart bottles those are for the first 5-10 trips tops.
>>2850698pretty much yeah, plus the water filters thread onto the smart water bottle
>>2849680>LE BEARS TO EATS U SAARLeave it to the benchcamper to fearmonger about bears to someone without an appreciable bear population. You know what I did last time I saw a bear? I was cooking and stood up and told it to fuck off. I didn't see it again that trip.>>2850679He wants you to eat, drink, and breathe cheap chinese plastic at all times instead of being minimally fit.
>>2849579
>>2850698SmartWater bottles (and the CNOK Thru Bottle) are also tall and slim compared to a typical Nalgene. The former take up less space in side pockets. And of those side pockets have front access, slender bottles that taper toward the cap are a lot easier to slip back in while still wearing the backpack.
the m!go water bottles = new king of water bottles, smart water bottles #2.
>>2851395m!go are perfect for those with other filters. you can just open the big cap..
>>2851395I don't take women's advice.
>>2851395>plasticshitYou don't go /out/
>>2851449The world would be a better place if you killed yourself.
>>2851556You use metal when you're /out/, plastic will break
>>2851589HDPE nalgene is not the soccer mom bottle you've seen; it's cheaper, less trendy, and the wide mouth curve back rectangles are beautifully efficient. It doesn't shatter, it tears.
>>2851598This is a genuinely AI post, likely using Claude Opus
you mean piss jugs right?
>>2851602that's cooking oil
>>2848373Kleankanteen or grayl duh
>>2851599No, no it isn't. I gave you an institutional use product that isn't even on their main consumer site. It's a rectangle so foggy that you wouldn't be able to see your cum soaked rainbow dash in it, but it does the job.
I've heard the HDPE is more durable, is that true?
>>2848373I'm a working manhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIGKlicb8n0>>2850669I used to say nalgene, but I now pronounce it as nalgene, and I am impartial to people that say nalgene. I did however encounter someone that pronounced it as "nalgene", weird.
>>2848373I really like my EDC thermos. When I backpack I just use a water bladder, but I carry this with me when no traveling, if I'm traveling I'll typically use a soft hydroflask
>>2851928
>>2850740What a retarded logic, did you use cinnamon wax on your tent that occasion you dumb fuck? Bears are ATTRACTED to sweet shit are you brand new to tenting? It’s like swimming in the ocean with meat around your neck, sure you might make it but why risk it? Dumb fuck
>>2851599the fact you've chosen to name an individual ai means your likely an idiot.
