I'm from Texas, born and raised, and I think you're all batshit insane for going out into subzero temperatures to go camping. What's the fucking point? How is that enjoyable? Follow the birds and go south for the winter, there's plenty more nature /out/ there you haven't seen yet, and it's not covered in a foot of snow so you can actually enjoy it. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Bear season ends a month before deer rifle starts, retard. They’re all hibernating. Only thing you gotta watch for is moose
>>
>>2848630
Yeah, I'm retarded for being a Texan who doesn't have bear hibernation schedules memorized. But you're a faggot because you get mad at jokes.
>>
>>2848635
I don't think he got mad at your joke. I think you're just a sensitive faggot who is unable to tolerate the cold.
>>
>>2848638
Able, yes. Willing, no. While you're hiding from nature in your sleeping bag and tent because that's what's necessary for your survival in that weather, I'm sitting comfortably by a campfire roasting my dinner and drinking beer. You could be too if you just get in your car and drive.

Yes

Don't you go bringing facts and sense into this mudslinging.
>>2848658
I honestly think all you northern faggots are soft because you can't handle heat or humidity at all, you literally faint like a scared goat.
>>
>>2848668
you've clearly never been to the northeast if you think it doesn't get hot and humid here. we just don't live in a shithole desert there is water around.
>>
>>2848668
Texas is absolutely perfect and the rest of the country is a woke shithole with nothing to offer. Stay there.

You don't get /out/ much
>>2848678
It's funny that you think of those soft ass city boys who take ski trips as vacations as representative of the Texas populace. If you live in a city then it really doesn't matter what state you live in, you all have the same generic globalist culture as far as I'm concerned. A faggot from Dallas is no different than a faggot from New York City or Seattle.

I'm not experienced enough to do sub-zero in a remote place, not without unforeseen discomfort at the very least. But I camp in winter when it's cold, when you see your own breath in the dark, and I like it. There's something excellent about getting a stove tent set up, with a stock of firemaking wood next to the burner. Once I've got it all arranged and the water is boiling on the top there, I will sit down and drink a cup of tea in absolute peace.
>>
>>2848725
That sounds nice.
I went "camping" at the Texas Renaissance Festival last weekend and it was more than cold enough to see your breath. There ain't a point to having a fire if it's not at least a little bit cold.

The cold keeps the bad people away. It's also very quiet and serene. It's like the Chronicles of Narnia.
>>
>>2848628
They're hibernating, Anon.
>>
>>2848642
You've got a dress for success. Wear fur and wool, you'll be fine. I don't know who but there's this old 70 year old bushcrafter YouTube dude that lives outside in Alaska all year around. I watched a video years ago of him boiling a pot of coffee in the middle of winter, it was cozy.

The cold can really be killer, but I also saw a nudist documentary about people in Lapland that were running around in the arcit circle butt naked so that always makes me feel like I just need to power through it.

Don't talk shit about my sister, she's the most beautiful moose in the world.

How I miss those days when I lived in Minnesota... fuck Georgia @ this point, I want to go back.
>>
>>2849174
That's the part I missed about the cold- however, it's not that great for fishing since the fish don't like moving too much.
>>2848622
Not everybody has money to go that far and 2nd, the cold and snow are nice! Get a good a tent that has a hole that will allow a makeshift chimney to poke thru so you can have a fire!
>>
>>2849226
Damn bro why would you move from the best region of the country to the worst??
>>
>>2849232
Being a dumb 21 yr old that desired warmer weather since they were 16 yrs old and wanting a fresh start on life, did it because a friend offered me a job, and I've been here since, and I'm almost in my 30's... I'll probably go back next year.

Guess it depends on the lake. I've been ice fishing a few times and usually do alright. Especially if you're not being too picky I know a guy that hooked up a bunch of tullibee once, same for eel pout, but you can still get pike, blue gill, northerns, and walleyes.
>>
>>2849271
Same, but for me it was 25-31 with California. I honestly would've gone back already butI logistical details pushed it back a year. As soon as I turned 30 a light switch flipped in my head and I was like: "I need to get out of here NOW."

It can be fun to go away in your 20's to explore and enjoy the warmth, but eventually you realize where you started was the best place of all. There and Back Again, like The Hobbit.
>>
>>2848622
Aren't you the same fags that when it starts to barely snow out you guys freak the fuck out lose all brain function?

I get 100° Summers and -10 in Rural NY and we all do fine. OP is a pussy

>Not everybody has money to go that far
No wonder this whole thread is butthurt. You couldn't leave for greener pastures if you wanted to, so if you act like you don't want to then you feel less trapped. Makes sense.
>>
>>2849368
It's more like *if* it snows, then schools usually give the kids the day off. If there's a hard freeze only those in poverty will have any issues, if you're not a poorfag you'll fare just fine. There's always a bunch of wrecks from retards running summer tires over icy bridges. Most people are not prepared for freezing weather unless they moved here from a much colder state.
