fantasy books recommendations?
>>2849507Indian Myths and Legends of the Pacific Northwest collected by Franz Boas
>>2849507haven't read it yet but i heard that the howl's moving castle book is really good and stands on its own compared to the movie, it is also very different.krabat is one of my absolut favourite books. it's a sorbian folktale about a boy having recurring dreams of 11 raves telling him to go to a black mill to start working there. ottfried preußler's version is highly recommended and often features these really nice woodcut prints
>>2849507obligatory bible reply
>>2849507Aubrey Maturin series, not fantasy per se but historical fiction and very /out/ and there's dozens of them.Conan collected short stories are great too.
>>2849507The Silmarillion One Thousand and One Nights >>2849591redditor
>>2849507Redwall SeriesWatership DownWilliam the Curious; Knight of the Water Lillies
>>2849591we already know you're gay, you don't have to keep reannouncing it
>>2849507Space Trilogy by c.s. lewisGormenghast by peakeIf you pick up tolkien's silmarillion, as anon suggests, get the rest of his lore books as well.
>>2849507exurb1a "the fifth science""the prince of milk" is good as well, but more focused on the characters than the world, feels more like a creepypasta or some shit>>2850003i've finished the first two books of the space trilogy, only a few pages into the third
>>2850005the finale is particularly great. it comes back to earth and, for that reason, is less fantastical. if you read the author's forward, it made mention of a thesis (non-fiction) that it was based on. the abolition of man by c.s. lewis. very good read. lewis also wrote till we have faces which is based on cupid and psyche. check that out if you've time.

>>2850003Seconding space trilogy. Book of the New Sun series by Gene Wolfe is also great
>>2850754rejecting botnw wolfe self-inserts as the protag who manages to snag hot babes left and right (has sex with them too). basically there's so much text dripping with sexual intent that it can only be understood as coming from a perverted old man.
>>2850963zoomer problems lol
>>2850963His writing is preferable to Martin's incest fantasy
>>2849507Conan>which one?
>>2850963sex is fine in botns since its not explicit (offscreen 90% of the time) and severian is explicitly left unfullfilled by the handful of women he sees. It's also heavily implied hes lying about several of these and using them as justification for his actions, given the book is a memoir. Also sev's what, 17-19 during the bulk of the series? Of course that shit is gonna be on his mind.book 3 is peak /out/ with him walking through the mountains with the green light of the moon seeping through the thin atmosphere. creatures like alzebos are cool as shit too. My only complaint with the series is the last couple books shy away from the strange locales as much. If all you focused on were sev's exploits with women instead of everything fucking else going on around him, thats on you. Cause thats only like 5% of the story
>>2849507The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick RothfussAnything by Brandon Sanderson
>>2849507The Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy by Tad Williams,
>>2849547>krabat is one of my absolut favourite books.Looks neat. I'm going to check it out.
