Blankets that are nice and cozy and come with a compression bag or can compress nicely? What do you guys use?

I use a Kelty Bestie blanket, but I can't really recommend it.

I just use normal blankets, I don't care if it gets a little dirty, I'll just clean it when I get home

I use a EE quilt I got from massdrop ages ago.

Canadian army surplus wool blanket.
>>

Dedicated /out/ wool blanked so I don't care if it gets dirty. I sleep on it during the warm months for extra padding, or I'll put it over my sleeping bad during cold months.

I've been dreaming of buying or making totally overkill cape in terms of quality and featerus. I just want to be able to grab it from my pack and be cozy anywhere and at all conditions. In rain, down to -20c, on bare ground, by a fire, as a hobo sauna(wrap around the cape, sit down and have a gas stove/candles between feet), stumbling trough spruce forests without fearing it getting torn up. All that and preferably sub 10L and decent looks thank you. Where should i begin?

Plash palatka, but with an added insulating lining.

You sound like that guy who wanted a space suit for the outdoors. There's tradeoffs in very material and construction.
>Outer material
You can go with a synthetic material with goretex membrane, that would be waterproof breathable. Not very durable though and would be damaged by sparks. Or you go with cotton like a palatka, but it would not be fully waterproof. Or you go with wool gabardine, which is durable, decently water repellent, mostly unharmed by sparks, but good luck finding or paying for it. Anything durable will be bulky.
>Insulation
I suggest a climashield fill, it is light and durable. The proper weight will have to be determined by you. Insulation creates more bulk.
>Lining
This one is easy, a synthetic lining will do fine. Again, the more durable you want it, the heavier it gets.

Do consider what kind of pattern you want it to be in. A poncho is easily made, but will have a lot of excess fabric. Go with a more tailored pattern.

Where can I get an authentic repro of US Woobie? I have never seen it irl but it gets praised alot and so im looking for one. But I have no frame of reference.

I've recently seen used, some NOS condition, for sale. Not even expensive. I am no expert on the matter but I dont think the seller tries to deceive people. Do you have a particular need that necessitates the poncho liners to be reproduction? Or are the old ones known to be rotten out by now?
I find often, with such old items, authentic repros might be impossible or prohibitively expensive in todays market, as often manufacturing of even the precursor materials has advanced and improved and as such new processes may have completely replaced older processes.
Like the fill. If you look at synthetic fill technology, it is not the same as yesteryear and some of that might have trickled down even to the most basic plushy fill because of economy of scale.

Anyways
>picrel
is from one of the offers I saw. The vendor asks 35 units and claims they are like new and original. Varying mfgs. Customers who have left reviews confirmed that theirs has no trace of use.
Also surplus used to be a thing because when they make changes things have to go and as a result they are cheap. Reproductions sort of defeat the point, you're starting from a position where you have to make something for the money. Not where something does not serve it's original purpose anymore and must go. So you'll pay more or get less than with surplus. At which point you might just get something that serves the need but has good quality.

Thank you for the tips!

I'm mainly looking for repros because right now its PITA to get stuff delivered from USA in reasonable time and money.

sellers I've looked at and mentioned are germanistani
is the woobie really as good as people claim?
I mean I assume it to be a technologically inferior climashield apex sandwiched between two layers of ripstop? Only that DYI this route would be more than the original or repro.

Northface has a blanket that comes in a compression bag, also has a hole and hoodie style pocket so you can wear it like a poncho. Lost mine but was super nice.
