Is long distance countryside biking considered /out/?
If so, let's have a thread about it
>>
>>2851891
I've never done it but this is absolutely /out/. I saw a lot of people bikepacking when I drove highway 1 for the first time last year.
>>
>>2851891
yeah it's /out/ enough to count, but there's probably more bikepackers on /n/

120km to 200km in summer is the average cycling enthusiast norm can be done under 10-12 hours at moderate pace and rests, you get to see a lot more than just hiking
>>

Even the average person can cover many miles on a bike in a day, it's a great way to get along.

But I want to do it the lame way: get a good electric mountain bike and load it up with all my gear, then just roll along at 15mph all day long. I was thinking, you can lift the bike/stuff over fences if necessary too so there's few places you couldn't go.

It’s not.
Unless it’s autistic screeching about hatchets, shaving grams off your theoretical load outs (but never actually hiking),or retreating off grid from society— it’s not actually /out/ material.

For more /out then the threads about fishing, tobacco, cars, houses, solar power, rainbow gatherings, downhill skiing, etc

You forgot to add that we talk about that every day but we don't actually do it.

I'm always off grid when not here

And bringing the worst of society (aka the internet) with you?

I did a 2,500 mile tour this past summer. It is /out/ material. Here are a few reasons:
- I took a lot of advice from ultra light. My base weight was ~20 lbs (+ 20 lb bike)
- I believe it’s more /out/ than /n/ the goal of the travel is not to get from A -> B but rather to enjoy the trip. This normally means avoiding cars (ie people).
- I didn’t shower for weeks at a time.
- I did calorie/water math to figure out how much I had to carry between resupplies.
- I camped every night

It’s pretty similar to hiking - just u can resupply much more often (normally at least once a day) and dont have to carry the weight on ur body. 10/10 would recommend as a /out/ thread

What’s some cool places to do it? I only really know that route from Seoul to Busan in Korea and I think there’s a huge lake in Taiwan that has a trail and is supposed to be really pretty too

How do you avoid handlebar palsy when riding long distance? I've tried a more ergonomic grips and changing my sitting pose to shift the bulk of my weight backwards, but i can still feel my hands going numb after 1 hour or so
(i kinda suspect this mostly has something to do with my overall weight, which unfortunately can't be helped as there's not much room on my bike, so inevitably i'll have to wear some of it on my person)

I use areo bars with 50 mm spacers to raise them to make them more ergonomic. Great for taking weight off your wrists if you’re doing long, flat, straight rides. Not so great if u need a lot of control over the bike
