I'd like to climb a really big mountain but Mont Blanc is certainly not my dream, despite its beuty. Grossglockner is much less suicidal if you have some climbing experience.

>4694 m of prominence
>2812 km of isolation
>a walkup
yep, count me in

also if you had an iq above room temperature you would know that rockfall happens only in one place during the hottest hours of the day and even then most of the time nothing happens
>>
>I'm a pussy, rocks scare me
>>

>higher death rate than Denali

Higher death rate often do not indicate the mountain is more dangerous, just that it attracts more unqualified people.

Denali has a high barrier to entry, you have to charter a flight that drops you off on a glacier in the middle the of nowhere and be prepared to spend weeks camping on the glaciers in extreme weather. Mont Blanc is much, much easier to attempt. So it attracts more idiots who don't know what they are doing.
>>
Mont Blanc is the meme hill of the alps. Guides turn down thousands of fatties and there are still tards everywhere.
>>

>>2852108
I'm going to assume the "lower" death rate on Denali also has to do with the guides. I knew three guides for Denali, and their service would flat out refuse to take you to the summit if you're out of shape or otherwise a risk to yourself and the guides. I've never been to Denali, so I'm not sure if guiding is mandatory, but if it is then that explains it.
>>
>>2852121
>so I'm not sure if guiding is mandatory

It is not mandatory. But like I said you have to be extremely competent to attempt it without one. You have to charter your own flight and prepare all the supplies you need to handle living out on a glacier for 3 weeks.

the alps is great but crowded af and also expensive as fuck. are there other comparable places in europe that aren't as crowded and expensive?

i'm thinking like the pyrenees, but even less well known. maybe somewhere in the baltics, or greece, are there any good mountains there?
>>
>>2852135
Tatra (slovakia/poland) or carpathians (romania).
>baltics
Lel
Might as well search for mountains in the netherlands.
>>
>>2852138
Polish part of Tatra is ceowded too but I still like it

Then this part is for you.
Not crowded because of very difficult mountains. Not expensive, either.

If day hikers can erect a hot tub at the summit of your mountain, it's absolutely a normie tier peak.

I thought it works the other way around cause difficulties tend to cause traffic jams

hello i am basque
Pyrennees are very nice to hitch most time of years, with beautiful scenery all around you. The fauna is not scared of the people that trails here as long as you don't aggressively run at them. Plus there's Pottoks, tiny wild horses, to see.
As for tourism, you can expect them during summer and winter but it's not alps level, even less when you attempt the tougher trails.
If you want cheap supplies or fuel, shop in spain btw because our gov is retarded and everything is expensive for nothing but it's still less expensoie than most regions. Also, if you go to the pays basque, be prepared to see both french and basque written around.

How possible would it be to pack all of the necessary stuff, fly to Anchorage or somewhere, go to Denali National Park by a bus or train, hike to the base camp and climb the mountain using the stuff you (and optionally your similarly retarded friends) carry on your back?

It's Mount McKinley
>>

you simply must become the 0.001% of people even capable of doing a peak. Then you can hike in peace.

is 0.001% not good enough for you i'm talking about doing rare lines or hard to get to peaks that require experience cause you can't rely on guides having done it before or previous fully planned and executed expeditions to copy.
>>
>>2852535
why can't they just build a road to the top?
>>
Just go do Kailash. No one is known to have summited it.

>The highest motorable pass in the world is Umling La, located in Ladakh, India, at an elevation of 19,024 feet (5,799 meters). It surpasses other well-known passes, including Khardung La, which is often mistakenly claimed to be the highest.
If 5800 meters isn't high enough for you, then suck it up and become a world class hiker.

Idk about you, but I'd rather be that guy on the other peak than be in the cramped jaccuzzi with a bunch of sweaty dudes
>>
>>2852739
gay guy here, none of them are actually hot, but in theory the jacuzzi would be nice if the dudes were hot

Nobody said they were hot, you disgusting sex pest. Can't you act like a human being for 5 minutes instead of thinking about swampy, shitty anuses?
>>
>>2852747
they should have (hot) showers right the mountain peak, and shelters with mattresses so you can have clean anal sex while enjoying the views

I have no motivation to climb a mountain but if I did I would want to climb a dangerous one without many people there. Everest might as well be sponsored by Omega at this point.

Wouldn't Matterhorn be better choice than Mont Blanc for someone who wants to be at k2?

can i rent a farmers' donkey for a week and walk around the region with it
