What is your opinion on folding kayaks? I live where not every fishing hole has a trail leading to it and I'm not looking to drag a full sized kayak along with fishing gear everywhere I want to go

>>2852036Mine has been pretty good but i got it at the end of the season and only got 5 used out of it so far, so no comment on long term durabilityThe main downsides are that on the tuktek at least the plastic has sharp edges so you will cut yourself paddling unless you sand the edges. Also the sides are low and you sit right on the floor of the kayak, so water from paddling or large wakes can splash in leaving you with a wet ass.I don't know if the oru ones are more hikeable, but the carry strap on these would benefit from some sort of extender or diy upgrade to be truly hikeable for long distances. I wouldn't want to hike this on rough terrain or much more than a mile because it is large and still fairly awkward to carry.

I had the tucktec, it worked fine for a few times but after a while the folds got weak and it started to fold in on me every time I used it. It looks like they redesigned it a little so maybe it is better now. The core issue is that there's no side to side bracing and if you lean back even a little on the seat it will tend to kink the folds the wrong way, then they get weak and start to bend on their own.
that's not a fishing kayak, that's a recreational kayak. it won't be viable once you load it up with gear and hopefully some fish
