If you’re used to the Adirondacks the closest you’ll get is Big Bend. Other than the national forests in east Texas and a few state parks the state is mostly private land. LBJ grasslands is pretty good if you’re near DFW. No normalfags are usually on the trails, and the only other people besides me there if I see any are on horses

Huntsville State Park is the most visited state park in Texas, if I recall correctly
I'm from Huntsville, it's nice /out/ here

big bend is 8 hours away from anything, this isnt the norfeast where you can drive 1 hour from nyc and be at big bear mountain.

There are plenty of state parks that offer minor hiking. Otherwise my favorite locations: Big Bend, Palo Duro Canyon, Enchanted Rock, Jacob's Well (more touristy), and Garner State Park.

There is the Crockett National Forest out in East Texas (Piney Woods).
>>
Any good recommendations near the metroplex?

I’ve already mentioned LBJ Grasslands. That’s kinda it aside from a few state parks. Don’t go if you’re Indian

>Don’t go if you’re Indian
Did they never get over the border wars or what?

The metroplex just has a lot of indians

I have to assume anon means dot-not-feather, I've never had an issue as a redskin though I am only half-redskin. That being said, I'm not plains trash from Oklahomo. Swamp injuns might have slid into the Texian culture far more easily due to heading this way instead of that way on the trail of tears.

>Texas is such shit
Ok don't come here. I don't feel like giving away my honey holes anyway.

Learn about your culture. Texan Indians were dominated by the karankawas in the coastal and Apache/Kiowa types in the north. Both brutal slaving cultures.

We weren't.
>fuck off west because the writing was pretty clear on the wall regarding the way shit was going down back east
>settle down in east Texas
>hey we hate mexicans too
>jawesome, you're cool, hang out, this is sam houston
>hey sam we hate mexicans
>awesome, you're cool
>shit gets weird in the 50s but everything was weird in the 50s, legislature goes back and forth
>ok you can have a reservation if you don't open a casino
>we're gonna open a casino
>ok fine whatever
And that's the song of my people.

I don't really like many YouTube dorks but you should look up a recent video "fat electrician" did about how Sam Houston was the first green beret, trained by Andrew Jackson himself. Your people were pawns.

Meh. Who isn't these days? I'm not a politically active sort and I don't particularly give a shit about the struggles of other tribes because they aren't my people. I don't give a fuck about them. I'm just telling you what happened when the Coushatta came to Texas, if you're trying to anger me about something or other you're barking up the wrong tree. We weren't enslaved (at that time, as far as I'm aware), we owned slaves, and said fuck this shit let's go to Texas like many other people did in those days and we kinda fit right in.

Hell, in Jim Crow days what people would do is slip the doc some cash to write "White" on the birth certificate because in those days that was important. Nowadays people lie and say they're Native. You do what you have to do, not my place to judge and I wouldn't even if it were. That's life.
>>
>>2854306
Well yes of course that's why you're people sided with the Texans. Because the whole revolt was about slavery.

I'm a Texan through and through. And I love our history and the coushatta history. But the reason it took almost a month for the Alamo to fall is because Santa Anna was off putting down another slave holder rebellion in the north of Mexico. Everyone was rebelling against Santa Anna at that exact time because he just made slavery illegal in Mexico.

I despise Santa Anna for many many reasons. But he did free all slaves.

Goddamn you're a whiny faggot. No wonder you're on this board, you need to touch some grass. I dunno if you're black or brown but you need to stop making that you're entire identity or you're gonna go insane.
>>
>>2854319
Lol imagine a red man calling you whiny. These niggers never invented the wheel and got beaten at every turn and still claim supremacy.

Where was a whining tonto?

I am surprised nobody has mentioned Guadalupe Mountains National Park. It contains the highest mountain in Texas which is easily hiked (less than 9,000 feet). Added bonus: it's quite near to Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico, which is simply spectacular. (Photo here is not my own.)

If you want to get out in central Texas get into rock climbing.

When i look in google maps its seems all the forestry is in the SE side of texas, so maybe look there. Sabine national forest looks nice
