Have you ever found a DEAD GUY
Yeah, twice.First time:>Local fisherman and dope enjoyer goes missing for a few days>His sister, who usually keeps contact with him on the phone, can't raise him>His dope enthusiast friends can't raise him through their channels>Corps of volunteers are called to look for him>I get to search through an old factory I owned part of, and rented out for him to store equipment in>Go searching together with a member of the fire brigade>Both a bit apprehensive because the man is freakishly huge and strong, and often in a bad mood when he goes on a benderTurned out he had hanged himself from the gantry crane, and as we rounded a corner we see him hanging there. Word through the grapevine was that he hanged himself two days prior.Second one:>Was out walking a late night incel promenade on a trail not too far from a hillside road.>Hear crashing noise>Take a look-see>It is a live actual car crash>Call the emergency services as I walk over to the crash>Mazda crashed into some rocks that had fallen into the road>Driver is missing, but there's blood inside the car>Passenger is a woman, unconscious but breathing>Lift her out and lay her in recovery position a bit away from the wreck>Go looking for the driverThe driver had somehow gotten out of the car and wound up in the ravine on the side of the roadI could only really tell the emergency people that I saw him down there, as I, at the time, was very fat and in no shape to go climbing.Paramedics came shortly after and took over, but the police were busy and only called to take my statement a few days later.I also saw a guy who jumped off a quay at a party and sank like a rock, and all his 180+ kilos had to be lifted out of the sea by a bunch of very drunk men. He tried to hang himself later, but he got found before it worked. Now he's sober, moved away from the bad crowd, found himself a family, and had a gastric band surgery, so he's doing much better.
>>2852877lol why are all your buddies trying to off themselves?
>>2852864Yes. I do Search & Rescue. It's just part of the job.
>>2852904They're germs.
>>2852904Can't rightly ask the guy who managed it, since he's dead. The one who kept trying said it was a mix of dope, debt and desperation, and he hasn't tried killing himself again since that got worked out. Maybe it was the same for the first guy. He certainly got into some grim situations that took some work to resolve, even after his death.I believe in working through your problems and solving them one by one, but if you don't have the clarity of mind or don't see that you have the resources necessary to do that, I can see how a reprieve or an escape from them would be tempting.Apart from those two, I only know two others who killed themselves, and another two who died of overdoses, and one man and one woman who self harmed.
I meant more like on a hike, not in a building :(
>>2852928That picture is so fake that it's annoying.
Found an old dead woman in a ditch. Lovely person, used to talk a lot with her and her husband as they lived at the start of one of my favourite trails. She was an alcohol and her husband constantly hid the bottles around the house, so she'd sneak off on her bicycle to the neighbours a km or so away. On her way back she fell into a ditch and drowned face down in (barely) a puddle of water.
>>2852941Common alcoholic L.At least she was biking and active on the trails. Shame she didn't spend more time hiking though; it may have brought her peace of mind.
>>2852864Snagged a deader fishing. College student went “missing” walking home from a party about 10 miles upstream about a week earlier, It was pretty gross. I called the cops and then slowly pulled him to shallow water. Had pics, but that was 3 or 4 phones ago and I don’t think I’ve kept a copy.
>>2852864Yeah, he was hanging from a tree and I made a youtube video about it. People weren't to happy so I had to delete it. Oh well.
>>2852877the happy ending is very appreciated
>>2852864I saw some trucker drove into a river when i was like 5. Not sure if he's dead or not though, i didn't stick around
>>2852904I think every group has at least one guy who gets to that point, some groups are more open about discussing it though
>>2852959That must've been some kinda bait you were using
>>2852933It's a male skeleton, you can tell from the heart-shaped pelvis
>>2853228It’s fake. You can tell from the articulation and how the left leg is in hammer space.
>>2852910So you aren't very good at the rescue part then?
>>2854826He won "Seek Champion" every year since 2021
>>2854818>he died from SUPERnatural causes
>>2852864Yep a couple of times. >½ >Out for a walk through the botanical gardens with my son, he was about 3 I think, and there's a native parrot aviary at tthe top of a hill he was really excited about. >Saw some legs poking out from some bushes>Just _knew_>Fuck, left phone in car. Son's really excited. >Ok I don't think he's going anywhere, we'll go see the birds and call the police in like 20min, it's going to rain soon anyway.>On the way back, forensics guys were already there>Problem solved.
>>2856371>2/2>Working guiding>Raft hits rock at entrance to rapid, girl falls out, raft wraps.>First guide on scene>She was about 40cm underwater facing up at me>Couldn't pull her off>Cut raft up>Still stuck>Worst spot for something so unheard of to happen>No anchors for a Z-drag at the right angle in the gorge we're in>even radioed a heli nearby to come drop a winch to attach to the raft to try and pull it off. >Took a dozen (maybe a couple more) experienced guides 47mins to get it off.>She wasn't ok.
>>2852864Yes, a somali dude face-down in a shallow creek in the middle of the woods. Smelled like fucking hell, already lightly decomposing. I poked him with a stick but it was quite obvious he was dead from the get go.I first assumed it might've been the local polish population who whacked him as they and the rapefugees have some norf-fc tier conflicts in my area.Nothing more interesting happened after i phoned the cops though, the local paper reported that he died of an alcohol overdose, which is not that surprising for a 50kg soaking wet somali.
>>2856371>Son's really excited.>yaay dead guy
>>2852864found em on remote worksites twice... >>2854826>how does body recovery workanon...
Some guy died in a homeless shelter that I worked in but they had taken the body by the time I got there. They put somebody else in that room (probably on the same bed) within a day from what I remember.
>>2852864Not guy but woman. She was a suicide. Found her sitting down behind a tree stump with a handwritten note on in her pocket. Thats all she had on her body. Looks like she took herself out with pills, only judging from the lack of blunt force truma and other methods of murder/suicide. 2 weeks later after investigation, others was ruled out as a suicide.
>>2852864Never, though a friend and I found a bizarre "piece", if you will, not far from where we lived: A circa 1920s rail car, in an obscure overgrown site, and heavily reinforced with from the inside with about two layers of 3/4ths inch plywood. And while I sometimes like to imagine it contained about 20 tons of cocaine, I wonder what the fuck the whole setup was about if obviously not for such.
>>2856799Probably an old bank car for the railroad. They had to start armoring the bank vault cars because outlaw thieves would hold up trains for money. The banks got to where they didnt care how many people died protecting their money.
>>2856418Turns out it was a student huffing butane. Unrelated but hilarious, a mates uncle got pissed and fell down a bank one winter and went to sleep. It was snowing at the time. He woke up in a white tent with forensics there - whoever found him figured he was dead when they couldn’t get a reaction from him and he was cold to the touch.
>>2852864found no.made yes. kek.
>>2857327Explain?
>>2857328I shouldn't go around saying to much. I may get flagged as a glowie.
>>2857330Dude just explain if true!
>>2852910That sounds cool please tell me you have stories about that!
>>2857334Not him but a fair bit of SAR experience, swiftwater rescue specifically. Never found anyone dead fortunately, but got plenty of free heli trips. Typically grade V, most times people were just having an epic trying to get a kayak unstuck after a swim. Pulled out one of the red bull boys boats once, behaved like it was expected of us. He’d just left it and walked out, so a couple of us went and got it for him, didn’t even get us a beer. Our heli pilot had a stash of abandoned boats and used to hook us up from time to time.
>>2857334Had a chick staying with us one year wanted to go do a fair difficult river with a ridiculous walk in, like thigh deep mud through dense rainforest for 4hrs. We all said no, recipe for disaster leaving town at noon, you’d only be getting on the river at sunset. So she found a couple of guys also from overseas to go with. Urged them not to. As predicted the only got on near sunset, didn’t want a night in the bush so pressed on. She drowned, flatmate scored 2 free boats, 1 slightly haunted.
I only found a dead cow once. A bit up in the alps, right below a cliff, up on the other side it's pretty flat and cows grass there. It obviously fell, like half a year ago at least, past the smell and insects phase, luckily for me.>>2852877>all his 180+ kilos had to be lifted out of the sea by a bunch of very drunk men.Storytime, strap in.I was at a lake once, a river flows into it and the currents can be treacherous, pushing you away from the shore.Bad enough, but additionally, it's only like 1.5/5' deep out to like 30m/110', then it suddenly drops to much deeper.Nice summer day, dozens of people in the water, I'm standing at the shore, just enjoying the scenery. I notice a kid a bit out, in the middle of aforementioned (what a word) currents, he's looking like he's having trouble.I got a basic qualification for playing lifeguard some time before that and am a very good swimmer, so off went my shirt and into the water I go.Once I had dragged the little fucker bag, typo: back, to the shore, he just ran off, no thanks, but what does it matter?tldr: Potential pdf catches kid. Kid manages to escape.>>2852927>I believe in working through your problems and solving them one by one, but if you don't have the clarity of mind or don't see that you have the resources necessary to do that, I can see how a reprieve or an escape from them would be tempting.NTA Yeah, that's often how people get into depression. It all piles up until it's too much for them.
>>2852864Possibly. One time my buddy and I were walking down a trail behind a local beach and we stumbled on what looked to be a deserted campsite. The whole place was a disaster zone and there were poker chips everywhere. We were kind of looking around because we really didn't expect to see something like that there and I picked up an abandoned backpack and found a pelvis bone underneath. I had a slight BSD moment then told my buddy and we ran out of there. When we got back to the beach there was a cop there already who was yeling at some kid who was driving his ATV on the sand so we ran up to him freaking out and going: "OH MY GOD WE FOUND A DEAD BODY YOU'VE GOT TO HELP COME ON COME ON" but he really didn't seem like he cared that much until we told him about the poker chips. Then his eyes almost bugged out of his head and he made us show him where the camp site was. After we showed him the pelvis bone he called in a forensics team. We waited around for a bit then ran up to him and asked him if they figured anything out and he hit us with this:>"Oh, yeah. It's probably nothing. We're thinking it's a dog's pelvic bone. .......Might be a kid's, but it's a probably a dog."Then he left.Still wonder what all that was about.
>>2852864no but a guy i know found a dude who hung himself in the bush, so i found one by proxy
